Ravens Team Overview
After 12 seasons without a professional football team, Baltimore received its newest NFL franchise when Art Modell relocated the Cleveland Browns to the city in 1996. Taking his own players and personnel but leaving behind the heritage, colors and team name, Modell formed an expansion team that's now valued at $2.98 billion. The team name was chosen after a telephone poll proved overwhelming support for it. The name was inspired by Edgar Allen Poe's famous poem, "The Raven," which was authored in Baltimore.
One of the newest teams in the NFL, the Baltimore Ravens are one of just two teams to be undefeated in multiple Super Bowl appearances (alongside the Tampa Bay Buccaneers). The Ravens took home the Vince Lombardi Trophy in both 2000 and 2012. The Ravens' current season is their 17th under head coach John Harbaugh. He's the older brother of former Ravens quarterback — and current head coach of the Los Angeles Rams — Jim Harbaugh.
John Harbaugh is the only head coach in NFL history to win a playoff game in each of his first four and five seasons. He's also the only head coach in NFL history to win a playoff game six of the first seven seasons of a coaching career. Additionally, he has the most road playoff wins by a head coach. Harbaugh surpassed Brian Billick for the most wins by a head coach in Baltimore Ravens history.
Baltimore Ravens 2024 Season
The Ravens have a great team in 2024. They are led by two-time MVP quarterback Lamar Jackson. Two-time rushing champion Derrick Henry joined the team in 2024 (from the Tennessee Titans). Plus, the team has an All-Pro player on each level of defense: tackle Justin Madubuike, inside linebacker Roquan Smith, and safety Kyle Hamilton.
