Start your engines, racers. Magic Kingdom Park is about to be kicked into high gear. During the Horizons: Disney Experiences Showcase at D23: The Ultimate Disney Fan Event, Disney Experiences Chairman Josh D'Amaro hopped on a video call with Tow Mater himself to share some exhilarating news: a new Cars Land is coming to Disney World in a reimagined section of Frontierland.
What We Know About the New Cars Land
While Radiator Springs is alive and well over in Disney California Adventure Park, this breathtaking new area will transport guests a little further west down Route 66. New frontiers await on this grand adventure where aspiring Piston Cup winners will be able to rev it up on two frogciting new attractions.
One attraction will invite you on a thrilling rally race through the mountains as you take on wild terrain and race across the landscape. Test your power and responsiveness by climbing mountain trails, dodging geysers and — Mater's favorite — splashing through mudholes.
The second attraction will cater to smaller racers, but still be fun for the whole family!
Starting in 2025, the Rivers of America and Tom Sawyer Island will begin to be transformed into vast and rugged terrains for a rally race with some of the world's most iconic race cars, which leaves you with plenty of time to experience the charm and nostalgia of Frontierland as it is today.
“We are thrilled to create this original Cars adventure and put our guests in the driver’s seat as we — quite literally — explore a new frontier in Frontierland,” shared Michael Hundgen, Walt Disney World Portfolio Executive Producer at Walt Disney Imagineering. “Part of pioneering this new story includes tapping into the themes of exploration and adventure that inspire so many of us to keep propelling forward. Anytime we touch Magic Kingdom, we recognize the massive responsibility that exists to get it right and tell stories that connect with our guests.”
Where You Can Experience "Cars" at Walt Disney World
If you're planning to head to Disney's Hollywood Studios sometime in the future, you might want to step on it. On Oct. 7, the long-operating Lightning McQueen's Racing Academy will close to make way for a "delightfully wicked" new show featuring the dastardly Disney Villains. Until then, get pumped for a high-octane, first-of-its-kind show that'll put you right in the middle of the "Cars" universe.
Disneyland Resort isn't the only place you'll find Radiator Springs. For some of the most immersive theming at any Walt Disney World Resort hotel, look no further than Disney's Art of Animation Resort. Reunite with old friends in the jaw-dropping "Cars" section of this Disney Value resort. This charming pitstop has everything you need to refuel. Turn in for the night at the Wheel Well Motel, rest up at Tow Mater Towing & Salvage, reset at Luigi's Casa Della Tires, take a dip in the Cozy Cone Motel Pool, restock at Sarge's Surplus Hut and take it slow at Fillmore's Organic Fuel. Fun photo opportunities abound in this sleepy little town!
Lastly, back over at Magic Kingdom, Lightning McQueen and Cruz Ramirez make an appearance during "Happily Ever After" in the Adventure section!
