Walt Disney World Resort and Disneyland Resort will introduce new changes to the Disability Access Service at both resorts in the coming months. The following updates will go into effect starting May 20, 2024, at Walt Disney World Resort and June 18, 2024, at Disneyland Resort.
Generally, Disney has updated the language that further clarifies guest eligibility for DAS: "Disability Access Service (DAS) is one of our programs offered at Walt Disney World Resort and Disneyland Resort theme parks intended to accommodate guests who, due to a developmental disability like autism or similar, are unable to wait in a conventional queue for an extended period of time."
Walt Disney World Resort — Changes Effective May 20, 2024
- Guests will need to register virtually with a cast member as soon as 30 days in advance to determine eligibility. In-person registration will no longer be available at theme park Guest Relations locations starting May 20, 2024. Virtual chats will remain an available option on the day of.
- The DAS registration maximum party size is the registered DAS guest and up to 3 additional party members for a total of 4 people (exceptions may apply for immediate family members). This number has decreased from 6 total party members.
- DAS is valid for the length of the ticket or up to 120 days (which has increased from 60 days), whichever is shorter. Once the window is over, guests will need to re-register.
- Registering for DAS between April 9 and May 19, 2024?
- Guests visiting now through May 19 may continue to register in person. The pre-arrival video chat option is also still available 2 to 30 days prior to park visits.
- Guests can book up to 2 one-hour return windows for select experiences using the DAS Advance option.
- DAS is valid for up to 30 days from the start of registration. Once the service has elapsed, guests will need to re-register.
Disneyland Resort — Changes Effective June 18, 2024
- Guests will have two options for registration: 1) Join a live video chat with a cast member within 2 to 30 days in advance of their park visit, or 2) talk to a cast member in person at a new Accessibility Services window located in the esplanade between the two theme parks.
- The DAS registration maximum party size is the registered DAS guest and up to 3 additional party members for a total of 4 people (exceptions may apply for immediate family members). This number has decreased from 6 total party members.
- DAS is valid for the length of the ticket or up to 120 days (which has increased from 60 days), whichever is shorter. After this time has passed, guests will need to re-register.
- Registering for DAS between April 9 and June 17, 2024?
- Guests visiting now through June 17 may continue to register at Guest Relations locations. The pre-arrival video chat option is also still available 2 to 30 days prior to park visits.
- Guests can book up to 2 one-hour return windows for select experiences using the DAS Advance option.
- DAS is valid for the length of the ticket or up to 30 days from the start of registration. After this window has passed, guests will need to re-register.
Disney is adding more cast members and investing in specialized training on each coast to help guests identify and better understand the recommended tools and options, based on their needs. Disney is teaming with Inspire Health Alliance’s health professionals to help cast members, as needed. The health professionals may help determine eligibility for appropriate accommodations and ensure that these accommodations are provided only for the guests for whom they are intended.
