As one of two Major League Baseball (MLB) teams based in the greater Los Angeles area, the Los Angeles Angels play home games at Angel Stadium in Anaheim, CA. The team was part of the 1961 MLB expansion, initially starting out in Los Angeles before moving to the current stadium in 1966, making it the fourth oldest active ballpark in the majors. Unlike the Los Angeles Dodgers in the National League, the Angels compete in the American League (AL) West division against the Texas Rangers, Houston Astros, Seattle Mariners and Oakland Athletics.
In 2002, the Angels earned a Wild Card berth, took the AL pennant and won the World Series title. They've also won 9 AL West Division titles throughout team history. Hall of Famers Nolan Ryan, Reggie Jackson and Rod Carew all once played for the Angels. And currently, the Angels' roster boasts one of the greatest baseball players of all time — Mike Trout. As the face of the franchise, Trout is a three-time American League MVP, a nine-time Silver Slugger Award winner and has made 11 MLB All-Star appearances.
