Overview of Lumen Field

Lumen Field, formerly known as CenturyLink Field, is a sports and entertainment venue in Seattle. Since its doors opened in 2002, this cutting-edge stadium has hosted Seattle Seahawks games, as well as a wide variety of community events.

The seating capacity is about 68,000, and Lumen Field has become a hub for major concerts, soccer matches and community gatherings. Because of its versatile and modern infrastructure, Lumen Field typically hosts other major events in addition to sports games — including the AMA Supercross, soccer games, the upcoming Kenney Chesney concert and the Metallica 2024 Tour. The stadium has a unique design that features a roof covering 70% of the seating area. This design shelters fans from the consistent Seattle rain, while also reducing the need for artificial lighting during daytime events.

Lumen Field is the proud home of the Seattle Seahawks. Since its opening in 2002, numerous NFL events have been set in the stadium. One especially notable event held at this venue was Super Bowl XLVIII in 2014, where the Seattle Seahawks emerged victorious against the Denver Broncos. The stadium is also a key location for college football games, including the annual Washington Huskies games.

Here's a fun fact! Seahawks fans take their cheering seriously — so seriously, in fact, that they've claimed not one, but two Guinness World Records for the loudest roar at an outdoor stadium. And yes, the acoustics of the arena amplify these cheers — often giving the team a home-field advantage by causing a surge in both false starts and delays in the game.

Location Lumen Field

Lumen Field is located at 800 Occidental Ave S, Seattle, WA. Lumen Field sits near the convergence of Interstate 5 and Interstate 90 on the eastern side. To the west, it is flanked by State Route 99 and the south portal of the State Route 99 tunnel. Connecting Interstate 90 to the neighborhood is the State Route 519 corridor.

Passenger drop-off is located across from the Lumen Field Shop on Railroad Way S, which can be accessed via 1st Ave S. For those utilizing a ride-share service to reach or depart from Lumen Field, instruct your driver to choose one of these drop-off points: the North side at King St. & Occidental or the South side at Royal Brougham & Occidental near the stadium.

Parking at Lumen Field

There are two on-site options for parking at Lumen Field; Lumen Field Parking Garage and the North Lot. Depending on the event you plan on attending, pricing and pre-purchase availability will vary. Oversized vehicles above eight feet and three inches are only permitted to park in the North Lot. Keep in mind that overnight and RV parking is also not permitted. Electronic vehicle charges are available in both the parking garage and lot but are only guaranteed with pre-purchased parking.

Those attending Seahawks games usually utilize public transit near the field. There are several public transportation options to consider. The Link Light Rail, with two nearby stations — Stadium and ID/Chinatown — is a fast and straightforward route whether traveling from the South, including Sea-Tac Airport, or the North. It's worth noting that the Link Light Rail ceases operations at midnight for late-night events. King County Metro has more than 15 daily bus routes stopping within a 3-block radius of Lumen Field. Sound Transit Express buses extend the connectivity, linking downtown Seattle to major hubs across King, Pierce, and Snohomish Counties. For those coming from Lakewood and Everett or points in between, the Sounder Train is also a great option.

Accessible parking spaces are based on a first-come, first-served basis and vary for different events. Extra ADA parking is accessible at the Union Station Garage, provided on a first-come, first-served basis. A specific ADA drop-off area is designated on 1st Ave S and S Charles St, allowing you to conveniently pull in and drop off guests outside the Lumen Field Pro Shop. Wheelchairs are available on-site for your convenience.

At Lumen Field, there are really no bad seats, but for the best experience, the Loge Charter seats reign supreme. Occupying the six rows in the lower section of the 300-level sidelines, these seats provide optimal views. The local Seahawks fans recommend sitting on the Seahawk's side, otherwise, you might have winds and rain coming at you from the west. The 200-level offers are great if you want a higher view. The 300 level is also an excellent option. This area allows for a breath of fresh air but also offers stunning views of the city, especially on the west side near the harbor. For a Sounders SC game, fans highly recommend the Loge Charter seats.

The ideal seats for a concert at Lumen Field can vary based on personal preferences and the performer's stage setup. For a close view of the artist, consider seats closer to the stage in the lower bowl or on the floor level. If you prefer a broader view of the entire stage and crowd, opt for seats in the mid to upper levels along the sidelines.

No matter which seat you decide on, ensure you secure your tickets for Lumen Field events through Undercover Tourist. With a reputable history spanning over two decades, Undercover Tourist provides great deals and savings on sports and concerts, backed by a solid 100% buyer guarantee.
