Hi there! Welcome to our weekly roundup of the most interesting theme park news around the Walt Disney World Resort, the Universal Orlando Resort, SeaWorld Orlando and other theme parks.
Here Are This Week's Theme Park Highlights:
- Mother’s Day is nearly here! Disney Parks released its official foodie guide to celebrate Mother’s Day this May! Indulge in a variety of splendid pink treats, such as the Bouquet Strawberry Shake at Walt Disney World Resort, or a Mother’s Day Doughnut at Disneyland Resort. Guests can share these deliciously precious treats (and more) with the mother figure in their lives, whether it be a mother, aunt, grandmother, caregiver or any special person!
- The frog-favorite, rag-tag group of heroes has returned to the big screen! Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 is now in theaters. In the new film, the crew of space misfits must face the music and band together once more to save the universe — and each other! Fans can also purchase exclusive Guardians of the Galaxy merchandise at Disney Parks or shopDisney, including shirts, pins, hoodies and plushies, all in celebration of the film’s upcoming debut.
- Calling all coaster fans! Cedar Point, the popular amusement park in Sandusky, Ohio, is preparing to open a new wild mouse-spinning roller coaster May 6, which is also when the park reopens for the 2023 season! The park released the first on-ride video of its new ride, which marks Cedar Point's 18th roller coaster, ahead of its debut.
- Disneyland is hosting a series of community coffees at city parks throughout Anaheim to introduce local residents to Disney’s decades-long expansion initiative, known as DisneylandForward. This proposal, if propelled forward, would grow the resort and result in the possible fruition of six projects based on “Frozen,” “Tangled,” “Peter Pan,” “Zootopia,” “Toy Story” and “Tron” — which could act as new lands and attractions there.
- May the Force be with you! Star Wars Month has officially begun at Disneyland Resort and Walt Disney World Resort! Test your Jedi strength by experiencing Star Wars-themed experiences at the parks this May. In addition to hosting Disneyland After Dark Star Wars Nite, the parks are also offering galactically great treats, photo opportunities, character meetings and other out-of-this-world entertainment.
- As of May 4, 2023, SeaWorld San Antonio has transitioned to cashless transactions only. The park accepts American Express, Discover, Mastercard and Visa credit cards and most debit cards, as well as Apple Pay and Google Pay. For those carrying cash on the day of their visit, Cash-to-Card kiosks are conveniently located throughout the park where you can transfer your cash (free of charge) to a Visa prepaid debit card.
That’s it for the theme park news this week! Have a great weekend.
Hoppy planning!
