Inside This Post

May the Fourth is a coveted unofficial holiday for all "Star Wars" fans, as it plays off the famous Jedi phrase, "May the Force be with you." Disney has observed this unofficial Star Wars Day in its theme parks since 2013. In recent years, fans have even more chances to celebrate because Star Wars Month morphed into a two-month-long celebration called Season of the Force at Disneyland. While Season of the Force is not returning in 2026, a lot of "Star Wars" fun awaits you at Disneyland, including an expanded timeline in Galaxy's Edge! You'll also get to experience Hyperspace Mountain, themed food offerings, new merchandise, and new adventures and characters on Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run, just to name a few. We also get to see even more characters and fun during Disneyland After Dark: Star Wars Nite parties in 2026! For the latest info, hop to those individual guides.

What to Know About Star Wars at Disneyland Resort

How to Celebrate Season of the Force at Disneyland Resort - May 4th art

Disney celebrates "Star Wars" around May 4 each year. So it's no wonder we're getting a whole bunch of new merchandise leading up to it! Add ride overlays, foods and new characters in Star Wars: Galaxy's Edge for the ultimate fan experience. This celebration takes place mostly inside Disneyland Park.

Choose your days to visit wisely. You might want to visit on May 4 for obvious reasons. Book your reservation early, as it's a popular day to visit.

Besides May 4, look for other popular dates for "Star Wars" fans. Followers of the Dark Side have also cleverly invented Revenge of the Fifth to represent May 5 and keep the celebration going! Then there is Black Spire Day, the anniversary of the opening of Star Wars: Galaxy's Edge at Disneyland, on May 31. (Black Spire Day is Aug. 29 at Walt Disney World.)

There is a lot hoppening at Disneyland Resort in spring 2026. Some "Star Wars"-related new arrivals overlap with the Disneyland 70th, which runs through Aug. 9, 2026. That means we expect a busy month of May! Get your Disneyland tickets and park reservations early. Consider adding an extra day to your visit to have time to see and do it all.

What's New for Star Wars Month in 2026?

In 2026, there are quite a few new "Star Wars" arrivals to look forward to in April and May! Here you go, recruits:

  • April 28: Hyperspace Mountain overlay started
  • April 28 & 30 and May 4 & 6: Star Wars Nites
  • April 29: Star Wars: Galaxy's Edge's timeline expanded to include Galactic Civil War-era Star Wars characters like Darth Vader, Luke, Leia and Han Solo. Old school Stormtroopers patrol the land. You may notice some changes to the storylines at select retailers (since Batuu has gone back in time), and you can also hear familiar scores from the films from the legendary John Williams.
  • May 21: New foods at Docking Bay 7 and other treats and novelties around the land and park.
  • May 22: A new adventure begins on Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run, featuring the Mandalorian and Grogu

Star Wars Disneyland Rides

Star Wars at Disneyland Resort - Hyperspace Mountain

There are three official year-round "Star Wars" rides at Disneyland, but a fourth arrives during Star Wars Month or Season of the Force in the form of an overlay. Space Mountain in Tomorrowland gets a Hyperspace Mountain overlay for a limited time as of April 28, 2026, and continuing through June 1, 2026.

The most frogciting part of Star Wars Month for our Frog Family is the return of Hyperspace Mountain! The overlay is available every day for all park visitors. You can see new signage outside, watch instructional videos featuring "Star Wars" characters such as Admiral Ackbar and experience an epic galactic battle filled with music, projections, sound effects, set and lighting changes and dialogue.

From the second you start climbing the initial hill on Hyperspace Mountain, the "Star Wars" music kicks on and builds the anticipation. You’ll see ships zooming past, and you’ll find yourself escorted into hyperspace by an X-wing squadron. Oh no! You probably guessed it. It’s a trap! A Star Destroyer is waiting for you with a swarm of TIE fighters. The starfighter forces enter battle with Imperial vessels, while you take evasive maneuvers to avoid the barrage of cannon fire. The intensity picks up as you join the New Republic squadron for one final, courageous assault on the menacing Star Destroyer.

New for 2026, Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run gets all-new adventures starting May 22. You can choose to visit different places, and you'll be joined by the Mandalorian and Grogu. Also, be on the lookout for new jobs for the engineers.

Mandalorian update for Smugglers Run

But I digress ... the other "Star Wars"-themed attractions that are available any day of the year include the classic Star Tours — The Adventures Continue in Tomorrowland, as well as Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance in Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge. (And speaking of Star Tours, there are new Star Tours adventures from 2024 that sometimes still appear! Look for adventures taking you to the planet Peridea and important transmissions from Ahsoka Tano, Cassian Andor or Din Djarin and Grogu.)

Star Wars Month Characters, Entertainment and Photo-Ops

Star Wars at Disneyland Resort - lightsaber

You may encounter special characters and entertainment in the park in April and May. The March of the First Order takes place in Tomorrowland during Star Wars Nite, offering even more special entertainment. You might encounter special entertainment and characters during the day, as well. Expect to encounter characters in Batuu. Keep an eye out for lightsaber meet-ups among guests.

And don't forget that, as of April 29, 2026, Han, Leia, Luke and Darth Vader are in Batuu to be visited regularly! The arrival of this happy family does, however, mean that Kylo Ren has left Star Wars: Galaxy's Edge for the time being. But don't worry, he appears at Launch Bay in Tomorrowland! Any park guest can meet him from late morning until 1:30 p.m. Then, from 2 to 6 p.m. Disney Visa cardholders can meet him.

For park guests who purchase Lightning Lane Multi Pass, there are "Star Wars" PhotoPass lenses to be used. A new lens allows you to customize your own Mandalorian helmet and armor.

Be sure to ask PhotoPass photographers for Magic Shots in Star Wars: Galaxy's Edge.

Enhanced Fireworks and Music in Batuu (now year-round)

Did you know Star Wars: Galaxy's Edge is a great spot to watch fireworks? The show shoots off behind the spires. The fireworks are now accompanied by music (as you might hear in the park's other viewing areas). You can watch the fireworks show with a galactic soundtrack with selections from composer John Williams’ "Star Wars" film scores!

Star Wars at Disneyland Resort - Fireworks over spires of Batuu

The show is called "Fire of the Rising Moons." This celebration of freedom only takes place on nights that have fireworks (note: they are not two separate shows, but instead "Fire of the Rising Moons" offers a unique view and experience with Star Wars music, compared to watching fireworks on Main Street or near "it's a small world" or Rivers of America).

You can view and hear the show in Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge from the Black Spire Spaceport, the TIE Echelon docking platform and the speeder garage. The MagicBand+ responds to the show with colorful lights and vibrations. So be sure to charge yours before you visit.

There's also a separate, nightly projection show called "Shadows of Memory: A Skywalker Saga." This show is an incredible addition to the land, and one not to miss for Star Wars fans! This narrated projection show highlights key moments in the story of the "chosen one." Pair beautiful imagery with powerful John Williams scores for the ultimate nightcap for a Star Wars celebration.

Speaking of John Williams music, did we mention it is now playing throughout Star Wars: Galaxy's Edge? Yep, that's right! Alongside "new" characters and a new timeline, you might recognize familiar themes while exploring Batuu.

As of May 16, 2026, for a limited time, stick around after "Shadows of Memory: A Skywalker Saga." "The Curious Child" is a new Grogu projection show. Watch Grogu use his power to take a trip down memory lane through his adventures with The Mandalorian.

But partygoers can really get into their roles. Be sure to go over the costume and event dress code and guidelines. Both day guests and party guests are welcome to bring lightsabers to the park.

During Star Wars Nite, guests can meet rare characters, take photos (to show off those "Star Wars" outfits), enjoy special entertainment, try special themed foods, participate in lightsaber training and mingle with other superfans.
