Is the Orlando FlexTicket the Best Ticket for Your Family?

by Leap on July 1, 2020
110 Orlando

Leap's Update: The Orlando Flex Ticket is no longer being offered. While there is no comparable ticket to the Orlando Flex Ticket, there are discount tickets for all of the parks that were included with the Orlando Flex Ticket (minus Wet 'n' Wild, which is closed) from Undercover Tourist. The Universal Orlando Resort has introduced new ticket options. There are up to 5-Day Universal tickets that include Universal Studios Florida, Universal's Islands of Adventure and Universal's Volcano Bay Water Park. SeaWorld offers an Unlimited Visits ticket that includes SeaWorld Orlando, Aquatica Orlando, Busch Gardens Tampa and Adventure Island Tampa. View all of our discount Orlando theme park ticket options!

Orlando FlexTicket - Universal GlobeWe get a ton of questions from families who are trying to decide which Universal Orlando ticket is right for them. Today we're here to talk about a couple of lesser-known options that can be a great savings if you're planning on longer visits to the Universal Orlando® Resort and other Orlando theme parks. If Universal Studios Florida® and Universal's Islands of Adventure® are already on your vacation to-do list and you are thinking of adding SeaWorld, Aquatica and maybe even Wet 'n Wild®, the Orlando FlexTicket may be just what you're looking for. We've put together this overview to help you decide if the Orlando FlexTicket is the best ticket for you!

What is the Orlando FlexTicket?

Orlando FlexTicket - Hogwarts Express

The Orlando FlexTicket offers unlimited admission to Universal Studios, Universal's Islands of Adventure, Wet 'n Wild, SeaWorld and Aquatica for 14 days. And by unlimited, we mean unlimited. If you wanted to, you could visit all five parks every day for 14 days straight. This ticket will also get you on the Hogwarts Express, which hops between The Wizarding World of Harry Potter™ - Diagon Alley™ in Universal Studios Florida and The Wizarding World of Harry Potter™ - Hogsmeade™ in Universal's Islands of Adventure. The train ride, which offers a different experience each way, can only be experienced with a park-to-park ticket or a ticket that allows unlimited visits.

Is the Orlando FlexTicket right for you? It might be the best ticket if:

  • Orlando FlexTicket - SeaWorld's MantaYou want the most flexibility at the five parks included on the ticket. (i.e. you don't want to worry about how many "days" you've used on your ticket or whether you can visit more than one park in a day.)
  • You will be visiting those five parks at least once during your trip. If you were to buy single day tickets to each of the parks, the total would be more than the price of a FlexTicket AND you would only be able to visit each park one time.

What is the FlexTicket Plus?

Orlando FlexTicket Plus - Busch Gardens Tampa's Falcon's Fury

The Orlando FlexTicket Plus offers unlimited admission to six parks: Universal Studios, Universal's Islands of Adventure, Wet 'n Wild, SeaWorld, Aquatica and Busch Gardens Tampa for 14 days. We're not sure it's humanly possible, but if you wanted to you could visit all six parks every day for 14 days straight with the FlexTicket Plus. The safari-themed Busch Gardens is home to many animal exhibits as well as some incredible coasters and other thrill rides, including its newest attraction, Falcon's Fury!

The FlexTicket Plus is the best ticket if:

  • Orlando FlexTicket Plus - Busch Gardens Tampa's Falcon's FuryYou are looking for a ticket that includes Universal Studios, Islands of Adventure, Wet 'n Wild, SeaWorld, Aquatica and Busch Gardens.
  • You want the flexibility of going to more than one park per day.
  • You will spend at least one day at five of those parks. Even if you never visited Wet 'n Wild, the FlexTicket Plus is still cheaper than buying single day tickets for the others.

Other important details...

  • Universal CityWalk Party Pass is included on the FlexTicket and FlexTicket Plus. The Party Pass entitles you to free admission to the paid entertainment venues at Universal CityWalk for the 14 days that your ticket is valid.
  • Parking is not included on the FlexTicket or FlexTicket Plus, but you will only have to pay once a day if you visit more than one park. Just save your receipt.
  • If you stay at a Universal Orlando Resort hotel or a SeaWorld official partner hotel, you can arrange for free transportation between the two properties. So if you were staying at Universal's Cabana Bay Beach Resort, you could arrange free transportation to SeaWorld Orlando and vice versa.  For those purchasing the FlexTicket Plus, SeaWorld also offers free transportation to and from Busch Gardens Tampa.
  • The FlexTicket and FlexTicket Plus do have an expiration date. They must be activated on or before the end of the year. To get the full 14 days of use on the Orlando Flex Ticket and FlexTicket Plus 2016, they must be used on or before Dec. 18, 2016.

A 3rd option — the 3 Park Unlimited Ticket

If you are looking for maximum savings at Universal Orlando for an extended stay but don't plan to visit SeaWorld or Aquatica, there is another option, the 3 Park Unlimited ticket. As the name states, you can have unlimited admission to all three Universal parks, Universal's Islands of Adventure, Universal Studios Florida and Wet 'n' Wild, for 14 days.

I purchased a Orlando Flex Ticket Adult in 2016 and would like to do it again in 2022 when I plan on coming. I like it because it includes Universal (all parks) plus both of SeaWorld parks, but who needs Wet and wild if both Universal and SeaWorld have waterparks!

Hi Belinda,

We have a great post that lays out the Orlando theme park options by age group. The best ticket answer varies on how many of those days you would be spending at the various parks. Choose how many days you'll be spending, then look for the Multi-Day ticket that fits your need.

Hi Jackie,

This depends on what other parks you are visiting. If it is just the two Universal parks on those two days, then, you are better off purchasing the Two-Day Universal Park-to-Park Ticket or Two-Day Universal Base Ticket. Unfortunately, there is no discount for a larger group.

we are traveling to Orlando the last week of 2016 into the first of 2017 and we were looking at purchasing the Flex Pass. I saw a previous post that stated that as long as you activate the Flex Passes by the end of 2016 you can still us the Flex Pass in 2017 but when I spoke with Universal Studios about this they stated that you have to have all your days used by Dec 31st, 2016 because the Flex Pass will not be good after that date. This is very confusing as to how this really works. I don't want to have to purchase 2 sets (1 for 2016 & 1 for 2017).

Hi,

A few questions regarding the collection of the tickets.

We are family of 5 (2A+3C) ordering the Flex tickets from abroad (Israel).

1) I understand that the tickets can't be printed at home. Am I correct?

2) After collecting the Flex tickets are they admissible at the different park gates, or should I collect specific park tickets in every day visit to the different parks? I am asking because usually park tickets have a magnetic strip or a scannable barcode of some sort. Does the Flex ticket cover that?

3) Can the Flex tickets be sent by mail? or should I collect them when we get to orlando? if so where from?

Thank for the info,

Yaniv.

Hi Yaniv,

Currently these tickets cannot be printed from at home. You do not need to exchange them at Will Call; you can go straight to each of the gates with them. We do not ship to Israel, but you could select the Orlando pickup option, which is conveniently located near Universal Orlando.

Hi Ryland,

Base it on day and crowd levels if you can. Also, by ride priority. For example, if you are really big into thrill rides such as roller coasters, I would lean more heavily toward QuickQueue for Busch Gardens. Are you OK with doing single rider lines? If so, then you might again consider QuickQueue, since Busch Gardens doesn't offer it.

Hi Spring,

It can be used for 14 consecutive days, so you're good to go, and you don't have to use it everyday.

Hi Julio,

You can pick up from the UPS store near Universal Orlando. We have full details on it under the delivery options when you add your tickets.

Hi, is the flexpass a good option if we plan for 2 days at Universal, including the use of the Hogwarts Express and 1 day at Seaworld for 2 kids and an adult? Also, are the passes and tickets under a specific name? Could the adult ticket be "given" to someone else to use for one of the days? We also have a day that's not planned with any activities, so we could use half a day of activities, like a water park, for example, on the flexpass if it made sense.

Thanks a lot.

Hi Lisa,

You would need to price out the cost of each of the single day tickets to see if it's a better breakdown for you price-wise. If you were going to do 3 days at Universal instead of 2 or 2 days at SeaWorld instead of 1 and then one day or more at the water parks, then it's likely the most economical option.

Hi Misty,

We don't currently offer a print-at-home option for this ticket. We would either mail tickets, or you could select the Orlando pickup option.

I would like to know the cheapest ticket for a family of 5 (2 adults nd 3 children of ages 4,8,12) we will be in Orlando for 8 days nd wish to know the best tickets for us. We plan to visit disney, universal and sea world at least. Any idea on planning our days will be greatly appreciated and also if you post ticket to Rep of Ireland.

Hi Tim,

We do ship to Ireland! As far as tickets, you did not mention the breakdown of which parks you want to visit on which days, but I would suggest you do at least 4 days at Disney, 2 days at Universal and 1 at SeaWorld. This gives you 7 days, which you could add another day, or plan a day of downtime from the parks and hit the pool and Downtown Disney. We do currently offer the 4 Day Magic Your Way plus Extra Day Free for Disney that would be a good choice, and then the 2 Day Universal Base Ticket. Keep in mind that if you want to ride the Hogwarts Express at Universal, you would need to upgrade to the 2 Day Park-to-Park ticket. Finally, if you can plan to visit SeaWorld on a weekday, you can get a cheaper ticket.

Hope this helps! All of the tickets mentioned are available on our tickets page.

If I choose a hotel outside of the resorts do I have to pay for the "gate" to get into the parks?

Hi Tina,

If you choose a hotel outside of the resorts, you would need to pay if you choose to park at the parks, but not if you took a shuttle to the parks. Is that what you mean?

We are looking to purchase the Flex ticket. Express pass and Quick queue can they be purchased at the parks? We are not staying at one of Universal Studios resorts do you have to be staying there in order to purchase the slip the lines pass?

Hi Jackie,

The Flex ticket is a great way value for longer stays. Yes, you can add Express Pass and Quick Queue at the parks, and no, you do not need to be staying on-site to do so. Unlimited Express is included for free for your entire party if you stay at a Universal deluxe hotel, and Quick Queue is free if you stay at an official SeaWorld hotel.

We were looking at the Orlando Flex Tickets Plus for the family but had a question what does it mean by unlimited express? Also can you get a bus only to Busch Gardens or will a bus take you to the other parks such as Sea World, etc...?

Hi April,

This ticket is a terrific value! I don't see a reference to Unlimited Express, but this is the skip-the-lines access Universal offers if you are staying at one of its deluxe on-site hotels: Loews Royal Pacific Resort, Hard Rock Hotel or Loews Portofino Bay Resort. You can get a free shuttle from SeaWorld to Busch Gardens Tampa with paid admission to Busch Gardens. Details here.

If I purchase the flex tickets for the parks mentioned in the package,

1. Will it have access to all the rides in the parks?

2. Are the flex tickets 'Fast Pass' enabled?

Thanks in advance,

Regards,

Pooja

Hi Pooja,

Yes all rides for the parks listed would be included. FastPass is only at Disney, and it is not included in the Flex Ticket, so you would not have access to that. However, you would have the option of adding on the Express Pass at Universal Orlando and the Quick Queue at SeaWorld Orlando and Busch Gardens, which offer skip the lines access.

my family is planning on visiting Orlando (and ALL the parks) at the end of December/beginning of January next year. If I purchase the Flex Pass, does is expire on December 31st or is it good for the entire two weeks (we are planning on arriving in Orlando December 28 and leaving January 13). Thanks I use your site and apps every time we are in Orlando!
