7 Must Do Things Inside Diagon Alley Besides the Rides

0417pinterest-diagon-alley

You already know the magic and greatness of The Wizarding World of  Harry Potter™ - Diagon Alley™. There is so much to see and do inside Diagon Alley, you could easily spend a week there and still not experience it all!

While we absolutely love riding Harry Potter and the Escape from Gringotts™ as many times as possible, it's not the only thing to do inside Diagon Alley. We wanted to give you a little taste of the very cool things you can do (and eat) when you visit. Hop to our list and check out some of the must do things inside Diagon Alley!

7 Must Do Things Inside Diagon Alley

1. Try the Fishy Green Ale (or at least the Tongue Tying Lemon Squash)

For many, Fishy Green Ale will be an acquired taste. This sugary cinnamon-mint concoction with boba tea blueberry "fish eggs" is quite sweet and packs a punch! More palatable for the masses is the Tongue Tying Lemon Squash (plus Otter's Fizzy Orange Juice and Peach Tree Fizzing Tea). All are available at the Hopping Pot along with a few alcoholic options.

2. Cast a spell inside Diagon Alley

Think your wand skills are a match for Hermione? Put them to the test! Using one of the interactive wands for sale at Ollivanders™, you can meander through Diagon Alley (and soon Hogsmeade) casting spells at marked locations (look for the medallions along the cobblestone streets or use the map). Say the right words, move the wand just so and presto! -- the magic happens.

3. Let a wand choose you inside Ollivanders

Every Potter fan knows that it is the wand who chooses the wizard, and so it goes inside Ollivanders. Step inside the famed shop inside Diagon Alley (there is also one in Hogsmeade™), and you too might be chosen for this magical experience wherein the wand keeper sizes you up for the perfect wand!

4. Chat with the goblin inside Gringotts Money Exchange

Gringotts Exchange

While the goblins inside Harry Potter and the Escape from Gringotts™ are much too busy for small talk, inside the Gringotts Money Exchange, the goblin behind the counter is happy to answer any questions as you part ways with your Muggle money. You can exchange your Tens and Twenties for Gringotts bills that can be used throughout the Wizarding World.

5. Grab a scoop of Butterbeer Ice Cream

Butterbeer Ice Cream

OK, I must confess that perhaps the very best thing inside of Diagon Alley is the Butterbeer Ice Cream. Yes, it was right up there on the list of things I was most looking forward to inside Diagon Alley, and it did not disappoint! This creamy, soft-serve concoction was absolute, melt-in-your-mouth amazing.

6. Catch the fireworks inside Weasleys' Wizard Wheezes

Weasleys' Wizards Wheezes

Fred and George Weasleys' creativity is on full display inside Weasleys' Wizard Wheezes, the perfect place to pick up a few gag gifts and fun foods like Pygmy Puffs, Bombastic Bombs and U-No-Poo.

Fireworks Weasleys' Wizard Wheezes

What's even more wondrous are all the intricate details, the spiraling staircase and the magical effects like the fireworks display.

7. Take a walk on the dark side in Knockturn Alley

Knockturn Alley Borgin and Burkes

The darkest area in Diagon Alley is also the coolest -- a permanent chill runs through the air. It's always nighttime in this shopping district devoted to the Dark Arts with ominous clouds hanging over the twisty alleyway.

Inside Borgin and Burkes

You can try your hand at some of the darker spells inside Knockturn Alley, and then head inside Borgin and Burkesto pick up a Death Eater mask, skull or costume.

Bonus: Sup inside the Leaky Cauldron

Inside the Leaky Cauldron

Dinner at The Leaky Cauldron (if you don't indulge in too much Butterbeer and Chocolate and Raspberry Ice Cream) is a definite must! The cozy dining hall offers tasty meals and drinks.

Leaky Cauldron Beers

We dream of cozying up with a pint and grabbing some Bangers and Mash!

We always forward to exploring every single nook and cranny inside the Wizarding World of Harry Potter - Diagon Alley. What are some of your must do things inside Diagon Alley? Share in comments below!

If I purchased an interactive wand in a previous visit, will it still work when I visit again next year?

Wait....can someone confirm that your can buy a death eater mask in Borgia and Burke please? I've been wanting something better than a rubber one. I just came from the park and they didn't have any for sale, just on display on the high shelves.

Hi Daryl,

You can buy Lucius Malfoy's Death Eater mask at Borgin and Burkes. A cast member also told me they are available at Filch's Emporium of Confiscated Goods. Unfortunately, they were sold out while we were there.

Hi Deborah,

The Wizarding World of Harry Potter is coming to Calfornia, but we don't yet have details on which attractions will be part of it.

Stay tuned!

Fishy Green Ale sounds very interesting - cinnamon, mint and blueberry?

Butterbeer ice cream sounds wonderful! Can't wait to try it!

Maegan,

They are both amazing in their own way, but I do prefer the Butterbeer ice cream :)
