They will visit Africa, Asia, the Amazon, and Australia. Zoo Miami consists of 340 developed acres with more than 3,000 animals and over 1,200 plants and trees. Zoo Miami has food and drink concession stands throughout and a beautiful gift shop where you can buy that special memento that will bring back wonderful memories of Zoo Miami!
The Best Value Package includes zoo admission, all-day monorail pass, unlimited carousel rides and one animal feeding!
Monorail all-day pass – A great way to get around our large zoo is by riding our monorail and getting a bird’s eye view of our beautiful canopy and animals. There are four stations – one at each continent – and guests can get off and on at any or all of them. Our monorails are air-conditioned and handicap accessible. A cool and relaxing way to experience the zoo.
The Wildlife Carousel - A 36-foot, wooden carousel, reminiscent of the hundreds of wooden carousels built across the country during the "golden age" of carousels (1885- 1925). It features 30 hand-carved, custom-made animals and two chariots. Many of the animals represent endangered species, including a cheetah, rhinoceros and baby gorilla.
Animal Feeding Options:
Giraffe feeding – This is without a doubt Zoo Miami’s most popular exhibit. And it’s understandable why. You walk up a wooden platform so that you are “almost” the same height as the giraffes. When you are face-to-face with these amazing animals, you reach out to feed them from your hand, and they pull out their black, 18-inch tongue and wrap it around the food you are holding, it’s a feeling that doesn’t come too often in one’s lifetime. And their eyelashes are so gorgeous that any woman would kill for! Don’t miss this fabulous opportunity. It’s as close to a wilderness experience as most people will probably ever get.
Parrot feeding - This free-flight, 1,656-square-foot aviary houses over 300 brightly colored birds - including cockatiels and rosellas - all parrots native to Australia. Upon arrival, guests will be surrounded by the sounds of the birds chirping and singing in the aviary’s peaceful environment encircled with a lush landscape inspired by the Australian Outback. The friendly birds will fly and perch on visitors’ arms or hands (and sometimes heads) in order to nibble on the treats. In addition to being a fun exhibit, Wings Down Under: A Parrot Feeding Adventure, is a learning experience. Zoo staff is available at the site to answer any questions and educate the public about the birds’ habitat and behaviors, as well as issues, concerns and challenges facing birds in the wild.
Camel feeding - Come and see our beautiful Dromedary camels in the New Critter Connection and get to interact with them by giving them some green treats!
Tortoise feeding - Get up close and personal with these ancient giants and share the same space with one of the world's largest living tortoise species.
Rhino feeding - You haven’t lived until you have fed our huge Greater one-horned Indian rhino. Watch him step up to you, open his enormous mouth and gladly take food from your hand with his prehensile lip. His noisy chewing is a treat to behold, and after swallowing, he will open his mouth asking for more. He will even let you rub his horn! This is a not-to-be-missed encounter.
