FROG FAMILY REVIEW
Disney's Animal Kingdom Lodge*
What we love
- Standard rooms are priced similarly to Disney's Wilderness Lodge and significantly cheaper than other deluxe resorts
- One of the most fun resorts, with savanna-view rooms and plenty of opportunities to see the animals on the grounds
- Home to more than 30 species of African wildlife — more than 250 animals — plus plenty of public viewing areas
- Our favorite buffet on property at Boma, which serves American and traditional African dishes
- Spectacular lobby with incredible art throughout
- Uzima Springs is one of the largest pools on property at 11,000 square feet
- Hotel is designed to maximize views of the savannas and animals
- Free parking!
Keep in Mind
- Furthest deluxe resort from Magic Kingdom® Park
- Not on monorail or accessible to the parks by boat; requires bus or car
- No quiet pools
- Maximum occupancy for standard room with two beds is four
- Furthest rooms are about a 10-minute walk to the lobby, pool and bus stops
- Smaller standard room sizes than some of the other deluxe rooms
- No water recreational activities
- Hotel charges $33 per night (sales tax included) for valet parking
Notable Facts
- The lodge was designed by Peter Dominick, who also designed Disney's Wilderness Lodge
- Rooms are designed in a semi-circle, following Kraal African village design, to maximize views of the savannahs and animals
- There are three savannas on property — Sunset, Arusha and Uzima — each with its own look and feel
- Ostriches are only found in the Sunset savanna; zebras are found in Arusha; giraffes are the only animal found on all three savannas
Frog Family Tips
- Consider upgrading to a savanna-view room; the view is worth it!
- Victoria Falls Lounge gets very popular; if it's crowded, try the bar inside Jiko - The Cooking Place
- Pick up an animal viewing guide from the front desk if you don't find one in your room
- Request a room on the higher floors for more expansive views; request a room on the second floor to be closer to the animals; the third floor is likely the sweet spot
- The Zebra trail rooms facing the Uzima savanna offer more unspoiled views; the Arusha savanna includes a large rock formation and public viewing area
Best For
- Animal-loving families, especially larger families with longer stays, who are looking for kitchenettes or full kitchens, in-room washers and dryers, and deluxe-level amenities
