Garden Wing rooms are the least expensive, but they are further away from the Tower, restaurants and parking lot
Can be noisy on concourse level due to monorail traffic
Pool is further from the hotel than other properties and doesn't have any discernible theming
On-site convention center brings in more business travelers
No children's activity center on-site; parents can drop off the tadpoles at the nearby Lilo's Playhouse at the Polynesian for a night out
With the hotel layout, it can be confusing to remember where everything is: the lobby and check in and The Wave of American Flavors is on the first floor, check-in for California Grill is on the second floor, and the shops and other restaurants are on the fourth floor

Disney's Contemporary Resort shares the distinction of being the first Disney hotel to open (along with Disney's Polynesian Village Resort) on Oct. 1, 1971
The award-winning California Grill underwent an extensive refurbishment in 2013, adding a sleek design and lighting, onstage kitchen, sushi bar and more than 250 wine selections
President Nixon's famous "I Am Not a Crook" speech was delivered in a ballroom at the Contemporary on Nov. 17, 1973

Frog Family Tips

For the shortest transport time, walk to Magic Kingdom® Park, but take the monorail back to the hotel
For transport to Epcot®, take the Monorail to Transportation and Ticket Center and then transfer to the Epcot® line
Consider upgrading to a Theme Park View; request a higher floor for a better view of Wishes Nighttime Spectacular and less potential noise from foot traffic
If you're watching Wishes Nighttime Spectacular, turn to channel 20 to hear the show
If you're dining at California Grill on the 15th floor of the Tower, watch Wishes Nighttime Spectacular show from the roof viewing area; earlier diners can show their receipt and come back up for the show

Best For

Families who appreciate modern design (that doesn't scream Disney), being next to Magic Kingdom® Park and on the monorail, plenty of amenities, including casual and upscale dining, and adults who are looking for a more mature Disney resort

Kid's Nite Out also plans and works children's parties, camps, and children's theme conventions.
