Overview of Avengers Campus Rides
Currently, there are two marvelous rides in Avengers Campus at Disney California Adventure. And the whole campus will double in size soon, with the opening of two brand-new rides!
WEB SLINGERS: A Spider-Man Adventure leans into interactive gameplay and is one of the most accessible rides in the whole park, while Guardians of the Galaxy – Mission: BREAKOUT! brings thrills with big drops and high-energy. With Avengers: Infinity Defense and Stark Flight Lab on the way, the campus is expanding to cover multiple types of ride experiences. You're looking at a future that includes a large-scale, story-driven Avengers attraction alongside a high-tech thrill ride rooted in Stark Industries innovation.
Between interactive elements, randomized ride sequences and the potential for evolving storylines in future attractions, Avengers Campus is designed to feel a little different each time you visit. That's a big deal for a land that will continue to grow, because it gives you a reason to come back and see what's new.
The new rides are coming as part of DisneylandForward. DisneylandForward is a multi-billion-dollar, multi-year expansion project for the Disneyland theme parks, bringing growth through new lands and experiences to Disneyland Resort.
Guardians of the Galaxy – Mission: BREAKOUT!
If you're looking for something intense, this is your ride. Guardians of the Galaxy – Mission: BREAKOUT! takes place inside the Collector's Fortress. You might recognize this fortress as the former home of The Twilight Zone Tower of Terror. Inside the tower, the Guardians (Star-Lord, Gamora, Drax, Groot and Rocket) have been captured and put on display. But don't worry – Rocket has escaped and has a plan to free his friends. And it, of course, involves you.
After entering the queue, you'll make your way through the Collector's bizarre collection. Keep an eye open for Marvel Easter eggs, strange artifacts and a few familiar faces. The pre-show sets up the mission. Rocket recruits you to help trigger a breakout by boarding a gantry lift and creating enough chaos to distract the guards.
Once you’re strapped in, things move fast. The ride is essentially a drop tower, but not a predictable one. Rather than a simple up-and-down sequence, you’ll experience randomized drop patterns paired with music from the Guardians' iconic soundtrack. You'll launch upward, "free-fall" downward and bounce between the two in a series of unexpected movements. In between drops, screens open to reveal scenes of the Guardians attempting their escape.
Each version feels slightly different, since there are several sequences that mix up the songs, videos and drops. It's loud, it's fast and it fully commits to that offbeat Guardians of the Galaxy energy. If you love thrills with a side of humor, this one delivers every time.
During Halloween Time, this ride gets a Halloween overlay in the afternoon called Monsters After Dark. Rocket has to go back into the building to save Groot. It has a heavy metal soundtrack and is especially thrilling.
Lightning Lane Access
This ride is on Lightning Lane Multi Pass. In fact, it's our number-one ride to choose a Lightning Lane Multi Pass when we enter the park in the morning. If you are staying on-site and have a free Lightning Lane Multi Pass that comes with your hotel stay, this is a good ride to use it for.

Best for: thrill seekers, teens and adults, Guardians fans and anyone who loves drop rides with a fun twist.
Height requirement: 40 inches
WEB SLINGERS: A Spider-Man Adventure
WEB SLINGERS: A Spider-Man Adventure brings you the chance to attend an open house at the Worldwide Engineering Brigade (WEB). Here, Peter Parker demonstrates a new line of Spider-Bots, designed to help with everyday tasks around the campus. But in true Peter fashion, things go wrong fast. The bots begin self-replicating, and suddenly, you’re not just visiting Avengers Campus, you’re being recruited to help save it.
First, you'll enter a garage-style lab room for a pre-show with Peter. The demonstration goes awry when the buggy Spider-Bots get stuck in a replication loop, creating more and more Spider-Bots! Spider-Man is called to action to help save the day (anyone know where Peter went?), and you are quickly ushered out of the pre-show room and to the ride vehicles. There, you’ll board a Web Slinger vehicle and jump straight into the action alongside Spider-Man.
Be sure to pay attention to the desk, room, queue (so many Disney and comic book references) and the misbehaving Spider-Bots. They are quite hilarious, actually. Check out our WEB SLINGERS video on our YouTube channel.
You'll put on your 3D WEB Vision goggles and ride around in the "Web Slinger" vehicle. Using specially designed, innovative technology that recognizes your body movements and gestures, you can reach out your hands to sling virtual webs from your wrists. How does that work? Your 3D WEB Vision goggles help track your head and eye movement and sensors track body movement.
You will virtually pass through several other Campus addresses, such as Pym Test Kitchen, Avengers Headquarters and the Collector’s Fortress. As your mission continues, you may find that the Spider-Bots become harder to beat as they continue to multiply. The faster and more accurately you move, the higher your score climbs.
The ride has back-to-back seating, similar to Toy Story Midway Mania! Your four-person group works as a team, and members of the team accumulate both individual and group scores. Did you know you can use your webs to pull things and move things (such as levers, doors or panels)? There are also a few things you can shoot webs at that will trigger fun Easter egg reactions. I ride again and again to work on my Spidey skills.
Are you the type of rider who always aims to get the highest score on rides such as Toy Story Midway Mania! or Buzz Lightyear Astro Blasters? (Of course, you are.) Then note these codes for blasting the bots, as the colors indicate how many points they are worth:
- Red and Blue — 300 points
- Green — 900 points
- Bright Red — 1,500 points
- Glowing Blue — About to self-replicate 3,000 points
- Gold — Special heat-shielding so you'll gain 6,000 points
But this ride is not as much about competition as it is about teamwork. You'll score much higher if you all work together. In the end, your vehicle gets a team score. You can check the leaderboards as you exit to see where you rank. (It always seems our family needs some more practice. We're hoppy to keep trying!)
We've noticed that we have better sightlines and access to targets when we sit in the two middle seats versus the sides. So keep that in mind when entering the vehicle (you want to be the second or third person to enter).
The ride is open during Early Entry for Disneyland Resort hotel guests.
Lightning Lane Access
This ride is on Lightning Lane Multi Pass. Hop here to read more about Lightning Lane Multi Pass.
Single Rider Line
If the line is long and you are a solo traveler, the Single Rider line is a good way to skip the line. You can still see the pre-show. You do work as a team on this ride to get a score, so going single rider means riding with strangers who might not match your skillset. If you have a group of four, wait it out or use a Lightning Lane so you can ride together.
Best for: all ages, competitive groups, Spider-Man fans and anyone who wants an interactive ride that feels a little different every time.
Height requirement: none
Avengers: Infinity Defense
We already get to team up with Spider-Man and jam out with the Guardians of the Galaxy, but what about Earth's mightiest heroes? Avengers: Infinity Defense puts a larger Avengers roster front and center, giving guests the chance to join a full-scale mission alongside some of Marvel's biggest heroes. This attraction is built for fans who have been waiting for that true Avengers-level experience. The kind with high-stakes, massive battles and heroes assembling from across the multiverse.
Join the Avengers to take on a powerful and familiar threat tied to the multiverse. Thanos has stolen technology that allows the Avengers to jump between worlds. And, naturally, he's using it for evil (who would have guessed?). With the help of their recruits (you!), the heroes must regain control of the technology and defeat Thanos. And it's not just any Thanos, it's a version that has already conquered his own universe. King Thanos. No pressure.
The ride uses advanced technology that allows for large-scale movement through multiple environments, giving you the sense that you’re traveling across different worlds and realities. Along the way, you’ll encounter a lineup of heroes from the Marvel Cinematic Universe, and move through Wakanda, Asgard, New York City and beyond.
Best for: Marvel fans, first-time visitors and anyone who wants a story-driven ride experience.
Height requirement: unknown/TBD
Stark Flight Lab
While Avengers: Infinity Defense is all about saving the multiverse, Stark Flight Lab is about testing the limits of what Stark Industries can do. This attraction puts you in Tony Stark’s workshop, where new flight tech is being developed and, of course, tested on willing recruits. You’re stepping into an active experiment, which means things may not go exactly as planned.
Stark Flight Lab will feature a unique ride system that simulates flight in a way we haven’t seen before in a Disney park. Riders sit in a two-person, gyro-kinetic pod, which deploys to a test station. The pods glide along a track before connecting to a massive robotic arm. Once attached, the arm lifts riders into the air for a series of fast-paced aerial maneuvers inspired by Iron Man technology.
Unlike many Disney attractions where the ride system stays hidden behind the scenes, the technology itself is part of the experience. The attraction puts Stark Industries innovation front and center, making it feel like you are stepping directly into one of Tony Stark’s experimental labs. There will be multiple "test flights," so you might want to return for a different experience after you've ridden.
This new Avengers Campus ride will also feature highly advanced robotics designed to be expressive and lifelike. And it's all made to feel similar to Tony’s robotic assistant, DUM-E.
Robert Downey Jr. reprises his role as Iron Man for both new rides. The Stark Flight Lab story will likely carry that signature Tony Stark tone, mixing cutting-edge innovation with humor. Compared to the other Avengers Campus rides, this one is set to lean more into thrills and physical sensation. It will be a must for guests who want something fast-paced and a little unpredictable.
Best for: thrill seekers, Iron Man fans and anyone who's ever wanted to take a test flight in Stark-level tech.
Height requirement: unknown/TBD
