Here's what to expect!

Overview of Disney H2O Glow After Hours at Disney's Typhoon Lagoon

Held after regular park hours, special lighting effects transform the park into a colorful nighttime paradise. Get your groove on at a DJ-hosted dance party and enjoy much shorter waits for Typhoon Lagoon's most popular waterslides, including Crush 'n' Gusher, Humunga Kowabunga and Miss Adventure Falls. A glowing Stitch-themed necklace, free popcorn, ice cream bars and fountain beverages are included with event admission (plus there are toadally cool specialty snacks for purchase).

Disney H20 Glow After Hours - Wave pool

When the water park officially closes, daytime guests will be filtered out from those with wristbands attending the evening's event. If you have already spent the day at Typhoon Lagoon and are sticking around for the extra hours, you can find cast members handing out wristbands near the entrance ... just be sure to have your ticket and ID with you!

Tickets are available for purchase as of March 22, 2024! Prices range from $75 to $85, while passholders and Disney Vacation Club members can get tickets for $60 to $70. Psst ... we frogs offer discount event tickets!

Disney H2O Glow After Hours Entertainment and Attractions

H20 Glow After Hours — Goofy with Chip and Dale on the DJ Dance Party Stage

Nothing says glow party quite like a vibrant DJ dance party on the beach! The dance party was found on the beach in front of the surf pool. The DJ keeps it lively as the crowd enjoys dancing to the epic beats, anything from classic 80s to current trendy songs and even some Disney bops (you know we grooved to "We Don't Talk About Bruno").

Frogs and tadpoles of all ages will love this DJ dance party, especially because special characters randomly show up! We were so excited to see Goofy and Chip 'n' Dale up on the stage. Just look at them sporting their summer outfits! They randomly appear and do not have a published schedule. They seemed to appear about every 30 to 40 minutes, so you should hopfully catch them if spending some time at the dance party. They stay and dance on stage for about 10 to 15 minutes before heading out again. Sometimes the characters come down and dance in the crowd.

H2O Glow Nights - Phineas Meet

This year, the infamous step-brother duo Phineas and Ferb are meeting with guests for the first time ever! They meet individually at Getaway Glen — the pavilion area to the right of Leaning Palms. We were able to meet both characters throughout the night with hardly any wait at all. Have your phone or camera ready. Cast members are there to help take photos to capture the fun. (Currently, PhotoPass Photographers are not available at this event.)

H2O Glow Nights - Ferb Meet

And of course, you can use this party to enjoy shorter wait times for all of your favorite Typhoon Lagoon attractions, including Crush 'n' Gusher, Humunga Kowabunga and Miss Adventure Falls! Take a relaxing change of pace with a trip down the lazy river or head to the iconic surf pool. It was so cool to experience these attractions at night. While we were there, most rides did not have any lines — we only waited for Crush 'n' Gusher!

Disney H2O Glow After Hours Food and Drink

H2O Glow Nights - complimentary snacks

Like with other Disney After Hours events, complimentary ice cream treats, popcorn and fountain beverages are included with admission. Look for the glowing inflatables throughout the park for the complimentary popcorn and ice cream novelties, including Mickey bars, Mickey ice cream sandwiches and popsicles. These opened around 7 p.m. when the park closed to day guests, so we just showed our wristbands and started enjoying some treats. It was nice we didn't have to wait until 8 p.m. when the party actually started.

For complimentary fountain drinks, head to any of the self-serve soda machines. Small cups are provided, and you can choose any of the available drinks from the machines, including water. We liked that you had more variety and could choose how much you wanted, especially when sometimes you only want a small drink after all of the delicious treats.

This is a little different than Disney After Hours events in the theme parks, which provide bottled beverages, but we liked this so much better because we didn't have to carry around a bottle.

H20 Glow Nights — Beverage Station

Beyond the complimentary options, we were hoppily surprised by the number of glowtastic specialty items available for purchase. There were options throughout the park with bold flavors. While there were, of course, lots of specialty ice cream treats and drinks, there were also main dishes as well, which was nice to see.

Many of the locations had these items available for purchase at 6 p.m. before the party started at 8 p.m., so we highly suggest utilizing that window to eat dinner and enjoy those specialty items. You'll have plenty of snack options throughout the party, so it is good to get a meal in before the true party begins.

H2O Glow Nights - Popper Burger and Dole Whip Hard Cider Float

We started off at Leaning Palms with the Jalapeño Popper Burger and the Foot-long Loaded Dog. Both were delicious options for dinner (the Jalapeño Popper Burger has some nice heat!), and Tad and Lily loved the foot-long hotdog. Both entrees come with a side of fries. Leap and I also treated ourselves to the new DOLE Whip Pineapple Hard Cider Float. The float is made with Caribé Pineapple Tropical Hard Cider. So refreshing!

Just before heading to the DJ dance party, we conquered the DOLE Whip Bathtub Float from Snack Shack. It is filled to the brim with three different DOLE Whip flavors — DOLE Whip pineapple, DOLE Whip strawberry and DOLE Whip green matcha, then topped with whipped cream, popping boba pearls and cherries.

H2O Glow Nights - Bathtub Sundae

The frog favorite of the night was the Spiced Chicken Strip Waffle Wrap from Typhoon Tilly's, which had sriracha and maple-spiced chicken strips, bacon and coleslaw all served in a warm waffle!

Disney H2O Glow After Hours Highlights and Tips

We attended the first event of the season and have some cool tips and tricks to share:

  • Separate your night into wet and dry. Before diving in, stow your suits in a locker while you eat dinner or hit the dance floor (or should we say beach?). With this approach, you'll be nice and dry AND have your phone or camera with you for pictures throughout the fun. Then, start splashin' and slidin' for the rest of the night!
  • This year, complimentary towels are provided for use during the event. Pickup is located at Singapore Sal's, the souvenirs and sundries shop.

H2O Glow Nights - towel station

  • Make the most of your ticket and arrive when "doors open" at 6 p.m. While the party doesn't officially start until 8 p.m., this gives you a head start on the festivities.
  • Be sure to try the many specialty food and drink options exclusive to the party!
  • Get your groove on at the DJ dance party on the sands of the wave pool. Keep an eye out for special characters to make random appearances on stage. Though they don't have a set schedule, they seem to come out about every half hour to 45 minutes. For instance, we saw them at 9 p.m. and again at 9:45 pm.
  • Party capacity is limited, and we found the low crowds in the water park to be a huge plus. Not only does this mean shorter lines, but an overall more relaxing experience than during the day. No fighting over beach chairs here!
  • Take advantage of the low wait times. During the time you have at the park, you can easily ride every slide (they're ALL open!) and still have time for all of the party fun. Miss Adventure Falls is our personal fave.
  • Some may wonder if the weather is still waterpark-worthy after dark, and we promise the answer is YES! The wave pool and water slides feel just as refreshing in the evening when heat and humidity levels are still high.

Disney H2O Glow Nights After Hours — Should You Go?

Many of you momma and poppa frogs visiting Walt Disney World this summer are probably wondering if Disney H2O Glow Nights After Hours is worth the price of admission. We think the answer is yes! H2O Glow After Hours is a great way to have fun with fewer crowds, especially if you don't mind the tadpoles staying up a little later. It's a nice add-on for those of you making first-time visits who may not be planning on hitting the water parks otherwise.

Switch it up and skip the hot, sunny day at Typhoon Lagoon. Visiting after dark creates a fun atmosphere, plus the wait times are short and sweet.

While we frogs enjoy nothing more than basking in the sun, it's awesome to have the option of visiting when the sun goes down, and the lines are short for an action-packed night. Being able to tackle every attraction in Typhoon Lagoon in a matter of hours makes this event worth it alone! Low stress and maximum Disney fun? Count us in! Between the glowing atmosphere, cool treats and all of the fun you can accomplish during party time, H2O Glow Nights After Hours is a winner in our books.

Even if you are already planning on the Park Hopper with Plus Option (which allows you to hit up the water parks for the same number of days as the ticket), you might still want to hop on Disney H2O Glow After Hours for an extra special party night at the water park!

Going in July as a last minute birthday surprise for my daughter. Disney is out of the budget this time but was hoping for an after hours event to get the Disney fix but there isn't any during our dates. I might look at this one, didn't realise Typhoon Lagoon did them! Silly question probably but is it still hot enough after the sun sets to be running around wet and going in and out the water?

FrogBlog Says...

Hi Gemma!

No such thing as a silly question :) in our experience — even in the evening, it's still hot and humid, so the water is refreshing! Hanging out in a wet bathing suit afterwards could potentially be a bit chilly since the sun's not out. But bringing a change of dry clothes or having a towel to wrap around you as soon as you get out of the water can help if you feel chilly at all. No need for a sweatshirt or outer layers though!

The complimentary ice cream choices include Mickey premium bars, Mickey premium ice cream sandwiches and strawberry fruit bars. Those should not run out! As for specialty items, there could certainly be a chance that some may run out, but we don't think it'd be super likely.

I'm concerned about crowds, I see they LIMIT the #..but limited as in what? less than an average day at the park? Those attending the park during the day...I assume they have to purchase h20 for the night? Last question, if I do h20 night, I get to start riding slides at 6 pm right? thank you!

FrogBlog Says...

Hi Bev!

The limited guests are far less than are generally in the park each day. You can expect low wait times (walking on most of the time.) Since it's a separately ticketed event, if you're visiting the water park during the day and would like to stay, you'd need a separate event ticket to head to H2O (there are wristband stations at the park so you wouldn't be required to leave and re-enter). However, if you just have the H2O Glow Night ticket, you can head into the park at 6 p.m. and start sliding!
