Overview of Rogers: The Musical
The brief, one-act musical, which debuted June 30, 2023, is billed as "a timeless story of a timeless hero." It is showing at the Hyperion Theater in Disney California Adventure Park for a limited time this summer — with the last show running Aug. 31, 2023. Revolving around themes of heroism, romance and self-discovery, the performance runs approximately 30 minutes from Tuesday through Saturday most weeks. Be sure to check the calendar again the day you visit, as shows may be canceled. A spot in the audience can be guaranteed via a virtual queue, which we will get into below.
"Rogers: The Musical" Story and Music
The production's plot follows Steve Rogers on his journey from fighting in World War II to becoming the brave Captain America and Earth's first Super Hero leading the Avengers in their adventures — all in song! "Rogers: The Musical" combines iconic Marvel references with an array of creative, musical styles, which is sure to please Avengers fans and theater enthusiasts alike!
Some of the songs from the production include "Save the City" from "Hawkeye," "Star Spangled Man" from "Captain America: The First Avenger" plus five new songs written just for "Rogers: The Musical" at Disneyland Resort. The cast of characters includes Peggy Carter, Nick Fury (yes, he sings!) and multiple members of the Avengers. Fans were first able to catch a glimpse of this special show in the Disney+ series, "Hawkeye," before it was performed live for the first time at the 2022 D23 Expo. The new show is written by Tony Award nominee Hunter Bell and Grammy-winner Christopher Lennertz wrote various songs for the production. Lennertz served as music director for the “Wondrous Journeys” fireworks and projection show, as well.
If you can't make it to Disneyland this summer to see "Rogers: The Musical," you can watch it on our YouTube channel.
Joining the Virtual Queue for "Rogers: The Musical"
Because the new show is only available briefly, guests can only experience “Rogers: The Musical” by joining the virtual queue system, available only via the Disneyland app. You can also access it by scanning the QR code in front of the theater.
Each day that “Rogers: The Musical” is performing, the complimentary virtual queue will open at 10:30 a.m. PT for the first two showtimes of the day, and at 2:30 p.m. PT for the two remaining showtimes of the day. Typically, showtimes are 12:30 p.m., 2 p.m., 4 p.m. and 5:30 p.m. Joining the virtual queue is not required to view “Rogers: The Musical,” but it is highly recommended. As the virtual queue can often reach full capacity within seconds, hop over to our post with all of the important details on how to join the virtual queue system at Disneyland Resort.
If you are successfully able to join the virtual queue (at either 10:30 a.m. or 2 p.m.), you will be assigned a showtime and prompted to be at the Hyperion Theater at least 30-35 minutes prior to it. However, we recommend arriving about 45 minutes before your showtime as the crowds can gather quickly. About an hour or so before your respective showtime, the app will provide you with a special barcode once it is your turn to get into the physical line to enter. This way, guests will get into the physical line in phases or groups (much like the Rise of the Resistance boarding groups) to avoid overcrowding.
Once those with a virtual queue barcode have entered the physical line, guests can choose to enter a specific physical line for one of three seating sections: the mezzanine section, the balcony section or the orchestra section. The balcony is the highest section. After making your choice, you will likely wait another 30-45 minutes outside before entering the theater, so don't froget to carry water with you! About 15 minutes prior to showtime, guests will be allowed inside the theater. Keep your group close as seat-saving is prohibited once inside.
Standby Line
Simultaneously, as those with a virtual queue reservation are allowed into the physical line to enter the Hyperion, the standby line will be directed (by signage) to the left. Because it operates on a first-come, first-served basis, those in the standby line will not be seated until the virtual queue groups have entered the theater. You are not guaranteed a seat if you are waiting in the standby line.
You can expect to be seated in either the balcony or mezzanine sections if you are in the standby line. Stay to the left for the mezzanine or right for the balcony if you have the option.
The line opens an hour before show time. Availability will vary per show. For many shows, you can arrive 20 to 30 minutes before show time to get in.
Premium Viewing Experience
If you want to savor the moment with some more heroic fun, there is an opportunity for a premium viewing experience offering first access to seat selection (at an extra cost). For $29 per person, you receive reserved seating in an exclusive lounge area in front of Stage 12 (where you can relax before entering the theater), a 'Rogers: The Musical' souvenir popcorn bucket with red, white and blue kettle corn and a Coca-Cola bottled beverage (available upon arrival and before performance time), and priority access to a special photo opportunity.
To purchase, visit Studio Catering Co. in Hollywood Land, which opens at the same time the park opens, and you'll receive a souvenir lanyard. We highly recommend arriving at Studio Catering Co. as soon as the park opens to have a chance at purchasing this special viewing package, as it sells out very quickly. At rope drop you can follow a cast member there to line up.
The premium viewing experience will be available until it's sold out for the day (or until 90 minutes before the last show). Guests can go to Stage 12 to check in up to 90 minutes before their showtime and will be let into the theater about 30 minutes before the show begins. If you want to sit in front, this is the best option for your pick of seats.

Tips for "Rogers: The Musical"
Here are some tips to improve your experience watching "Rogers: The Musical":
- For a more elevated view, or if you simply want to wait less time outside in the sun, choose the mezzanine or balcony viewing sections. Both of these are allowed inside the theater before the orchestra section.
- If you do not want to climb steps, choose the Orchestra.
- People in wheelchairs will be let into the Orchestra area before the rest of the crowd.
- Be within the vicinity of the Hyperion Theater about 45 to 60 minutes before your assigned showtime to get the first pick of seating and avoid having to navigate large crowds.
- If you want to purchase the Premium Viewing Package from Studio Catering Co., arrive at the park at rope drop and immediately get in line. It sells out quickly.
- Remember to use the restroom before checking in for your virtual queue showtime, as there aren't any restrooms inside the theater and the production is 30 minutes long.
- Buy a snack, drink or some water while waiting in the physical line to enter the theater. There isn't much shade and you will most likely be in the sun for a while.
- Stroller parking for this show can be found in two areas. One is located near the restrooms in Hollywood Land and the other is near Terran Treats.
- If you wear a MagicBand+, make sure it is fully charged for it to interact with the show.
