Built for speed and bringing you into the technological future, this ride is sure to be a fun-filled adventure for the entire froggy fam. Let's hop to it.

What Is Test Track?
Text Track offers the ultimate thrill at Disney's EPCOT!
Part dark ride, part thrill ride, Test Track takes you on a journey through innovation, passing by stunning landscapes and showing you how automotive technology is shaping the world of tomorrow. There are lights, fast turns and beautiful music to accompany your journey. After your tour of scenic vistas, brace yourself for a thrilling race outdoors, topping at 65 mph!
Find it over in World Discovery! Once you enter the park, turn left as you reach Creations Shop. It's to the right of Mission: SPACE, which you'll see straight ahead from World Celebration.
What to Expect in the Test Track Queue
Test Track's queue is very sleek, and you'll see lots of blue and silver accents everywhere. When you first walk in, you'll be greeted by oversized images of futuristic forms of transportation, including actual models. Neat!
As you pass by the models, you'll come across other exhibits that discuss General Motors' initiatives — oh, yeah, the ride is sponsored by GM again! (More on that later) — as well as smaller models in display cases. Then, you'll watch a brief safety video offering guidance on how many riders fit per row (3), where to place your items and how to put on your seatbelt. Each ride vehicle fits six people, making it a perfect ride for the entire froggy fam!
Test Track Vehicle Showcase
Your experience isn't over when the ride is. After you exit your vehicle, you'll be let into the General Motors showcase. Here, you can browse some of the latest General Motors vehicles. General Motors representatives are standing by to answer any questions you have about vehicles on the floor. Feel free to snap photos with the cars, too!
History of Test Track at EPCOT
This current iteration of Test Track comes on the heels of a long backstory.
Since opening its doors in March 1999, Test Track has undergone three reimaginings — Disney's magical way of saying "update." In the first iteration of the ride, you took the journey of a crash-test dummy, undergoing vehicle safety tests. Test Track 1.0, as it's commonly called, replaced the World of Motion attraction that had been housed there since EPCOT's opening in 1982. Keep this fact in mind — it'll be important later on.
While Test Track was beloved by fans, it underwent a reimagining and reopened its doors in April 2012. The reason for the update? Sponsorship changed hands from General Motors as a whole to Chevrolet, a division of the automotive company. Test Track 2.0 debuted a completely different style from the original ride. While it had the same ride track and general elements, it switched from an industrial to digital display, taking you around the "SimTrack" with the virtual car you designed before boarding.
Now, Test Track has undergone a second reimagining that lets you see through the "eyes" of a vehicle. Walt Disney Imagineers used over 29,000 points of light to let you see what your vehicle sees when it hits the open road.
Remember, I mentioned World of Motion earlier? Well, Test Track 3.0 draws inspiration from its predecessor, focusing less on vehicle testing and more on innovation and progress for a hopeful future. It reopened on July 22, 2025.
Can You Use Lightning Lane on Test Track?
Yes, you will be able to use Lightning Lane on Test Track! Test Track is available as part of the Tier 1 Multi Pass experiences. With Lightning Lane Multi Pass, you can choose up to three attractions and arrival windows up to 7 days in advance if you're a Disney World hotel guest (all other guests can book up to 3 days in advance). Out of the three advance selections, you can choose one Tier 1 ride and two Tier 2 rides (or three Tier 2 rides, if you prefer).
On the day of, you can book more as you use your passes, helping you maximize your time at EPCOT.
Test Track FAQ
When did Test Track reopen?
Test Track reopened to the public on July 22, 2025.
What is the minimum height requirement?
Riders must be at least 40" tall (102cm) to ride Test Track.
Does Test Track have an on-ride photo?
Yes, Test Track has an on-ride photo, shortly after the car goes outside on the outdoor track.
Is it available during Early Theme Park Entry?
It is! Even though Early Theme Park Entry lets Disney World resort guests enter EPCOT 30 minutes before official park opening, not every ride or area of the park is accessible, however. Generally, World Showcase is blocked off until official park opening, so you're good to access Test Track and nearby attractions.
However, please note that this is always subject to change.
Is Test Track scary?
Generally, no, Test Track is not scary. It can have some scary elements, however, particularly coming face-to-face with another oncoming vehicle. You know your tadpole best, so if you think that would scare them, maybe plan to revisit the ride when they're a bit older.
How fast is Test Track?
Test Track's top speed is 65 mph, which can add to the thrill/scariness factor.
Can I bring my purse or backpack, or should I get a locker?
That answer is up to you. Logistically, you can bring your purse, backpack, diaper bag or gift bags on the ride with you. Just place them on the floor by your feet. However, larger items — such as oversized stuffed animals and fragile pieces — should be stored in a locker.
Is Test Track wheelchair accessible?
Guests must transfer from their wheelchairs to the ride vehicle. Additional assistive technology, including video captioning, is available. Expectant mothers and those with heart, back, neck and blood pressure problems should not ride. Those with motion sickness should also avoid riding.
Can I buy a car in the GM Showcase?
Test Track displays new vehicles from General Motors, so it begs the question: Can you buy a vehicle at EPCOT? The answer is technically no. Unlike a regular dealership, you can't just drive a new car out of EPCOT. However, you can always start the process of buying a vehicle by speaking with one of the representatives.
Test Track has been one of the most beloved rides at Epcot since it debuted in the late 1990s. Drawing inspiration from World of Motion, Test Track 3.0 sure gets you thinking about innovation! A perfect fit for EPCOT if you think about it!
