Inside This Post

A day at the Happiest Place on Earth can be even hoppier when you come prepared! Bringing only the essentials and keeping it simple for a day at Disneyland means less to worry about and less to carry around. Without realizing it, you might end up bringing too much or too little along with you, which can create some extra stress. But don't worry, Goldilocks. We're going through the Disneyland must-haves for your trip to the parks to ensure you bring the perfect amount!

What to Bring to Disneyland

What kind of bag you prefer to tote along is toadally up to you. We recommend something small like a mini backpack or a fanny pack that's easily taken off and on for rides and doesn't weigh you down. It's a good idea to organize everything in your bag to make it quick and easy while security takes a look as well. Avoid bags within bags. Security will need you to open any additional change purses, wallets, cases for glasses, makeup bags, etc. So try to simplify your bag with just the essentials.

Sunglasses/Hat

The sun beams pretty bright in Southern California. It's always a good idea to have sunglasses and/or a hat with you, even if the day starts off cloudy. Just remember to take off your hats and glasses before going on rides. You might get them back if they fall off, but there's no guarantee.

Portable Charger

Most of your day at the parks requires the use of your phone. Whether that's for mobile ordering food, checking wait times, using Lightning Lane or just scanning into the parks, phones seem to always be needed in hand. Bring a portable charger and cable to make sure your phone makes it to the end of your park day. If you forget your charger, you can purchase a Fuel Rod from a couple locations within both parks.

Small Wallet

Because the easiest way to order and pick up food in Disneyland is through mobile order, you don't really need your full wallet for a trip to the parks. A small card-holder with your ID, a backup credit card, Disney gift cards and any necessary medical cards is all you need.

Jacket

Due to the dry air, the mornings and nights at Disneyland can be pretty chilly. We always bring a small jacket with us regardless of the time of year. If you don't want to carry a jacket around with you all day, there are lockers available to rent in both parks and the esplanade. Check out our month-by-month guide to Disneyland weather for an idea of what to pack and what kind of jacket to bring.

Hair Tie

A long Disney day includes a lot of walking and a lot of sun. Add in rollercoasters for some sticky, wind-blown hair. Choosing a hairstyle that pulls your hair up and away from your face is always a good choice. But if you decide to wear your hair down, throw an extra hair tie in your bag, just in case.

Hand Sanitizer

There are hand sanitizer dispensers around the park, so you can definitely get away without bringing your own. But if you're anything like us and don't want to travel to a crowded bathroom or track down the nearest dispenser after touching something questionable, before eating or just after exiting a ride, bringing your own mini sanitizer is really helpful.

Lip Balm

It gets dry in California, especially in the colder months. Throw a lip balm or gloss in your bag to apply when needed. Don't froget to drink plenty of water as well! You can ask for a complimentary cup of water at any quick-service location with a soda machine.

Medications

Bring any necessary medications along with you. Advil, Dramamine and Tums are always a good idea as well!

Sunscreen

Standing in lines for outdoor rides, waiting for and watching parades and/or shows and just walking around all day is a lot of time in the sun. If you froget your sunscreen, there are a few locations within the park where you can purchase a bottle.

Other Optional Items to Bring
