Known for its champagne powder and producing more winter Olympians than any other town, Steamboat Springs is skier’s paradise. The resort is about a four-hour drive from Denver in central Colorado and its base elevation is 6,900, so altitude sickness shouldn’t be a huge factor for most visitors!
With 2,965 skiable acres, 165 named trails and several terrain parks, there is something for every type of skier and snowboarder. Steamboat Springs is a large ski resort with long, thigh-burning runs and several peaks.
While there are no steamboats, the town has two hot springs that are open to the public. There is also excellent stargazing, river sports and cycling — road, gravel and mountain biking!
