Our Favorite Reasons to Visit Disneyland in the Spring

Inside This Post

The truth is, it's never a bad time to take a trip to Disneyland. Each season has something unique and special to offer. Disneyland in spring is one of the most beautiful times to visit in the whole year. The pink blooming tabebuia trees in front of the castle and flowers all around the park are absolutely breathtaking. The weather is perfectly manageable with longer park hours coming back after the holidays. This year, alongside springtime comes some of the most anticipated events and hoppenings throughout the resort. Here are our top reasons to visit Disneyland in the spring.

Disneyland in Spring

It's time to party! Save up to $35 per ticket on 3- and 4-day Disneyland® Resort tickets for visits from May 16, 2025, through Aug. 14, 2025 — just in time for Disneyland® Resort's 70th Anniversary Celebration!

Spring Weather at Disneyland

Disneyland in spring brings lots of flowers and greenery, along with some of the most mild and manageable weather of the year. Across the board, Southern California has one of the best climates on the globe. It's usually warm and almost always dry. But the dry air makes the mornings and nights extra chilly. No matter what time of year it is, we always recommend bringing a jacket and layers. There's nothing quite like the brilliant California sunshine, but it can make a cool day feel hot while you're waiting for a ride or a churro. If you don't want to carry around a jacket all day, lockers are available for rent in both parks and the esplanade.

Surprise rain is not really a concern while in Southern California. It does, however, rain the most (out of the whole year) in the early spring months. So, check that weather app before hitting the parks to make sure you don't get caught with wet flippers. But as they say, April showers bring May flowers!

Our Favorite Reasons to Visit Disneyland in the Spring - Flowers in Town Square

In March, you'll see an average high of 67 degrees Fahrenheit and lows in the 50s. April stays about the same with an average high of 70 degrees and lows in the 50s. The 20-degree temperature drop after a long day can feel pretty drastic. More often than not, we find ourselves unable to resist buying that big, warm Mickey Mouse sweatshirt once the sun goes down, so plan ahead for the change in comfortability. The May average high is 71 degrees with a low of 57, but almost never with rain. And June brings hotter weather with an average high of 76 and low of 61 degrees. You can read more about the weather per month and what to bring with you in our month-by-month guide to Disneyland weather.

Spring Crowds at Disneyland

Crowds can get pretty heavy during the springtime thanks to school breaks during March and April. But knowing exactly when to go in the spring can land you with much fewer crowds than during busy seasons such as summertime and the holidays. Check out our Disneyland Spring break tips if you're planning a trip during these months. Weekdays in May and the beginning of June tend to have the least amount of crowds. Days that you can expect to be busy are April 20 (Easter), May 11 (Mother's Day) and May 27 (Memorial Day).

Be sure to check our Crowd Calendar for daily crowd levels and recommended parks.

Spring Events at Disneyland

In 2025, springtime brings some of the most exciting events, both new and returning. From separately ticketed after-hours events to celebrations you can enjoy on your regular park day, you can always expect something really fun to be hoppening.

Food and Wine Festival

Disney California Adventure hosts a few festivals throughout the year. From Feb. 28 to April 21, 2025, you can enjoy all that Food & Wine Festival has to offer. This year, there are more than 80 new California-inspired food and drink items at the festival marketplaces, as well as returning favorites. Anyone with a Disney California Adventure ticket and valid reservation can partake in the festival. Purchase a Sip and Savor Pass to save time and money if you're planning on enjoying more than a few bites! Separate from food booths, catch culinary demonstrations, character experiences, musical entertainment, crafts and more. Plus, Food & Wine brings back "Soarin' Over California" for a limited time.

90s Nite

Have you ever been to a Disney After Dark event? These separately ticketed evening events include music, special entertainment, event merchandise, rare characters, specialty foods and more. 90s Nite takes place March 4 and 6, 2025. This exciting event celebrates iconic Disney movies and fads from the 1990s, as well as the beloved characters and stories that made the Disney Renaissance. Fans are in for a rad night of music, characters, high-energy parties and extremely unique photo opportunities.

Season of the Force

Our Favorite Reasons to Visit Disneyland in the Spring - Season of the Force, Hyperspace Mountain

March 28 through May 11, 2025, is the best time to be a "Star Wars" fan. Season of the Force brings ride overlays, debuts new ride adventures and characters, and introduces special foods, beverages and merchandise. Plus, it also brings more parties and a new way to watch Disneyland fireworks in Star Wars: Galaxy's Edge. In 2025, there is a new projection show, and Disneyland has teased limited-time appearances of Luke Skywalker! Perhaps the most exciting part of Season of the Force is the return of the "Star Wars"-themed Space Mountain overlay, "Hyperspace Mountain."

Our Favorite Reasons to Visit Disneyland in the Spring - Star Wars Nite, Luke Leia and R2D2

Star Wars Nite

For eight select nights in April and May, Disneyland Park becomes a galaxy far, far away, providing out-of-this-world experiences, such as encounters with Luke and Leia, Darth Maul and Emperor Palatine, Jawas, the First Order and all the droids you are looking for! Guests can also enjoy themed snacks, merch and interactive activities, including a lightsaber instructional demonstration. You can dress as your favorite "Star Wars" character, meet rare characters and get your photo taken in front of themed backdrops. You'll be surrounded by like-minded super fans, see characters or troops in action and enjoy a special battle between the Light and Dark sides. Star Wars Nite takes place April 8, 10, 22, 24 and 29, and May 1, 4 and 6.

Dapper Day

Dapper Day is one of the most popular, and certainly the most fashionable, "unofficial” days at Disneyland, and in our froggy opinion, one of the most exciting Disneyland events in April. Guests get dressed up in their Sunday best to pay homage to the attendees when Disneyland first opened in 1955. On Disneyland Dapper Day, many guests wear vintage clothes from the 1950s or other eras. Over 10,000 guests in fancy frocks, white gloves, suits, ties and fedoras fill the park, magically transporting all guests back to another time when Walt Disney himself was still dreaming of Disneyland’s future. Dapper Day falls on April 13, 2025, in the park, with an expo at the Disneyland Hotel on April 12 and 13.

Eggstravaganza

On select days around Easter — March 25 to April 21, 2025 — join in the fun with an egg hunt! Eggs themed for fan-favorite characters are hidden around the resort for tadpoles and frogs of all ages to find and mark off on their search sheets. Once all the eggs have been found, you'll collect a prize. Each map costs $9.99, and there are different maps for each area.

Disneyland 70th Anniversary

Our Favorite Reasons to Visit Disneyland in the Spring - Disneyland 70th, Sleeping Beauty Castle rendering

Kicking off May 16, 2025, the Disneyland 70th Anniversary anniversary is set to be the most nostalgic and beautiful celebration of Disneyland Park. A Disneyland birthday is always fun to celebrate, but seven decades of magic is something really special. That's why Disneyland has some really special things in store! The return of Paint the Night Parade, Wondrous Journeys fireworks show and Better Together Parade, plus an all-new World of Color nighttime show are just the beginning. Special entertainment, colorful decor, character outfits, food, drinks, merchandise, a new projection show on the façade of "it's a small world" and a special "Mickey and Friends Celebrate Happy!" cavalcade will fill every day during this magical celebration. And the best part is it all comes with your regular park admission.

Discount Tickets and Hotel Stays

There are some great ticket deals for Disneyland in spring. Southern California residents can save up to $221 for a 3-day, 1 park per day ticket to use from Jan. 1 to May 15, 2025. That's $193 total for three days in the park! Children ages 3-9 can visit for as low as $50 per child with a 1-day, 1-park ticket from Jan. 7 to March 20, 2025. Save up to 25% on select stays at a Disneyland Resort hotel from March 23 to May 15, 2025. Or book your trip for the 70th anniversary early and save up to 35% on select stays between May 16 to Sept. 26, 2025, when you book before May 15, 2025.

All of these frogtastic savings can be made even bigger when you book through Undercover Tourist! As a licensed ticket seller for over 10 years, we know how to save you some green. In fact, we have a promo for adult tickets at child prices currently running!

Other Reasons to Visit Disneyland in Spring

Spring Flowers

Our Favorite Reasons to Visit Disneyland in the Spring - Disneyland flowers

As we mentioned before, the foliage at Disneyland in spring is truly magnificent. Whether you're going to a Disney event in April or planning a trip for May, there is no shortage of beauty. The pink tabebuia trees (which reside around the Partners Statue at the very end of Main Street U.S.A.) are one-of-a-kind but don't bloom for very long. Catch the pink trumpets in full bloom at the end of March and in April for their most radiant beauty.

Our Favorite Reasons to Visit Disneyland in the Spring - Toontown Picnic

We love to take advantage of the lovely spring weather and enjoy the green landscape over in Toontown. It's the perfect place for a perfect picnic. If you forget your picnic goods, no worries! You can pick up a blanket and picnic snacks right in Toontown.

Our Favorite Reasons to Visit Disneyland in the Spring - Cultivating the Magic tour

Sometimes in the spring, you'll see a special guided tour just for flowers pop up! We haven't seen it yet for 2025, but keep an eye out in case it does. Cultivating the Magic is a separately ticketed, guided tour through Disneyland. Your highly knowledgeable tour guide will take you around the park stopping to tell you all about the flowers and trees throughout the park. You even get to jump on Jungle Cruise with your guide and learn the history of some amazing plants on the ride's banks.
