Disneyland Halloween Time - Mickey Pumpkin at Night

Overview of Disneyland Halloween Time

Mickey & Minnie Halloween Time outfits art

Disneyland Halloween Time is a spooky-fun celebration taking place all across Disneyland Resort from Aug. 21 through Oct. 31, 2026. With seasonal entertainment, special decorations (like the iconic Mickey pumpkin on Main Street!) and characters in new costumes every year, it's one of our very favorite times to visit the Disneyland Resort. Just like the rest of us, characters get new costumes each year, and you'll even find car-stumes in Cars Land. And what's the Halloween season without treats?!

Plaza de La Familia also takes place at Disney California Adventure Park during this time, celebrating the world of "Coco" and Dia de los Muertos. Just like Halloween Time, Plaza de La Familia is included with your general admission to Disney California Adventure Park.

The Oogie Boogie Bash — A Disneyland Halloween Party officially returns to Disney California Adventure for select nights during the season. This party is a separately ticketed event that runs during Disneyland Halloween Time. It's one of our Frog Family's favorite events of the year! But even if you don't attend the party, there is so much Halloween fun to be had at Disneyland during Halloween Time. Oogie Boogie Bash runs on select Sunday, Tuesday and Thursday nights from Aug. 18 through Oct. 31, 2026. (It's kicking off before Halloween Time starts in 2026!)

When Should I Plan My Halloween Time Visit?

August and September (though hot) are generally better times of the year to visit Disneyland crowd-wise, but Halloween Time definitely brings in visitors, especially on weekends. Visit late in August, early in September and on a weekday, if you can. The earlier you go in the season, the lighter the crowds seem to be. Expect early October through Columbus Day/Indigenous Peoples' Day and Halloween weekend to be the most crowded.

If you want some motivation to visit between Aug. 21 and Labor Day, the Kids Summer Ticket offer is still running through Sept. 7, 2026. That means you can take kids ages 3-9 to Disneyland for as low as $48 per day through Undercover Tourist. Plus, you can save up to 30% on select Disneyland Resort hotel stays through Sept. 8, 2026!

If you are looking for the cheapest days to visit during Halloween Time, besides the Kids Summer Ticket deal through Sept. 7, consider Sept. 8, 9, 15, 16, 17, 21, 2,, 23, 24 and 29. Adult 1-day tickets are just $104 those days!

The official and unofficial September events will make reservations fill up more quickly than usual. Gay Days take place from Sept. 18-20, 2026, so that could make the parks a little busier than normal that weekend. The first three weeks of October happen to be fall break times for many schools, so you'll see crowd levels peak for the Halloween season during those weeks. You'll want to reserve early for those times for theme parks and hotel stays.

Disneyland Kids' Summer Ticket Deal! Save up to $368 on Kids' Summer Tickets at Disneyland® Resort, including a FREE Park Hopper ticket upgrade on select tickets. Plus, get a FREE $20 Dining Dollars credit with each ticket purchase, which can be used to save 15% on Disney Gift Cards!

Our Spooky-Good Guide to Disneyland Halloween Time - Halloween decor

This timeframe also sees Tier 0 days, which are the lowest-priced 1-day ticket tiers. While the cheapest days to visit, Tier 0 days also bring in more visitors. Looking for 1-day Disneyland tickets? Undercover Tourist offers a 365-day refund policy, so you can shop with confidence. But with so much to see and do during the season, our recommendation is at least a 2-Day ticket. You can save on multi-day Disneyland tickets through Undercover Tourist (up to $58 per ticket!) No matter which Disneyland ticket you buy through Undercover Tourist, you also get $20 in FREE Dining Dollars credits that can be used towards a discount Disney Gift Card.

Tier 0 Disneyland Days During Halloween Time

  • Sept. 8, 9, 15, 16, 17, 21, 22, 23, 24, 29

So, what can you expect at Halloween Time at Disneyland, Disney California Adventure and Downtown Disney?

Halloween Time at Disneyland Park

Our Spooky-Good Guide to Disneyland Halloween Time - Pumpkin characters over the park entrance

Disneyland explodes with Halloween decorations from Aug. 21 to Oct. 31 in 2026, boasting fall colors of yellow and orange and pumpkins aplenty, especially on Main Street. Pass under Disney character pumpkins as you enter the park and view a masked Mickey living floral arrangement.

As you stroll down Main Street, you will find hundreds of hand-carved pumpkins, which are lit at night. You can miss the giant two-sided Mickey pumpkin.

The Mickey pumpkin, jack-o-lanterns and orange bunting take over main Street U.S.A., and when you enter the park, you'll see a masked Mickey floral. Look for new additions to the ring of pumpkins surrounding the Partners Statue in the Hub. They pay homage to Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge with carvings of Chewbacca and the Millennium Falcon!

Mickey, Minnie, Donald, Daisy, Goofy, Pluto and Chip 'n' Dale greet guests in their Halloween costumes. The 2026 outfits feature harlequin motifs, frilled collars and cuffs, and swirling confection details in hues of orange, yellow and black. The villains may be stalking about in Main Street, U.S.A., Fantasy Faire and Fantasyland.

Our Spooky-Good Guide to Disneyland Halloween Time - Frontierland Dia de los Muertos Skeleton

In Frontierland, you can find a traditional Día de los Muertos skeleton display in Rancho del Zocalo Park. The skeleton figurines are known as catrinas and calacas. You also see colorful marigolds and other items that are traditionally found on ofrendas. It's a great place to meet Miguel or Mirabel. You can read all about the ways to celebrate in our Dia de los Muertos at Disneyland post.

A tree in Frontierland plays homage to Disney fan and author, Ray Bradbury, in the Halloween Tree. The tree, near the Golden Horseshoe Saloon, was inspired by Bradbury's novel, "The Halloween Tree," and features orange glowing lights and jack-o-lanterns hanging from its branches. It's especially beautiful at night!

If you are looking for Mickey, Minnie and pals in their normal clothes (for a timeless photo), you can find them in Mickey's Toontown. They do not wear costumes or decorate for Halloween there.

Halloween Screams Projection Show

Our Spooky-Good Guide to Disneyland Halloween Time - Oogie Boogie and Halloween Screams fireworks

At Disneyland Park, all guests can enjoy the nightly (through October) Halloween Screams projection show! Fireworks are included on select nights (typically weekends and holidays). Check the calendar to see show times and if fireworks are included during your visit. Hop over to find out the best places to view Disneyland fireworks. Halloween Screams is a Frog Family must-see!

It's definitely worth waiting near the castle to see this show up close due to all of the special effects at the castle. Keep an eye out for Jack Skellington and for Zero flying past the castle!

Disneyland Halloween Time Ride Layover

Our Spooky-Good Guide to Disneyland Halloween Time-Haunted Mansion Holiday at night

The Haunted Mansion transforms for Halloween Time as Haunted Mansion Holiday. Haunted Mansion Holiday ran Aug. 22, 2025, through Jan. 7, 2026, with exact dates for the Halloween season in 2026 TBD. That means Haunted Mansion was closed Aug. 9-21, 2025, to place the overlay.

Our Spooky-Good Guide to Disneyland Halloween Time - Haunted Mansion Holiday

Haunted Mansion Holiday is usually one of the most popular rides during Halloween Time at Disneyland. Haunted Mansion is converted to Tim Burton's "The Nightmare Before Christmas." The layover usually lasts through Halloween Time and Holiday Time, converting back to the traditional Haunted Mansion in January. The Mansion lights up at night — try to be there for the lighting. There is no specific time but if you are in the area (or in line) between 7 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. the Ghost Host will give you a treat by lighting the mansion.

Our Spooky-Good Guide to Disneyland Halloween Time - Haunted Mansion overlay

The ballroom always has a large gingerbread house on the table (with yummy gingerbread smells wafting up). It changes every year. Can you spot the hidden Mickey in the plates on the table?

Our Spooky-Good Guide to Disneyland Halloween Time - Jack Skellington in Haunted Mansion

It takes about 2 to 2.5 weeks to convert the Haunted Mansion into the Haunted Mansion Holiday (leading to ride closures). The ride is closed in January for a few weeks to return it to the normal Haunted Mansion ride. Normal Haunted Mansion is back as of mid- to late-January, and it will remain until early August.

Our Spooky-Good Guide to Disneyland Halloween Time - Sally in Haunted Mansion Holiday

Characters in Disneyland Park During Halloween Time

Disneyland Halloween Time - Chip in superhero costume

You can meet Mickey, Minnie, Goofy, Pluto, Chip, Dale and more friends dressed in their all-new Halloween outfits in Town Square.

Our Spooky-Good Guide to Disneyland Halloween Time - New Jack Skellington

Jack and Sally are in New Orleans Square near the Royal Street Veranda. They usually arrive about 11 a.m. and visit with guests through the afternoon. Jack got a brand-new look in 2025! His face now resembles a round Jack Skellington skeleton head, more like the one you see in "Nightmare Before Christmas."

Our Spooky-Good Guide to Disneyland Halloween Time - Evil Stepmother and step sisters in cavalcade

Villains are out for Halloween! Cruella de Vil, Queen of Hearts, Jafar and others sometimes stomp around near the entrance to the park by the train station or the area next to the Mad Hatter in Town Square. We have caught sight of Frollo, Governor Ratcliffe and others in past years. You never know which villains may appear during Halloween Time! Maleficent and the Evil Queen tend to lurk around Fantasyland and Sleeping Beauty Castle. And don't froget about Gaston. Not that you can ignore him. He wants to keep your attention on him.

Our Spooky-Good Guide to Disneyland Halloween Time - Maleficent in cavalcade

The best way to see a lot of villains at once is to watch the Halloween Cavalcade in the afternoon.

Halloween Cavalcade (and Happiest March on Earth)

Our Spooky-Good Guide to Disneyland Halloween Time - Characters in cavalcade float

In 2025, you had several hopportunities to see the characters in their Halloween costumes. (Aside from meet and greets.) There were two Halloween Cavalcades each afternoon.

Our Spooky-Good Guide to Disneyland Halloween Time - Cruella in cavalcade

This mini parade has all your favorite Disney characters, plus the villains you love to hate (including Maleficent, the Evil queen, the Queen of Hearts, Cruella and more!

Times can be found in the Disneyland app by typing in "Cavalcade." But it generally runs twice a day in the afternoon at 1:30 and 2:45 p.m. It's short and sweet and a great way to see a lot of characters all at once.

In addition, you can join Mickey, Minnie and pals in the Happiest March on Earth with the Disneyland Band. It starts at the castle and travels to the Train Station in Town Square. The characters wear their costumes for this. In usually starts about 12:15 p.m. at the castle and arrives at the train station about 12:30. The band and characters put on a short performance in front of the train station.

Happiest Haunts Tour

Our Spooky-Good Guide to Disneyland Halloween Time - Haunted Mansion exterior

If you cannot get enough of Halloween at Disneyland, you might want to look into Disney's Happiest Haunts Guided Tour. The two-hour guided tour in Disneyland Park includes chilling stories, thrilling experiences, Lightning Lane entry for a ride and preferred viewing for Halloween Screams, a nighttime spectacular! (The viewing is likely near the Partners statue in the Hub.) It's the only way to get a special photo op (in the past it was with the Hitchhiking Ghosts from the Haunted Mansion). The tour also comes with souvenirs: a pin and trading cards. Find the details in our Disneyland tours post.

Halloween at Disney California Adventure Park

Our Spooky-Good Guide to Disneyland Halloween Time 2026 - A new Oogie Boogie Image sits above entrance

Disney California Adventure offers a few grim grinning ghouls and ghosts of its own. Oogie Boogie's oversized shadow haunts the main entrance of Disney California Adventure. Listen for his voice to speak out to you from time to time. Head over to the Headless Horseman statue on Buena Vista Street. Boo-tiful purple lights are aglow, and you can hear the faint clip-clop sounds of the horse or Oogie Boogie himself.

Our Spooky-Good Guide to Disneyland Halloween Time - Cars Land Honkin' Halloween sign

Our Spooky-Good Guide to Disneyland Halloween Time 2026 - MaterCars Land is decorated for the day, but it is particularly breathtaking at night in all its purple and green spooky splendor. "Radiator Screams" lights up each night around sunset, with a special lighting song at Halloween Time. Keep an eye out for Oogie Boogie Bash dates when you make your theme park reservations. Disney California Adventure closes early for day guests on those nights. (Or, check out Undercover Tourist's Disneyland Crowd Calendar to see park hours, including event dates, all in one spot!)

Oogie Boogie Bash

The Oogie Boogie Bash is a separately ticketed Halloween party that takes place on select nights from during Halloween Time at Disney California Adventure. This after-hours party requires a separate ticket but needs no reservation. Hop over to our Oogie Boogie Bash Disneyland Halloween Party post for the dates and full scoop and all of the scary details.

The party is one of the rare times guests 14 and up can wear costumes to Disneyland. Guests of all ages can go trick-or-treating and enjoy special entertainment and unique character meet-and-greets with classic Disney characters in costumes and many Disney villains. The ride wait times tend to be shorter during the Disneyland Halloween Parties — what a treat!

Our Spooky-Good Guide to Disneyland Halloween Time Oogie Boogie Bash projections on Carthay Circle

If you're not attending Oogie Boogie Bash, visit Disney California Adventure on a non-event night to catch this park all aglow for Halloween Time. Seeing Disney California Adventure at night during Halloween Time is a must.

Our Spooky-Good Guide to Disneyland Halloween Time 2026 - Cars Land is lit at night

Be sure to check the dates of the Oogie Boogie Bash before you book your park reservations when visiting Disney California Adventure Park this season, and reserve a day without a party so you can stay in the park after dark. The park closes to daytime guests at 6 p.m. on party nights (mostly Sundays, Tuesdays and Thursdays). Party guests mix in beginning at 3 p.m., making that park more crowded in the afternoons and unavailable to guests without a party ticket during the evenings after 6 p.m.

Plaza de la Familia at Disney California Adventure (Aug. 21 through Nov. 2, 2026)

Our Spooky-Good Guide to Disneyland Halloween Time - Miguel puppet meet and greet

Any "Coco" fans out there? You won't want to miss visiting the Plaza de la Familia at Paradise Gardens Park. You can even meet the puppet Miguel in between performances of "The Storytellers of Plaza de la Familia Celebrate The Musical World of Coco!" Listen to live mariachi music at the Paradise Garden Bandstand.

In fact, there's so much to do, see and eat at Plaza de la Familia that we've created a whole guide to celebrating Dia de los Muertos at the Disneyland Resort! Read all about the entertainment, free crafts, foods and more you can find in Paradise Gardens Park during Halloween Time.

Halloween Ride Overlays at Disney California Adventure

Prepare for Cars Land to roll into the Halloween spirit with holiday decor, music, ride overlays and characters dressed in fun "cars-tumes."

The rides put a new spin on Halloween Time with Halloween overlays. (The overlays were available a week before Halloween Time officially starts in 2025!) Muffle your screams when Luigi's Rollickin' Roadsters changes to Luigi's Honkin' Haul-O-Ween and Mater's Junkyard Jamboree becomes Mater's Graveyard JamBOOree.

Visit "Radiator Screams" at night to take in the "gourd-geous" Halloween scenery, special lighting and backdrop of hills in bewitching Halloween colors. It's quite a family-friendly treat!

Braver souls should get ready to #SaveGroot at Guardians of the Galaxy — Monsters After Dark. Guardians of the Galaxy — Mission: BREAKOUT! gets into the Halloween spirit during Halloween Time at the Disneyland Resort. In fact, it opened a week early (each day at 3 p.m.) in August 2025! Each evening, the attraction transforms into a new experience that continues the story of the daytime ride, but now guests need to help Rocket Raccoon save Groot. It's a lot scarier than the daytime ride with a heavy metal soundtrack, so consider that if you have tadpoles who are just tall enough to ride the daytime version. They might find Monsters After Dark to be too much.

Guide to Disneyland Halloween Time 2026 - Guardians of the Galaxy Monsters After Dark Wait Times

This is a very popular ride with long wait times! You can check hours on the Disneyland site. Each afternoon (party or not), the regular version of the ride closes at 2 p.m. and reopens by 3 p.m. for Monsters After Dark. So if you are park hopping from Disneyland and want to ride the OG Guardians of the Galaxy, hop over before 1 p.m., and head straight to Guardians to ride before 2 p.m. Then you can hop back later for the Monsters After Dark version. If you are riding on party nights and do not have a party ticket, you'll have from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. to ride this version. If you have a party ticket, you'll have all night to ride Monsters After Dark, but will not have access to the normal version of the ride. Got all that? It's a real headbanger.

Mickey’s Trick & Treat Show

Our Spooky-Good Guide to Disneyland Halloween Time 2026 - Mickey's Trick and treat show

The tadpoles have a not-so-scary interactive stage show starring Mickey Mouse, Minnie, Goofy and Donald (along with a mad scientist). It takes place in the Disney Theatre (replacing the new Disney Jr. Mickey Mouse Clubhouse Live! during the Halloween season). Enjoy dancing, age-appropriate scary tales and bubbles. This show is a great Halloween Time addition for toddlers and small children. Plus, you get a treat at the end!

This show is pretty popular. Get in line early. The shows do fill up.

We went last night and I was a little disappointed. 1- my mistake was going on a Friday over a Monday or Wednesday as my son fell asleep by 9:15. 2- pretty sure they are selling g more tickets than they used to. Last year there were barely any lines for candy and all lines were 15 minutes or less for rides. Yesterday we didn't even bother with the candy becomes I wanted our some to ride as many rides before he passed out. Mansion was 30 minutes and space mountain was still an hour and they weren't doing fast passes. I'll rethink next year. We did Califorania adventure on Thursday and nothing was over 10 minutes. It's all about knowing when to go.

The parade was nice as were the fireworks.

We did get on 8 rides from 4-9 before he passed out. Sadly 3 different rides broke down, apparently we are bad luck, Rodger rabbit, Pirates, and the haunted mansion all broke down.

Hello,

I have been excited to take my 3 kids (ages: 2, 4, 9), sister and mother. We are all dressing up as characters from Aladdin! We got tickets for 10/31 and the expense was a little over budget for me but I always say "we will go next year" and have never gone... I plan to arrive at the park at 2pm... from your past experience, where should we "hang out" until they start handing out wrist bands? Do you know if they do anything different ON Halloween versus any other night?!

Hi!

We have tickets for the Halloween party October 3, and have 2 little ones in our party under 3. Can we just bring them in with us when we get to the party? Or do they need some sort of ticket too?

I have a question. I've gone to the Halloween Party the last couple years and they've always had some kind of dance party (it was at tomorrowland terrace before). My daughter loves going over and dancing and taking a break from trick or treating. This year I can't find anything about one. Is there a dance party this year?

There is some live entertainment, music and dancing in Tomorrowland, but it has not been promoted as a dance party. There is Jedi Training at 7:30, 9:00 and 10:05 p.m. instead of a dance party.

Can you shed some light on what constitutes as a mask? I wanted to bring a 12 x 8 cardboard cutout on a popsicle stick of my husband's face to the park. He can't make the event this Friday and my family wanted to bring it and take a photo (that he's with us in spirit). Do you know if this is allowed or will be rejected at security?

absolutely loving this entire post-- so many great tips and tricks! My fiance and I will be out there for the very first time and we got tickets to the Halloween party-- but we were planning on spending the whole day in the park... Do you know how it works in terms of getting your wristband and trick or treating bag if you're already in the park? Would we have to leave and turn right back around and go back in?

I suppose that's not terrible, just adds an extra step. Thanks!

Hi Lindsay,

As early as three hours before the party starts (so 4 p.m. for a 7 p.m. party) you can go to the entrance for your wristband and trick or treat bags. If you are already in the park, you do not need to exit and re-enter. There are check-in stations in the park and one near the entrance to Frontierland. Cast members will need to scan your party ticket to give you a wristband. The good news is you have a three-hour window to do this before the party gets started.

Part of my family went to the Halloween party last year and loved it. I'm taking another child down and we're looking forward to it. Since this is a trip for us we bought the Halloween party tix plus 1 day 1 park tix for earlier in the day. We're spending one night in a DL hotel, we'll hit DCA bright and early with the hotel guest early entry, spend the day there, then head over to DL for the party later that afternoon. It was only $19 more per person than a 1 day park hopper pass but also gives us 3 additional hours. And yes, that extra morning hour is costing us quite a bit (steep hotel cost) but we're only in the parks 1 day total so it'll add a less crowded hour to our day! We're looking forward to the party and the family members not going are looking forward to some candy when we get back :)

Hi Karla,

The good news is that FastPasses are free to all guests. Just put your ticket in the kiosk, and it will give you your FastPass with return window. Tower of Terror will be open, but it is in California Adventure, while the party is at Disneyland Park. If you do not have a second day to visit that park, we suggest a Park Hopper. During the day, Tower of Terror is the classic ride, and after twilight it is more in the dark and without some sound effects (so you do not know when you are going to drop).

Hi. I was wondering, for the Halloween event, is it worth it just for adults to go with no kids? My husband and I do enjoy Disneyland but have not been to their Halloween event, also we don't have any kids yet. Plus I am assuming your posts are from the Halloween event as well? One more questions, if my husband and I do decide to attend the event, were there some adults who did not even dress up? (From your tips, I would like to attend the even because of the characters - especially the villains. Oh and I can't forget the fireworks and riding the rides at night are sometimes better than the day).

Does the special Halloween parade run twice, like an early one and a later one? What time of the party do you recommend to ride the rides without totally missing out on the fireworks and parade? Also, are there fastpasses offered during the party? I tried to read through every comment to not be redundant so I apologize if I am asking something you already answered lol thanks!

Hi Colette,

The parade runs twice at 8:30 and 10:30 p.m. most nights. Headless Horseman runs through about 10 minutes before parade. Fireworks at at the Castle at 9:30. Watch the later parade to avoid some crowds. Ride times will drop as the night rolls on, so plan to stay until the end. Expect the crowd to thin after fireworks and especially after second parade. We can't recall if there were FastPasses during the party last year. Ride times dropped quite a bit after 8 p.m. so we did not need the passes.

Hi Colette,

They may all be similarly crowded. We recommend basing your visit on what you wish to see in the park. The first weekend will be full-swing Halloween. Dapper Day is at Disneyland on Saturday and Disney California Adventure on Sunday (so you could try going to the the opposite park), the second weekend will be transitioning between the holidays (and is usually a quiet time) and since Dapper Day is officially on the Sunday, the Saturday might not be as crowded as Sunday. The third weekend will be the first weekend of the holiday season with all the holiday entertainment. That could be fun, and while race weekends are usually very crowded, several lower annual passes are blocked out Friday, Saturday, and Sunday, which keeps a lot of locals out of the parks.

Hi Lola,

You can dress up when you enter the park as early as 4 p.m. (or three hours before the party starts). The bracelets are adjustable and all partygoers should wear them, but if you will not be separated from your little one, then you can ask Disney employees if you can wear it for her. They will give you a map with parades, character meet-and-greets, and trick-or-treat stations. The parade route generally runs from the entrance by the Mad Hatter to "it's a small world." It can run either direction, so be sure to ask a Cast Member if you are not sure.

Hi Michelle,

The Halloween Party is generally not scary at all and is a lot of fun. The only thing that might be a tad bit scary this year is the Headless Horseman who will be heading down Main Street ahead of the parade. There are some great princess/character meet-and-greets at the party. The rides are usually less crowded than usual. If they have trouble staying up late, you might do Disneyland on a non-party day and just do California Adventure on the day of the party, because the party does run late.

Hi Amber,

The weather should be pleasant as SoCal moves into fall. Still warm but with a nice crisp in the air in the morning. Be sure to check the weather, because it can still reach high temperatures, although it has been a very mild fall so far... The crowds should not be too bad then, especially in the mornings. We have been there on those dates and found the park crowds light in the a.m. Wednesday is the party day, so that may be more crowded, especially in the afternoon.

We think it is a bit pricey for the location you got back when it was Paint the Night. We do not prefer that location, because it is not the best place to watch fireworks. You will want to see the castle for sure. They did not disclose the viewing location for the party (which could be better than it used to be—if they can guarantee viewing by the castle then that would be much more valuable and helpful in avoiding the crowds). Keep in mind that you may not want to spend your party time eating a fancy dinner either. If you can stay up to see the second parade you will have your pick of locations after the fireworks end. That was our best strategy for Paint the Night and it worked out great. We plopped on a curb or bench after fireworks and had a great spot on Main Street for the parade.

Great information, this makes me really excited to go as this will be our first Halloween at Disney! I know you suggested on not buying a daytime pass and the party pass for the same day. However, my family of three are only spending 2 nights in Cali. We are driving in on Sunday, and Monday would be the day we spend the whole day at the park. Would you recommend splitting the days? Should we buy a one day pass for Sunday and the party pass for Monday? I do have a 3 year old son, well he would still be 2, turning 3 the week after our visit to Disney. I know we will have fun, we just want to make sure we don't miss anything.

Hi Irene,

You can definitely buy two full days and the party, especially if you have a limited time. Park Hoppers will help you fit it all in. Be aware that with a child that age, he will need to take naps and breaks—Disneyland can be very stimulating and exhausting—especially if you want him to make it through the party. So a full day at Disneyland plus the party at night might be a bit much for a little one. We think spitting the days might be easier on your child, but you know him best and if he can take a full day at Disneyland with a good nap session and then the party at night, then go for it.

Hi Eric,

Having Park Hoppers can help you get the best of both worlds and avoid crowds. You can also just got to DCA those days if park hoppers are out of your budget, but on multi-day tickets, the Park Popper price per day is much less of a jump than for single days. Disneyland has not released the entertainment calendar for October yet, but there most likely will not be fireworks during the week. After Sept. 5, it will most likely be on Friday through Sunday nights. You can see the Halloween Party fireworks from outside the park though—ask you hotel if you have a fireworks view. If not, we sometimes watch from the roof of the Mickey and Friends parking structure or some areas of Downtown Disney or the esplanade between the two parks.

They start taking the decorations down right after Halloween to put up Christmas. We were there a lot right after Halloween last year and it took about 11 days to take down Halloween as they are simultaneously put up Christmas, so you might see a bit of Halloween and Christmas in that time. It seemed that the pumpkins over the entrance gates stayed the longest.

The free parking isn't being offered this year:( and i suggest bringing extra big bags because they give you way more snacks than can fit in the bag they give you.

Is there some special going on the 31st of October? Or just the same that it's going on the days before of Halloween day?

So I have a question about the parade. Since Paint the Night parade is said to be gone after October 9th from disneyland do you know if they will show it at all for the Halloween Parties? I don't see any mention of a parade at all on their website, at least not one that I can find.

My partner and i are beyond excited to be attending this years Halloween celebrations. I am slightly disappointed not to see Hocus Pocus being featured again but i am sure it will still be an amazing, fun filled evening.

Hi Becky,

They either run from 6 p.m.-11 p.m. or 7 p.m.-midnight, depending on the date. I will add these in!

I've been on the Disney site and I don't see any times listed for when the fireworks or the Halloween Parades start?

Hi Adam,

They do not have any parades listed. Fireworks are usually about 9:30 p.m., but to get the most correct information you should consult the entertainment guide they will hand you when you enter the park that day. It will have all the trick or treat stations, character meet and greets, fireworks time, and the time for the headless horsemen or any other entertainment.

Hi I have just brought tickets to the Halloween party on 23 October. We have two days which we can spend between Disneyland and Disneys California adventure so I am tossing up weather to buy the 2 day one park per day ticket as it's cheaper and with having the Halloween party ticket that will give us extra time in Disneyland or if I'm best to buy the 2 day park hopper tickets. Amy recommendations on what would work best to allow us to see the most of both parks and stand in the least ques possible? Thanks

Hi Rachel,

You can still do a lot with doing one park per day. Just be sure to use FastPasses and arrive before park opening to take advantage of early morning low wait times. Once the Halloween party gets underway the wait times at Disneyland become a lot shorter than usual too. Be sure to watch the Halloween fireworks in front of the castle.

Hi,

How early does toon town open? In the past it was 5:00 pm it would be helpful if it was earlier. Is there a parade with the headless horseman? I was hoping they'd go back to the costume cavalcade vs. Paint the night. FYI parking is not included for 2016. Also if it does rain like it did last year for our date Disney won't hand out treats in the rain (I gather it's a potential lawsuit). Some treat stations and characters moved inside but good luck finding them.

Hi Nicole,

The Headless Horseman will be joined by a procession of friends, but they do not call it a parade. We will be there the first night of the party to see the Headless Horseman for the first time, so stay tuned for more information. They have not released any nighttime entertainment schedules past Sept. 5, but Paint the Night, Disneyland Forever and the current version of World of Color will be ending then. It is unusual for it to rain in Southern California before November—fingers crossed for better weather this time. They have not released the opening of Toon Town, but we will find out when we attend the party.

Thanks for the head's up about parking. That is a disappointment and worth noting, especially since the cost of a party ticket went up this year.

Hi Raul,

Paint the Night will have its last night Sept. 5, along with Disneyland Forever and the current version of World of Color. There is no word on what might replace the parade and fireworks show, although the original World of Color will return.

Hi! We're going to be taking our 2 year old daughter for Halloween. I plan on purchasing tickets for Mickey's Halloween party. I was just wondering though if you had an idea on how fast tickets sell out, especially for Halloween night? I know they go on sale the 28th but I was wondering if I'd be able to wait til July 31st to purchase the tickets. Thanks in advance!

We planned our 5 year old sons first Disney Vacation for October 24th,25th and 26th. We haven't bought tickets yet but our dates and hotel are set and hard to change at this time. Would we get a comparable trip to regular full days if we just do the Halloween events on both the 24th and 26th since they both allow early entry and have fewer people and then do DCA all day on they 25th. It seems like a waste of money to buy Disneyland tickets on the days of the Halloween events only to get a few extra hours. I hate to scratch the whole trip over this, but I'm optimistic this 3 day trip might work out better with the lower crowd attendance, meaning more rides and fewer lines.

Hi Chris,

If you do the two Halloween events and then a full day at DCA, you should have a great time. Be aware that when you go in for early entry to the Halloween party it will be very crowded in the beginning while the park is still open to guests and partygoers. But then it will thin out when the park closes to the public. Try to make sure everyone rests so you can stay late. Be sure to buy now because tickets sell out weeks in advance.

You have to call Disney directly. You can't buy it online unless you are a Passholder. When the phone line opens up expect to wait at least 40 min for a cast member to take your call

Hi Jeannette,

Yes, Disneyland generally closes the two around mid/end of August and reopen them usually around the middle of September. For an example, Haunted Mansion closed August 24 and opened on Sept. 11.

This was so helpful! Thank you! I am currently planning a trip for this fall, and I am a first time annual pass holder. I am going with a friend who doesn't hold an annual pass. Will I be able to buy 2 passes for the party when they become available for annual pass holders? Or just those who hold an annual pass may buy a pass for themselves?
