Inside This Post

Welcome to Pueblo Esperanza! This new land themed around Tropical Americas will open at Animal Kingdom in 2027. The space will include two signature attractions that feature new "Encanto" and "Indiana Jones" adventures, as well as an animal-themed carousel and dining and shopping experiences. Let's explore all the details we know so far, including details about the Dinoland, USA closures (the last day to experience will be Feb. 1 before it closes Feb. 2, 2026).

What We Know About Tropical Americas at Animal Kingdom

At Animal Kingdom today, you can step into Africa and Asia from Discovery Island — and soon, the Tropical Americas. Complete with Disney's signature storytelling, Pueblo Esperanza is a village in the middle of a lush jungle with a long, rich history.

The sprawling space will have a large fountain in the center where villagers like to gather and tell stories. The town's woodcarver has created a giant carousel featuring his favorite animals from Disney stories. Plus, you'll be able to refuel at the large hacienda, which will house one of the largest quick-service restaurants at Disney World.

And that's not all! Tropical Americas will also feature two signature attractions that will take you on new adventures alongside the Madrigal Family and Indiana Jones.

Construction has already started, as of Jan. 13, 2025, when the first phase of Dinoland USA closures began. DINOSAUR will permanently close Feb. 2, 2026, and it's expected that Tropical Americas will open in 2027. Stay tuned! We'll be sure to update this guide as we learn more details in the future.

Encanto in Tropical Americas

Tropical Americas Animal Kingdom - Encanto Ride

The first time I watched "Encanto," I remember thinking how awesome it'd be to explore Antonio's magical bedroom. And guess what?! This first-ever "Encanto"-themed ride will do just that! Come inside the Casita, where Antonio has just received his special gift of talking to animals and his room has transformed into a rainforest. This ride will take you on an adventure with Antonio and other members of the Madrigal family.

Indiana Jones in Tropical Americas

In this brand-new venture, Indiana Jones has discovered a Mayan temple that may house a legendary mythical creature buried deep within. He wants to find out if the rumors are true, so he brings us along on his quest. Will there be snakes ... ?

This ride will be unique and toadally different from any other Indiana Jones experience at Disney Parks around the world.

When Is Dinoland USA Closing?

Tropical Americas - TriceraTop Spin

Dinoland USA has closed in phases, starting Jan. 13, 2025. This date was the final day for TriceraTop Spin, Fossil Fun Games and the Chester & Hester's Dinosaur Treasures gift shop.

The last day to play at The Boneyard was Sept. 1, 2025. The Boneyard permanently closed Sept. 2, 2025.

The remainder of Dinoland — including DINOSAUR, Restaurantosaurus, Dino-Bite Snacks and Trilo-Bites — is confirmed to close Feb. 2, 2026, with Feb. 1 being the last day to experience it all.

For future closure announcements, we'll be sure to update this guide, or you can hop over to our Disney World refurbishments post, which we update weekly.

The Frog Family can't wait to explore new adventures in Tropical Americas at Animal Kingdom. What are you most looking forward to? Let us know in the comments!

Something I have still yet to see answered: will there be live animal exhibits as there are in four of the other five areas of the park?
