With the launch of Universal Mega Movie Summer, Universal Studios Hollywood becomes the ultimate destination for film fans, thrill seekers and anyone looking to make the most of their summer in Southern California. The park will be bursting with limited-time experiences, exclusive eats and larger-than-life moments that bring iconic movies to life like never before.

Overview of Universal Mega Movie Summer
Get ready for the ultimate summer blockbuster experience at Universal Studios Hollywood. From June 13 to Aug. 10, 2025, Universal Mega Movie Summer transforms the park into a movie lover's dream. You won't want to miss the exclusive experiences, thrilling entertainment, themed eats and must-snap photo ops. These offerings run daily, and are open to all park guests (so there isn't a separate ticket needed like Halloween Horror Nights or Fan Fest Nights). Whether you're looking to beat the heat, hang with friends or party in the park, this summer is going to be legendary. Check out our Universal Studios Hollywood events guide to see what you can expect all year long!
Jurassic World – The Ride Featuring Mosasaurus Splash
In honor of the upcoming "Jurassic World Rebirth" (roaring into theaters July 2, 2025), this dinosaur-filled thrill ride is getting a prehistoric upgrade. Expect four new Spitter dinos and extra water geysers. Listen for a giant Mosasaurus roar as you plunge down the epic 84-foot drop. You'll also spot an adorable, brand-new dinosaur alongside Blue, Juliet and Baby Tango.
Snap a pic with the towering Spinosaurus photo op and try your luck in Compy's scavenger hunt around the park. And the food’s getting a makeover too! Jurassic Café is serving up prehistoric bites, while Isla Nubar debuts two new cocktails: The Jurassic Water Rebirth and Spicy Jurassic Pearadise.
Celebrate 50 Years of "Jaws"
This summer marks the 50th anniversary of "Jaws," and Universal Studios Hollywood is bringing back the iconic hanging shark! Snap photos with the ginormous creature and say hello to Captain Quint and Chief Brody for themed meet-and-greets. On the Studio Tour, you’ll see Jaws on the Hollywood Sign replica, situated along the backlot hillside, and the infamous Jaws Lake attraction as it celebrates a summer-long Fourth of July!
Don’t miss the Amity Island Cafe (a seasonal takeover of Hollywood & Dine) serving up shark-tastic eats such as a Lobster Roll, Shark Bait Burger, Vegan Crab Cake Sandwich, Fish and Chips, Fish and Chicken Basket, Shark Fin Funnel Cake, Amity Beach Lifesaver Doughnut and an Amity Island Parfait. Plus, enjoy fun, new drinks such as The Shark Bite cocktail and Amity Open Water (nonalcoholic).
"Back to the Future" Turns 40!
Great Scott! The Time Machine is back on display near Mel’s Diner. And Doc Brown, Marty McFly and Einstein will be on hand for timeless photo ops. And catch a special screening of the original film at Universal Cinema, an AMC theater, on July 3, 2025!
Feeling hungry? Mel’s is going all-in with a Back to the Future menu: Flux Capacitor Patty Melt, Doc Brown’s Chicken Pot Pie, Time Traveler’s Milkshake, Wake Up Juice Cocktail and more.
"Wicked" Fun at the Entrance
Elphaba and Glinda are stepping out for summer! Snap a photo with these fan-favorite witches from “Wicked” at the colorful themed photo op right by the park entrance.
Toothless Lands in Universal Plaza
Say hello to a massive 730-pound Toothless from the upcoming live-action "How to Train Your Dragon" movie (also releasing June 13, 2025). Standing nearly 6 feet tall and stretching 24 feet long, this larger-than-life dragon makes the perfect photo op.
Don’t forget to grab Toothless and Light Fury cookies and other treats, plus a Toothless popcorn bucket at a "How to Train Your Dragon" themed food cart nearby.
"Fast & Furious"-Themed Coaster Sneak Peek
The countdown is on for Fast & Furious: Hollywood Drift, coming in 2026! This high-speed, outdoor coaster is Universal Studios Hollywood's first-ever, high-speed outdoor coaster and is themed after the "Fast & Furious" franchise. The "state-of-the-art" ride system will feature a 360-degree rotation of individual ride vehicles and sound-reduction technology that will create a sensation of drifting cars. And special for the Mega Movie Summer event, check out Dominic Toretto’s 1970 Dodge Charger-inspired ride vehicle on display in Universal Plaza.
