Frequently Asked Questions About Genie Plus at Disney World: A Basic Overview and How to Purchase

What is Disney Genie?

Genie Plus at Disney World is a new FREE planning tool available in the My Disney Experience app. You can use this new technology to guide you through the theme parks with tips to help you reduce time in lines, discover Disney magic and take the guesswork out of planning your day. You can learn more about all that's included in the Disney Genie service in our full post here.

What is Genie+?

Disney Genie+ is a paid skip-the-line benefit that allows guests to enter through a special line (think of the former FastPass+ lines) rather than the standby line. Not all Disney attractions are available with Genie+, which we'll get into below — but a majority of popular Disney attractions are included with Genie+. This add-on is toadally optional. All rides continue to operate with either a standby queue or a virtual queue at no additional charge.

Disney Genie+ single and multi-park price options

How much is Genie Plus at Disney World?

As of June 27, 2023, Disney Genie+ prices now vary by date and by park. Guests can choose either a multiple-park option (eligible with park hoppers) or choose a single-park option. Each of the four theme parks will offer a different price point. Since Genie+ can only be purchased on the day of, guests should double-check the My Disney Experience app for the current price.

Tadpoles under 3 years old (who do not require an admission ticket) do not need to purchase Genie+ to go with their party.

When can I purchase Genie Plus at Disney World?

You can purchase Disney Genie+ day by day on each day of your trip using the My Disney Experience app. Genie+ is available for purchase when the clock strikes midnight on the day of your visit, but you don't need to stay up late (instead, make sure to purchase about 15 minutes early to secure it before the 7 a.m. selection process). All guests can make their first Genie+ selection at 7 a.m. As of June 8, 2022, all guests will need to purchase Disney Genie+ service this way, daily, dependent on availability. During busy times, Genie+ can sell out by park (and the multi-park option becomes unavailable once a single park sells out).

Can I purchase Genie+ without a park reservation?

Yes! As of Jan. 9, 2024, date-based tickets no longer require a park reservation, so you'll be able to purchase Genie+ without a park reservation.

How does Disney Genie+ work?

You can make your selections across all of the theme parks if you have a Park Hopper ticket and purchase the Multiple-Park option with Genie+ (look near the bottom of the "My Day" tab where it says, "Plan for Your Next Park" to let Genie know your park hopping plans). These reservations can be made within the My Disney Experience app. One big change for people who have used FastPass is that you can only book a particular ride once per day.

Which Disney World attractions are included with Genie+?

What is not included with Genie Plus at Disney World?

A few in-demand rides (and rides that utilize a virtual queue) are excluded from Disney Genie+. Instead, these rides will be available for an additional price per ride, such as TRON Lightcycle Run, Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind and Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance. These a la carte options can be purchased same-day, in-park. You can use a pay-per-ride for a particular attraction once per day and pay to upgrade for up to two different rides per day (regardless of where you are staying).

What is Lightning Lane?

Disney Genie FAQ - Lightning Lane Entrance

Lightning Lane is the name of the queue you will enter at each attraction. The FastPass entrances have been renamed Lightning Lanes (ka-chow!).

Do you have to purchase Genie+ to buy individual Lightning Lane selections?

No, you do not need to have Genie+ to purchase individual Lightning Lane selections. (You can opt for one or the other, or purchase both skip-the-line options.)

Which attractions are included as individual Lightning Lane selections?

Disney Genie - Individual Lightning Lane Selections

Can Genie+ rides "sell out"?

Genie+ rides are not guaranteed. The most popular rides can run out of available Genie+ Lightning Lane selections. We usually see this later in the day for most attractions. However, the most popular ones can run out within minutes during busier periods. Don't give up hope on them, though! You might see more availability pop up later, possibly due to cancellations. Act quickly on those if you see them.

Likewise, Disney Genie+ service is subject to availability, which means single and multi-park options could potentially sell out for the day.

If I am park hopping, but only want to buy Genie+ for one park, can I?

Yes! You will have the option in My Disney Experience to purchase the multi-park or an individual park option.

What if I choose Genie+ service for a single park and later want to park hop with Genie+?

Stop by Guest Relations to see if upgrades are available for the day!

How much are individual Lightning Lane selections?

Pricing and availability may vary by date, attraction and park. These tend to range between $7 and $25 on any given day, however. You can see the price before you pay.

Can individual Lightning Lane selections sell out?

Yes. Once all the available add-on ride slots are filled, the individual Lightning Lane box will say, "Not currently offered."

Do offerings ever change?

Yes! Originally Expedition Everest, Space Mountain, Frozen Ever After, Mickey & Minnie's Runaway Railway and Remy's Ratatouille Adventure were individual Lightning Lane selections but are now included in Genie+.

As of March 20, 2023, attraction photo downloads are now included with Disney Genie+. If you purchase Genie+, you'll be able to download any ride photos from that day at no additional cost. This includes popular attractions such as Seven Dwarfs Mine Train, Space Mountain, Test Track and more! Check out our guide to Disney World ride photos for more details.

Genie+ and Individual Lightning Lane Selection Process FAQs

How do you select a time window for a Genie+ attraction?

Genie Service Guide - Tip Board

For Genie+ attractions, navigate to your "Tip Board" where you can only book the next available time window, which could be as soon as five minutes later or hours away. You cannot make them in advance for times that are later in the day. Click on "Book Experience." The next page will confirm the arrival window (note: due to demand, this can change), show if you have any overlapping plans and you can adjust your party, if needed, before you officially book it.

Can you edit your Genie+ reservation?

Yes! Guests can now easily modify a Genie+ reservation instead of having to cancel and rebook. You may change the selected attraction to a different attraction within the same theme park or the time window (as well as the party members). Thanks to this game-changing update, you can have more flexibility with your Genie+ plans without having to sacrifice the two-hour waiting period to make your next one! We recommend refreshing so that if you see a better time pop up, you can adjust it and not have to risk losing that reservation.

How soon can you make another Genie+ attraction selection if you can only get one at a time?

You can make another Genie+ selection when one of the following happens (whichever comes first):

  • You tap in for your last booked Genie+ reservation.
  • The window for your last booked Genie+ reservation passes.
  • It's 120 minutes after the park opened (if you made your first res at 7 a.m.).
  • It's been 120 minutes after making a reservation during normal park hours.

Can you book more than one experience?

You can only make one Genie+ selection at a time, but you can hold overlapping Genie+ selections because there is a two-hour window before you're able to select another one. You can also purchase an individual Lightning Lane selection that overlaps with a Genie+ selection.

It is possible to join a virtual queue (when in use) AND purchase an Individual Lightning Lane selection for the same ride, thus granting you the ability to ride twice in a day.

But what if my Genie+ return time window is more than two hours away?

As we mentioned before, you can only select the next available time. So, if it's a particularly busy day, you might find that, when you're looking at noon, the next available time for a popular ride could be 7 p.m. Snag it anyway! Your ability to make Genie+ selections will be frozen for two hours, but starting at 2 p.m., you can make another Genie+ selection for another ride. If that ride is more than two hours away, then, at 4 p.m., you can make one more, and so on.

Speaking of individual Lightning Lane selections, is that process different?

Disney Genie and Genie+ FAQs - Individual Lightning Lane Selection Process Screenshot

Yes! For individual Lightning Lane selections, you can select any of the available time windows that pop up, which range throughout the day. For best availability, select at 7 a.m. if you're a Disney World Resort hotel guest or a guest of select hotels in Orlando, or right at the park open, if not. It will show any overlapping plans and allow you to edit your party, if needed. You'll still want to make these as quickly as possible, as the time could potentially change or a ride could sell out while you make one.

How does Genie+ work if you're park hopping?

If wanting to use Genie+ in multiple parks in one day, be sure to purchase the multiple-park option. Let Genie know that you're park hopping by going to the "My Day" tab and selecting which park(s) you'll be hopping to and during which hours, so Genie can make recommendations based on your park hopping plans.

As of Jan. 9, 2024, all-day park hopping is back!

If you cancel a Genie+ reservation, did you use your only chance for that attraction?

No! Because you can only use Genie+ access once per attraction, you do need to modify it if you wish to change your arrival time. If you miss your window and do not successfully cancel or modify it, you will not be able to make another reservation for that attraction. We missed our arrival window for Buzz Lightyear's Space Ranger Spin. The reservation did not disappear right away, but when we checked 15 minutes later, it was gone. We attempted to make another but could not because we were ineligible since we "used" it already.

Can you be early or late to your Genie+ or individual Lightning Lane reservation?

The arrival windows are meant to be firm, so you must get there on time. (We were able to scan into the first touchpoint at Haunted Mansion five minutes early though.) If you're late, the cast members may not be able to let you through. If it's an instance that's out of your control (such as a different ride breaking down that caused you to be late), we suggest kindly explaining the situation, but it's up to the discretion of the cast members at the attraction entrance.

What if the attraction that you have a Genie+ or individual Lightning Lane selection for breaks down?

Don't worry! There are certain recovery efforts that the cast members will be able to implement, in case this happens. For instance, if you paid for an individual Lightning Lane selection that you haven't used yet but it breaks down and never reopens, a refund or gift card may be offered. If the ride breaks down after you've already scanned in and are waiting in line, then you may not be able to get a refund, but they could issue a Multiple Experiences Pass or a different return time window instead. Cast members will take care of you! Look for the blue Customer Experience umbrellas.

Is Genie+ available during Early Theme Park Entry, Extended Evening Hours or After Hours events?

No, Genie+ and the individual Lightning Lane selections are only available during normal park hours.

Can I book for multiple people?

Yes! You can reserve Genie+ or individual Lightning Lane selections for up to 12 people — you'll need to be connected in the "My Family and Friends" area of the My Disney Experience app.

Miscellaneous Disney Genie and Genie+ FAQs

Is Genie+ different at Disneyland and Disney World?

Yes! While both services vary in price depending on the day, Genie+ at Disney World typically starts at $15 per day, while Disneyland Genie+ starts at $25 per day. Genie+ at Disneyland includes PhotoPass unlimited PhotoPass downloads while just attraction photos are included with Genie+ at Disney World (plus some fun photo lenses!) At Disneyland, you can purchase Disneyland tickets with Genie+ included in advance, while Genie+ at Disney World can only be purchased same-day within the My Disney Experience app.

What else is included in Genie Plus at Disney World?

Aside from Lightning Lane access, Genie+ includes augmented reality photo lenses and audio experiences at both resorts.

Do Disney Resort Hotel guests get any perks related to Genie+?

Remember those individual, a la carte Lightning Lane options we talked about? Disney World Resort hotel guests are able to make those reservations as early as 7 a.m. on the day of their visit (versus the general public who cannot reserve until park opening). That's a huge advantage for hotel guests, as popular rides such as TRON may run out of reservation windows. All guests, regardless of where they stay, are limited to a maximum of two pay-per-ride attractions per day and can only book a particular ride once per day.

What about Annual Passholders?

Annual Passholders will need to purchase Genie+ on the day(s) of their visit.

Can we purchase tickets pre-loaded with Genie Plus at Disney World?

Disney World tickets no longer come with the option to include Genie+, and instead, you will need to purchase Genie+ the morning of, each day of your trip (subject to availability). If you purchased tickets with the Genie+ add-on before June 8, 2022, they remain valid and you do not need to purchase again.

When I was visiting in March, I tried the whole "reserve another ride 120 minutes after booking" thing, and it would not let me. I don't know if they've stopped allowing that, or it was operator error, but no matter how long I waited, it would only let me get a new one when I scanned into the currently booked ride.

Can we use the same account via app on two different phones to book one Genie+ ride and one Lightning Lane ride at 7:00am for our party of 4?

So basically I handle the Genie plus and spouse handles the LL? Or would the app crash? And we have another Disney account with the same party added to that account and try to conquer ? :)

We don't have an a la carte option at this time, unfortunately. Genie+ can still be added on daily via the My Disney Experience app, OR you may have some luck at Guest Relations in the park if you're visiting before June 8.

Hi Lori!

If you've linked your tickets in My Disney Experience, head to the section that shows your ticket; in the top right-hand corner, look for a pencil, which means you're eligible to modify (or upgrade!). You can also call Guest Relations before June 8 to get the benefit added. Alternatively, you can add Genie daily within the My Disney Experience app during your trip. Hope this helps!

This might be an odd question, but here goes.

My wife and children will be at the park, while I unfortunately will not be able to be with them.

Is it possible for me to log into my wife's account and make the bookings for her?

She keeps hearing about how much screen time is involved in bookings etc, and wants to be able to focus on just enjoying her time with the kids.

Hope that makes sense.

Planning on going to Hollywood Studios. My flight gets in late morning and I want to use Genie plus to ride Slinky Dog Dash sometime after 1pm. I know you can't reserve certain time windows, and I've read this ride fills up fast. What is my best way to ensure I get a time slot for afternoon or later? Thanks!

Reply
May 3, 2022 at 8:19 a.m. FrogBlog Says...

Hi Amanda!

We'd still recommend jumping on at 7 a.m. to make a Genie+ reservation for Slinky Dog. During our most recent trip to Hollywood Studios using Genie+, we made our Slinky Dog reservation right at 7 a.m. and still got one for 6:05-7:05 p.m. When we hit the button to make the reservation, we were shooting for the "next available" window, which was 4 p.m. right at that second, but the time can automatically change, which is what hoppened to us! In order to get a later time slot, we'd probably wait just a few seconds once the clock strikes 7 a.m., refresh, then go for it.

Can I please clarify, if I purchase the

4-Day Disney Theme Park Base Ticket with Water Park and Sports Option, I can enter each of the 4 Disney parks on 4 different days within the 8 day date range, can we also attend the 2 Disney water parks on 2 other days within that 8 day date range? I confused as to whether the add ons can be on a seperate day to the main parks

Reply
Apr 18, 2022 at 4:46 p.m. FrogBlog Says...

Hi Aurelia!

Yes, a "plus visit" can be its own separate day — though you can toadally use one theme park visit and one "plus visit" on the same day, if you wish to (for instance, start at EPCOT in the morning, go to a water park in the afternoon and return to EPCOT in the evening). You can also use multiple "plus visits" in one day, as long as the ticket has enough "plus visits," in which case, a 4-Day Ticket would! This means you could hop between water parks in a day (granted that both are open when you visit — Blizzard Beach is still currently closed). Hope that clears things up!

I have 3 adults and 2 children in my party. I created an account and purchased tickets in the Disney app. Should the other adults in my party create their own account and then would they be able to connect to the tickets I have already purchased, or should they both just sign into the app on their phone as me? Does it matter?

Hi Gloria!

The other adults can toadally create their own accounts! Once they do, be sure to all connect on each other's Family & Friends List. Then you would be able to assign the tickets that you bought to each of them. (Though it could also work if they sign into yours — it's just probably more convenient if they had their own.)

Hi Mike!

Have you already linked your park tickets? If not, any guest 13 and older can make their own My Disney Experience (MDE) account and link their own ticket. Then, everyone should be linked in each other's "My Family & Friends List" and they'd be able to manage their own plans.

If you have already linked all the tickets to one account, then go to your MDE account in the app and navigate to the main menu (the icon in the bottom right corner with three lines). Click on "Tickets and Passes" and check if you can hit the "Reassign Ticket" button on each ticket that you'd need to transfer to the teenagers' accounts. We hope this helps, but if it doesn't work, let us know if you have any more questions!

We are going to Disney in July 2022 and have purchased Genie plus for everyday of our stay and we are staying at the Swan hotel. My question is that at 7am I will be making our first genie plus selection but at the same time can I also make a paid individual lightening lane attraction. So essentially what I'm asking is that can I make two reservations at the same time, one genie plus and one separately paid for individual lightening lane. I would like to reserve slinky dog at 7am and at the same time pay for a ticket on rise of the resistence but I am worried that once I reserve slinky I won't be able to immediately pay for rise. Thanks so much

Hi Jo!

Yes! As a guest at the Swan Hotel, you would be able to reserve both your first Genie+ selection and your individual Lightning Lane selections. We would suggest that you try getting Rise of the Resistance first. However, if you aren't successful with getting one for Rise (or even Slinky Dog), check back around 7:20 a.m. We've personally experienced that Disney drops more reservation times for both Genie+ rides and individual LL selections around then!

Hi. would you know how I can purchase Genie+ for my son's 5 day ticket to Disneyland. My husband and I got 3 day tickets and saw the option of adding Genie+ when purchasing online, so we did. For my son's 5 day ticket, it did not give an option to add Genie+. He's going 2 days ahead of us.

How can we add Genie + to his ticket? and will he need to use my Disney account to manage Genie+ selections while he's at the park without me?

Hi Maria!

Your son can either log into your account or use his own account if there is a credit card on it. He can purchase Genie+ each day after entering the park. Since you can't make any selections until you enter the park, it will just be an extra step before he can make selections each day. When he arrives, he could try going to the ticket booth to see if they can add Genie+ for all five days, but the simplest way is purchasing it day-by-day after scanning into the park.

We purchased our tickets through Undercover Tourist and they DO NOT include Genie+. However, when we go into the app to change the tickets and potentially add it on for our stay, it says we already have it and won't allow for us to add it? If we do so via the website, we don't have this message and can add them. Others in our group who bought tickets directly from Disney not having this issue.

We don't really want to add it for the full trip, only on a day by day basis, but we are concerned come the morning of when we attempt to add Genie+ for the day from the app, we will have an issue since the app seems to think we already have it. Help!!

So if a group of 12 go but from different families, am I right in saying that once a child is linked to an account they cannot be moved to another one? When you go to purchase Genie+ and/or an individual Lightning Lane selection, all of your linked Friends and Family will appear, but you may deselect/edit the group before you purchase. Since you are in a larger group, keep in mind that for those who purchase Genie+ and/or individual Lightning Lane selections, the reservations can only select 12 people at a time, so you would potentially need to split up into at least two groups (say, if you all wanted to go on one big group ride). Then the two (or more) groups can try to get reservations within the same return window (or overlapping return windows) so that everyone can ride at the same time.

Hi, I've got one question about the 2 hour rule.

Here's the example: If I make a LL reservation at 7:00am for Jungle Cruise and the return time is 12:30, I understand that I have to wait 2 hours after park opening to make another LL reservation. So if the park opens at 9:00am, then I have to wait until 11:00am. BUT, if I'm staying at a Disney resort, then the park is open at 8:30 for Disney resort guests. Does that mean I can make my next LL reservation at 10:30am? Thanks

I have 2 kids 4 & 8 that have different interests, if one is not with me when riding something I booked in genie + like a LL can my sister with a different account scan for them (assuming we are linked using the family and friends)?

We also have adults that don’t want to have to pull their phone out all the time so are anti app. I am thinking all adults that will be riding with kids alone need the app to scan in themselves and kid or could we get those adults that don’t want the app and kids magic bands.

Hi Alice!

If all of the adults are linked together in Family & Friends, then one person should be able to make reservations easily for the adults in the group, and they can certainly wear MagicBands to make it easier on them and avoid using the app! When it comes to managing kids in My Disney Experience, kids under 13 years old won't have their own accounts but instead, you can make a profile for each of them. However, the person who creates a child’s profile will manage the profile and all the plans for that child. The child’s profile cannot be transferred to another person to manage. Hope this helps!

Hi there,

I understand that the 7AM you can book the first Genie+, and the next one is at 11AM, 1PM, 3PM ... assuming that your return times are not in the early afternoon otherwise it will be faster. But do you have to be in the park to make those reservations? Say you return to hotel for a break from 1PM to 6PM, can you still make reservations at 1, 3, 5 ?

Reply
Mar 11, 2022 at 9:51 a.m. FrogBlog Says...

Hi JFB!

theoretically, no — you would not have to be in the park to make Genie+ reservations (we've previously been able to make a Genie+ reservation while we were in our first park for our second park on a day that we were park hopping). That said, the 120-minute rule begins two hours after park opening (so if a park opens at 8 a.m., then the next time would be 10 a.m.) so those exact hours may vary. And it may depend on what times you can get your Genie+ reservations since they're based on the next available time, as well.

Hi there! My family of four is headed to Disneyland this August and we'll be using Genie Plus for the first time. Genie Plus is already included on all of our tickets for all of the days. My dad and I love the thrill rides and rollercoasters, but my mom and brother not so much. Is there a way my dad could buy Lightning Lanes for all four of us then somehow transfer my mom and brother's passes to my dad and I? If not, is it allowed for us to just take their phones through and use their passes so we can go on rides twice?

My Wife and I are going to Disney World in April, we will be in the parks for a total of 3 days (Tue, Wed, Thu).

I want to purchase Genie + and add it for these days (I already have a existing reservation) but what happens if we decide to chance one of the days to give us a down day?

Lets say I have Genie + for Tue, Wed, Thu, but I decide to switch my days to Mon, Tue, Thu after I have added genie + ?

Thank you

Hi Kerim!

We think it should be toadally fine to switch dates. If you have a date-based ticket, you'll need to start on your selected date (unless you can change that date), but you can use your other days anytime during its valid usage period. And since you make Genie+ selections on the day of, it's unlike FastPass+ (reservations were made in advance and would lose them if dates were switched).

Hi Peter!

If you'll be at Disney World for the entire two weeks, then you should have plenty of time to explore the parks and Genie+ may not be necessary for the entire trip since you'll have that much time. That said, you may want to use Genie+ on some days (particularly if it's a busy time and toward the end of the trip, you still have a lot that you want to get done).

I know that we'll be spending a lot of time on smartphones particularly because of Genie+. I also know that Disney offers free WiFi. I'm not a fan of using free unprotected WiFi and am wondering if I'd be able to connect my own Wireless Portable Router in order to make a Private WiFi connection while visiting the different theme parks. It's a TP-Link AC750 (TL-WR902AC) Router. Any insight you could provide will be appreciated.

Hi! I'am a bit confused. Only guests of Disney Hotels are able to start using Genie+ & LL at 7am and the rest of the guest until the park opens? Or everybody can do so from 7am?

In the case we should wait for the park opening to start.... do we need to be physically in the park or can we do it remotely?

I'm having issues on deciding which park to book... RoTR is a must for us, but we don't want to risk our park hopping experience in case we get a late afternoon space using LL, we are thinking on starting in any other park and then switching to Hollywood.

Hi Lorena!

All guests can make their first Genie+ selection at 7 a.m. However, for the individual Lightning Lane selections, guests of Disney Resort hotels can make their reservations at 7 a.m., while others need to wait until the park opens. You do not have to be inside the park to make an individual Lightning Lane selection when the park opens.

As for deciding on which park to book, your hopping plan sounds good! You are able to select your choice of the available individual Lightning Lane times, so just aim for a time after 2 p.m. (because if you get one that is earlier but have a different park reservation, you wouldn't be able to enter Hollywood Studios until 2 p.m.).

We will be at Disney next week and have a question regarding Disney Genie Plus. We did pay the extra $15.00 a day for the plus for the three of us. From my understanding we can only pick one thing at a time and once in line for a selected ride. We can then pick another one. And then the two-hour rule where if I book a ride and the earliest, I can get is 4 hours from now. I must wait two hours before we can book another ride using Genie Plus.

So what would happen if I book something for the three of us (wife, daughter, and myself) using my phone. Could my wife book something on her phone with the two-hours? Wasn’t sure if that was a way to perhaps get around the two-hour rule. Hope that makes sense. Just wanting to make the most of our trip to Disney.

As far as Start Wars Rise of the Resistance. Is it suggested that we just pay the $15 per person for the Lightening Lane if we want to ride that? Just seems like that one gets booked rather quickly.

Hi Ed!

You are toadally correct with how the process works! Genie would detect if you already have a Genie+ reservation since you'd all be linked, so it wouldn't matter who books the reservation from their account. If the parks are busy, then we would definitely recommend getting an individual Lightning Lane selection for Rise of the Resistance if it's a main priority.

My son is going to Disney World with a school group. They will be split into groups of 5, but of course everyone has their own ticket. Can they just link their tickets in the app so that they can book the same ride times? And if they link with one another, does that then mean they will also all be linked to the same credit card on an account? Because I don’t want a bunch of 15-year-olds charging their purchases to my card! I’m hoping that when they link their accounts they still are each only associated with the card on their individual accounts.

Reply
Feb 22, 2022 at 3:03 p.m. FrogBlog Says...

Hi Ginger!

As long as everyone links each other's accounts in My Family and Friends, they can book the same ride times. Genie+ will automatically select anyone who's linked and has purchased Genie+ for each ride reservation, so they should easily be able to make reservations as a whole party. Each person can purchase Genie+ and individual Lightning Lane selections separately on their own accounts. Contact and payment info cannot be shared to people on your Family and Friends list. The only caveat that may come up is, if it's a particularly busy day and they want to purchase a popular individual Lightning Lane selection (such as Rise of the Resistance), it may be easier to designate one person to purchase for all of them so that everyone is included on the same reservation without risking that someone isn't able to purchase one separately since those reservations can run out quickly. In that case, the person who makes it would be charged for the group.

I added all the kids to my account when I made our park reservations. The kids range in age from 2-11, so not everyone may be interested in doing the same rides. Hi Andrea!

For managing children's profiles in My Disney Experience, the person who created the profile will be the only one who can make and manage plans for them. They cannot be transferred to another person to manage. But when making Genie+ reservations, you can edit the party to add/remove people, so you would be able to make separate reservations if the group splits up. Just make sure that the adults are connected to your account through My Family & Friends! (Also, your littlest tadpole will not need Genie+ since they're under 3 years old and won't have a ticket for admission — they can just stay with the group.)

You would still need to wait 120 minutes after your 11 a.m. ride — by making the new reservation going on the 11 a.m. ride, it opened a new 120-minute waiting period and going on previous rides won't change that.

As quickly as rides get reserved, we’re planning for 2 adults to go after a Genie+ ride and the other 2 adults will try purchasing an ILL. Example: 2 try for Jungle Cruise and the other 2 adults try for Seven Dwarfs Mine Train. Every adult has their own Disney account. All 6 guests are connected to each with Family & Friends Sharing. Finally the question: Should we all be logged into one person’s account or each logged into their own respective account for scheduling and purchasing the rides?

We would suggest different accounts — if you're all together in person, then as soon as someone gets to the final screen, they can call it out and the other person trying to grab the same one can stop. Though if you're all linked, the system should recognize the reservations that are created, and the second person shouldn't be able to make the reservation if the first person gets it successfully.

Hi Kathy!

If you're park hopping, you will not be charged twice. When you set up your day, you can tell Genie your park hopping plans, and Genie+ does recognize those windows. For instance, while we were at Magic Kingdom, we planned to park hop to Animal Kingdom later in the afternoon, but we tried making a Genie+ reservation for Na'vi River Journey at noon (before park hopping hours, so it was showing 12:20 as the next available time) and Genie+ automatically made the reservation for 2 p.m. (once park hopping hours started). You cannot enter your second park of the day until 2 p.m., but if you want to be there right at 2 p.m., then we'd suggest leaving around 1:30/1:45 p.m. (depending on which park you're at & which one you're going to and considering your mode of transportation). Otherwise, you can hop anytime after 2 p.m.!

You will be able to make your first Disney Genie+ reservation at 7 a.m. (this applies to everyone, regardless of where they're staying). As for the individual Lightning Lane rides, since you are not staying on property, you can make your individual Lightning Lane selections when the respective park officially opens (times may vary depending on which park you're going to), while those staying at Disney Resort hotels, Walt Disney World Swan and Dolphin Hotels and Shades of Green would be able to purchase at 7 a.m. each day.

If you're visiting Disneyland, then all guests need to wait until they're inside the park to book Genie+ and individual Lightning Lane selections.

Hi Leap, I think it would help clarify the section about the rides that aren’t included in Genie+ if it mentioned that there are some rides that don’t have a lighting lane, and also don’t have the option to purchase the Individual Lighting Lane pass. Astro Orbiter for example, only has a standby line. It’s not a particularly in demand ride, and it doesn’t use a virtual queue. This ride also isn’t available for Individual Lighting Lane purchase. Since it’s one of the rides not included in Genie+, I think there should be some additional details under that section of this post that identifies that some attractions only have a standby line, and I think it should list what they are so the reader can get a better overview of cost vs. worth as they read which attractions just aren’t included at all.

Just communicate between the two of you so you know what the other person is booking! (And side note, if you want to remove someone from a selection, be 100 percent sure that's what you want to do because it would be difficult to get them back on the same reservation.)
