What We Know About Monsters, Inc. Land at Disney's Hollywood Studios
During the Horizons: Disney Experiences Showcase at D23, Disney made the exciting announcement about an up-and-coming "Monsters, Inc."-themed land. Disney Experiences Chairman Josh D'Amaro, joined by Disney Legend (and voice of Mike Wazowski) Billy Crystal revealed the plans.
The new area will bring the world of "Monsters, Inc." to life, allowing guests to walk the streets alongside their favorite monsters. The land will pick up after the original film's events, inviting humans into the monster world for the first time.
As for the main attraction, you're going to want to hold on tight! Disney's first-ever suspended coaster will take guests on a thrilling ride through the iconic vault door. Hey, they scare because they care. ;) Josh D'Amaro expressed his excitement for the project, saying he has dreamed of riding through the door vault since the movie's release in 2001. Monsters Inc Land will also host an all-new theater show.
Currently, there is no set opening date. However, construction is scheduled to begin sometime next year. More recently, Disney announced that Muppet Vision 3D will close to make way for the monsters at a future date. But don't worry — the Muppets will be moving to Sunset Boulevard to headline Rock 'n' Roller Coaster! Hop over to our refurbishments post to stay on top of all of the construction news.
We're not screaming, you're screaming! What other experiences, attractions or restaurants would you like to see added to the "Monsters, Inc."-themed land? Let us know in the comments below. We're crossing our frog fingers for a real-life Harryhausen's sushi restaurant, complete with "Scream Rolls."
