Overview of Roundup Rodeo BBQ
Roundup Rodeo BBQ is a western-themed restaurant at Walt Disney World with lots of references to the beloved "Toy Story" films. You're shrunken down to the size of a toy as you're surrounded by the colorful displays Andy has come up with.
Roundup Rodeo opened in March 2023 within Toy Story Land at Hollywood Studios. The restaurant can be found just after the entrance on the right-hand side. The restaurant is table-service so advance dining reservations are highly recommended. Check out Tad's rad video for all the wild details, and keep on reading for our full review!
Fun fact: Roundup Rodeo is the first "Toy Story" table-service restaurant in the world!
Roundup Rodeo BBQ Theming
Just like the rest of the immersive land, you're the size of a toy at Roundup Rodeo. Andy has created a new rodeo play area inspired by Woody's Roundup. You even get to ride in on a stick horse if you would like to make a wild entrance! There's a fun mix of space, western and train station playsets. See large displays of Woody, Jessie, Trixie, Bo Peep and more.
As with so many Disney projects, the attention to detail is incredible. We were sitting by a giant ruler, which apparently is to scale with all of the displays. How neat! The restaurant is covered from floor to ceiling in hidden gems. Speaking of, there are 14 hidden Mickeys throughout if you are up for the challenge (we've only found one so far, thanks Tad!). Periodically, you'll hear fun announcements from other toys with some interactive elements (be careful, Andy's coming!).
While there are character displays, note that this is not a character dining location. If you're interested in meeting the famous toys, there are outdoor character meet-and-greets throughout the day with Buzz, Woody and Jessie.
Roundup Rodeo BBQ Menu
Beverages include fountain drinks (Coke, Diet Coke, Coke Zero, Sprite, Fanta Orange, Root Beer, Minute Maid Zero Sugar Lemonade, Powerade Mountain Blast), freshly brewed iced tea, milk and water.
For an additional cost, enjoy a variety of specialty drinks such as Partysaurus Tex (lemonade with a hint of strawberry topped with gummy worms) and Frozen Cowpoke Cocoa (basically a chocolate milkshake. Yum!). Grown-up frogs can enjoy beer, wine and specialty alcoholic drinks such as the Snake Eye Margarita (definitely had a kick to it!).
Included starters:
- The Prospector’s Homemade Cheddar Biscuits with sweet pepper jelly
- Rootin’ Tootin Tomato Salad — Cucumbers, pickled red onion, white balsamic vinaigrette (Plant-based)
- Wheezy’s Watermelon Salad — Fresh-torn mint (Plant-based)
The salads were refreshing, and each of the starters is included so you can sample them all.
For us, the real highlight was the cheddar biscuits! We definitely asked for seconds, though lots more food was headed our way! (Since it's an all-you-care-to-enjoy meal, you can ask for extras of whichever you like).
Choose one main entree:
- Enjoy a Platter of House-Smoked Items — Evil Dr. Smoked Ribs, Buttercup's Beef Brisket, There’s a Sausage in my Boot – Fire-grilled Pork Sausage, BBQ Chicken – with Style! and Buckin' Baked Beans
- Trixie's Plant-based Trio — Combat Carloflower with harissa drizzle and walnut gremolata, Scrumptious Bratwurst, Rip Roarin’ Rib Chop and Buckin' Baked Beans
- Available upon request: Cedar Plank Saloon Salmon
We got the meat platter and our favorites were the beef brisket and pork sausage.
Reach for the Sides:
- Potato Barrels (Plant-based)
- Slinky Doooooooooog's Mac & Cheese
- Cowpoke Corn on the Cob (Grilled street corn)
- The Claw! Veggie Slaw (Plant-based)
- Buckin' Baked Beans (Plant-based)
We first went for the Slinky Doooooooooog Mac n Cheese (I just love saying that name, plus there's goldfish crumbled on top) and corn on the cob (with some nice seasoning).
Later on, somehow Leap was up for trying a little more (I had too many cheddar biscuits, clearly) as he was also able to try the baked beans and veggie slaw.
For those with picky eaters, typically the food listed is the only food available, so keep that in mind when booking. Cast members can definitely work with you, such as if perhaps a kiddo only wants more mac 'n' cheese (we've all been there). Like many restaurants, there are allergy-friendly options as well.
Choose one dessert per person:
- Cupcake a la Forky (Gooey Chocolate Cake, Graham Cracker, Buttercream, Sugar Cookie)
- Bo's Lemon and Blueberry Cheesecake
- Goat's Apple Pie
- Billy's Chocolate Silk Pie
- Gruff's Peach-Strawberry Pie (Plant-based)
Each person will choose their own individual dessert, and then you may be able to request additional options as well. We liked that there were a variety of flavors to choose from for the mini pies. Our favorite dessert though has to be the adorable Forky cupcake!
Our Final Thoughts on Roundup Rodeo BBQ
We loved all the theming and fun moments for the kids and kids at heart, such as riding a stick horse (located near the check-in counter inside). There is a plentiful amount of food and a fun atmosphere, though some may want to splurge on a character dining location instead.
We highly recommend it for "Toy Story" fans, barbecue fans or those wanting vibrant theming (Tad and Lily loved it!). We think Roundup Rodeo BBQ is a great addition to Toy Story Land, providing a much-needed indoor dining location. It joins the many themed restaurants that Hollywood Studios has to offer.
