Cool Off With a Free Water Park Day at Disney World — Available to Hotel Guests in Summer 2026 and 2027

Inside This Post

First introduced in 2025, Walt Disney World Resort hotel guests are treated to a complimentary visit to either Disney's Typhoon Lagoon or Disney's Blizzard Beach on the first day of their arrival. I've got all the fun and exciting details about this newer benefit so you can make the most of your free water park day (and of course, the rest of your magical vacation) at Disney World. Let's do as the frogs do and hop to it. Ribbit, ribbit!

FAQs

  • What is the free water park day at Disney? Walt Disney World hotel guests can choose to visit either Blizzard Beach or Typhoon Lagoon on their arrival day in summer 2026 and 2027. For 2026, arrival dates are May 26 to Sept. 8; 2027 dates will be announced at a later date.
  • How do I redeem my complimentary ticket? Your water park ticket should automatically populate in your My Disney Experience account (make sure your hotel reservation is also linked to your account).
  • Can I bring a guest? This benefit is only available to registered guests listed on your hotel reservation. If you need to add a guest, you can modify your reservation online or by calling Disney (change fees may apply).
  • Can I transfer the ticket to a different day? Unfortunately, no — it is only available on your arrival day.
  • What if the water parks are closed? Water parks are subject to seasonal refurbishments or weather closures. At least one water park remains open year-round. For summer 2026, both Blizzard Beach and Typhoon Lagoon are now open!

What Is the Free Water Park Day Disney Perk?

Guests of Disney Resort Collection hotels (which applies to all hotels on property from Disney’s All-Star Movies Resort to Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort) will receive a complimentary ticket to visit one of the water parks on the first day of arrival to Walt Disney World. This pass is only valid on the day of your resort check-in. For summer 2026, valid arrival dates are from May 26 through Sept. 8. Dates for 2027 summer arrivals will be announced at a later time.

Who gets the benefit?

Each guest must be registered at the hotel for the night. Review your hotel reservation to make sure all your guests are linked. If you need to add a new overnight guest to your reservation, you can modify online by logging into your MyDisney account (look for "Modify Reservation" under "My Reservations") or by calling Disney directly at (407) 939-5277. As a final option, you can visit the Front Desk on check-in day, where a cast member can check eligibility. Note that change fees may apply, and if you're modifying a package, everyone must have the same tickets and dining plan, if applicable).

Starting in 2027, the Campsites at Fort Wilderness Resort will no longer be eligible for this benefit.

Save on your Disney vacation by booking your hotel stay (or vacation package) through Undercover Tourist! We now offer a flexible deposit option for all Walt Disney World hotels and vacation packages — you just pay $200 down to lock in your rate and pay the remaining balance 30 days prior to check-in. When booking through your favorite frogs, you still receive all the same on-site benefits, including this free water park day.

The water parks at Disney World rotate through seasonal maintenance, so typically only one park is open at a time. Both water parks are open and operating in summer 2026. Yahoo!

How to Redeem the Free Water Park Day Benefit

So, how do you get your free day? Just like magic, your ticket will populate automatically in your My Disney Experience account. Upon arrival at the water park, you'll use your MagicBand/MagicBand+, Disney MagicMobile pass (which can be used via your phone or smart watch) or your physical Key to the World card. Tap any of those options at the entrance touchpoint, and you're good to go!

If you don't need to store luggage, you can go directly to the water park, even if you haven't checked into your hotel yet.

Getting to the Disney Water Parks

With the addition of this new perk, you may want to consider an earlier arrival time (versus getting to Disney World in the evening) and confirm the water parks' operating hours. In the summer, they tend to close around 7 or 8 p.m. Hotel check-ins are usually at 3 p.m. and 4 p.m. for Deluxe Villa resorts. However, with My Disney Experience, you can skip the front desk and check in online. Easy, peazy!

“But what about luggage?” you ask — and great question! After arriving at your resort, go to Bell Services. You can let them know you're going to the water park, and they will take care of your bags. They'll even deliver your luggage directly to your room, so they’re waiting for you when you get back. That Disney magic, am I right?

free water park day disney - Buses

If you are using bus transportation, please note that there is usually no direct service to and from Blizzard Beach, except for guests staying at Disney's All-Star Resorts and Disney’s Coronado Springs Resort. All other hotel guests will need to take a bus to Animal Kingdom and then transfer to the bus for Blizzard Beach.

Alternatively, guests at all Disney World hotels will need to take a bus to Disney Springs, then transfer to get to Typhoon Lagoon. We mention this so you can schedule your day accordingly, especially if you have dining reservations later that night. In total, expect it to take about an hour to get to and from the water parks to your hotel, including bus wait times and the distance from the parks to your resort.

During Cool Kids' Summer (May 26 to Sept. 8, 2026), Disney Resort hotel guests have easy bus transportation to the water parks, but the route depends on where you're staying.

  • For Typhoon Lagoon, guests staying at Disney's Port Orleans Resort – Riverside and Port Orleans Resort – French Quarter have direct bus service to Typhoon Lagoon. All other resort guests will travel via Disney Springs and then transfer to a Typhoon Lagoon bus.
  • For Blizzard Beach, guests staying at Disney's Art of Animation, Caribbean Beach, Pop Century, Coronado Springs and All-Star Resorts will have direct bus service. All other resorts will transfer through Disney’s Animal Kingdom before continuing on to Blizzard Beach.

Bus service generally begins about 30 minutes before the water parks open and continues until about an hour after they close.

For guests who are using their own or a rented vehicle (we can save you some green on that, too), parking is free at both Typhoon Lagoon and Blizzard Beach.

Tips for Going to the Water Parks on the First Day of Your Disney Trip

While this new perk is exciting, it's also still new for many Disney guests. If you've never visited Walt Disney World or are unfamiliar with the weather (depending on the time of year you visit) or what to expect when you get there, knowing how to plan for the day is critical. Here are some of my top tips:

Check the Weather Forecast Ahead of Time

Florida is known for both heavy rainstorms and sunshine. Depending on the severity of the weather or if thunderstorms are in the area, the water parks will close to prevent injury. Oftentimes, these closures — whether temporary or for the entire day — aren't always reflected on the park calendar, so you may not know it's closed until you arrive at your resort.

By checking the weather forecast ahead of time, you can better manage expectations (and possibly, disappointment).

Pack a Small Bag and Use the Lockers

Large suitcases aren't allowed on Disney buses. However, you can bring a small backpack with a change of clothes and other water-park necessities, such as bathing suits, flip-flops and sunscreen.

Both Typhoon Lagoon and Blizzard Beach offer complimentary towels, life jackets, showers and changing rooms. Once you're ready to hit the waves, rent a locker for safekeeping. Depending on size, these lockers cost between $10 and $15.

Say Hello to Your Favorite Disney Characters

As part of Cool Kids' Summer running from May 26 to Sept. 8, 2026, guests can meet Goofy in his beach outfit at Blizzard Beach or see Stitch causing playful mischief at Typhoon Lagoon!

About Disney's Typhoon Lagoon and Blizzard Beach

Typhoon Lagoon opened in 1989, with Blizzard Beach opening a few years later in 1995. Both water parks offer a world of excitement, including rides, delicious treats and, for Mommy and Daddy frogs, ample relaxation after a busy day of travel!

Typhoon Lagoon is themed to a tropical paradise that, following a storm, turned into a wondrous oasis. It features 11 water-themed attractions, including Mayday Falls, Castaway Creek, Humunga Kowabunga and the Typhoon Lagoon Surf Pool.

Blizzard Beach, on the other hand, is a 66-acre water park that once operated as a ski resort. But since that's melted, it's now a splish-splashing water park!

Blizzard Beach is also home to a ton of attractions, including the Downhill Double Dipper, Slush Gusher, Toboggan Racers and the famous Summit Plummet — a thrilling, 360-foot-long water slide that plunges down 12 whole stories! The water park also features a chairlift, offering spectacular views of the park and the surrounding area.

The free water park ticket is a great new benefit for guests staying at a Disney resort hotel. My advice is to plan ahead, prepare for possible closures and take advantage of this perk while you can. While the water parks are popular, they tend to get overlooked, as many guests want to visit Magic Kingdom or Hollywood Studios right away. However, this is the first day of your trip — relax, catch some sun and bask in the reality that you're now in Walt Disney World and a whole week of magical moments awaits!

Have you visited Typhoon Lagoon or Blizzard Beach? Have you taken advantage of this perk yet? Let us know in the comments. We'd love to hear from you!

Hi Boymom!

The free water park day benefit is only available on the check-in day of your hotel reservation during the timeframe it's available (now through Sept. 8, 2026, and summer 2027 - exact dates TBD). That said, if you're doing a split stay between two different Disney resorts, you would get one water park visit for each check-in day. Keep in mind that your booking windows for dining reservations and Lightning Lanes will be different since there are two separate reservations, so if you're wanting to book them for your entire trip in one go, we would not recommend a split stay.

Hoppy planning!
