Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique at Disney World

Overview of Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique at Disney World

Bibbidi, bobbidi, boo! With these three magical words, the Fairy Godmother transformed Cinderella from a ragged maid into a beautiful princess, complete with a carriage. As if a trip to Disney World isn't filled with enough pixie dust, your prince or princess can receive the same royal treatment as Cinderella at Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique.

Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique offers a magical makeover experience in an equally magical setting. It's an experience your tadpoles will treasure. It's also one you'll save for the scrapbooks — Lily still talks about her Bibbidi Bobbidi makeover all the time!

Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique at Magic Kingdom

Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique has three locations at Walt Disney World Resort — one next to Cinderella Castle at Magic Kingdom, one at Disney Springs and one at Disney's Grand Floridian Hotel & Spa.

* At the time of publication, only the Magic Kingdom location has returned. For any location, however, you'll need to make a reservation ahead of time. The original location is, of course, next door to Cinderella Castle. As you might imagine, this location books up pretty quickly, so be sure to hop to it if your prince or princess wants to head to the castle!

You can also find a Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique at both Disneyland and on each of the Disney cruise ships!

Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique Reservations

Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique at Disney World — Magic Kingdom location

We highly recommend making reservations for this experience. It's really popular! The reservation policy for Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique is the same as for advance dining reservations. Guests staying at a non-Disney Resort hotel can make reservations up to 60 days in advance. Those staying at a Disney Resort hotel can make a reservation for any day of their stay (up to 10 days) starting 60 days from their arrival.

This means resort guests have an advanced opportunity to reserve a time over non-resort guests. For example, on May 1, the furthest date out that a non-resort guest could start making a reservation is June 30 (60 days from May. 1). However, for example, a resort guest arriving on Aug. 30 could make their reservation for a later date such as Sept. 5. For resort guests, you may want to plan a Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique appointment near the end of your trip (when you can reserve 60+ days in advance) instead of when you first arrive.

Reservations are now available for booking. You'll need to include a credit card while booking, but the card will not be charged until your visit. If visiting the Magic Kingdom location, you'll need to make sure you have valid park admission and a park reservation (if you're an annual passholder). You won't need to choose the specific package until your actual appointment, so you'll just be booking the reservation for now.

Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique Packages and Pricing

Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique at Disney World — Carriage package take-home accessories

At the Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique, tadpoles from ages three to 12 can have their very own Fairy Godmother Apprentice give them a royal makeover. There are various packages to choose from, and they are available to any gender, so your child can decide if they want to be a princess or a knight. You'll want to plan for up to 90 minutes for this magical transformation. The following prices and packages are subject to change.

  • The Fairy Tale Package (starting at $119.99+ tax) includes hairstyling, shimmering makeup, princess sash and cinch bag, nail polish and Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique T-shirt (pictured above).
  • The Kingdom Package (starting at $229.99 + tax) includes hairstyling, shimmering makeup, princess necklace, sash and cinch bag, nail polish, a Disney Princess gown of their choosing, Disney Princess crown and wand (not including shoes).
  • The Adventure Package (starting at $59.99 plus tax) includes hairstyling with gel, a sword and shield and a knight shirt.

You'll let the cast members know which package you want when you are brought into your appointment. While waiting in the lobby, you are provided a binder so you can look at all the package options. You can also find this information online. You'll go from the lobby to the shop, where assorted princess dresses and accessories are available for purchase.

PhotoPass photographers make the rounds and take photos of the experience. However, please note that the experience does not include images. You'll receive a PhotoPass card with all of your child's transformation photos. Once you can link to your account, you'll see the watermarked photos. You can either decide to purchase individual photos or buy through Memory Maker, which allows unlimited digital downloads for your entire trip.

The Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique Experience

Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique at Magic Kingdom — Shop with dresses and accessories

At Magic Kingdom, you'll find the Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique behind Cinderella Castle just before Prince Charming Regal Carrousel. After checking in, a Fairy Godmother Apprentice will lead you from the lobby to the shop. You'll let them know which package you want and if you will be purchasing any dresses, prince or knight costumes or accessories. Certain dresses will be included in the price depending on the package.

You can find most of the pieces throughout Walt Disney World. However, some are exclusive to the shop, such as higher-end tiaras. You can also bring your own princess dress, like we did with Lily.

Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique at Magic Kingdom — Fairy godmother magic mirror

Once ready, you'll head to the fitting room where the Apprentice will go over the different hairstyles, such as a bun with a tiara or a royal braid adorned with accessories. You'll then get a special message from the Fairy Godmother! But that's just the start — sometime during your visit, you'll also receive an in-person visit from the Fairy Godmother! (She doesn't have a set schedule, but we've seen her roaming the salon and then meeting at Sir Mickey's for boutique guests to take photos with her.) Your child will then adorn their royal attire and head back out to the shop. You'll then pay for the package and your Fairy Godmother's Apprentice will walk you over to the boutique in the castle.

The Royal Treatment at the Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique at Disney World

Don't worry if it is raining a little, like it was for us; they have umbrellas ready for the few seconds you are outside.

The boutique itself has lots of royal touches and definitely feels like you're in the castle. There are a lot of stations for this popular experience, so it will be a bit tight navigating around. However, once you're at your chair, there is a good amount of space. Each child is allowed two guests. There are also cushioned benches so you can sit right in front of the royal star.

Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique at Magic Kingdom — Hairstyling

Now, the makeover begins! The apprentice began by geling the hair to fit into our selected high bun. Even with Lily's shoulder-length hair, she still managed to get it into the iconic princess bun! We chose the tiara. There is even a hidden Mickey gem placed on the back of the hair! The hairstyling takes up most of the time, and then we moved on to nails. Other hairstyles include a Royal Braid with accessories, a Fantasy curly hairpiece and flower halo, or a Pixie Magic ponytail accessory and flower halo.

The apprentice then applies a sparkly gold nail polish that she got from our favorite fairy, Tinker Bell!

Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique at Magic Kingdom - Lipstick and eyeshadow palette

Lily was able to then choose which eyeshadow color she wanted (any combination of two colors). She also chose which lip color and then a face gem. We liked that the child has the freedom to choose whatever they prefer. Finally, the official BBB sash is placed to make it all official.

With that, it's time for the big reveal! The whole transformation is done with the prince or princess facing away from the mirror, so there is a great moment when the Apprentice turns the chair around and lets them see the final look. Bibbidi Bobbidi Boo, indeed! Before heading out, you'll get your branded bag of goodies, including the nail polish, lipstick and eyeshadow palette you used, so you can enjoy magical transformations at home, as well. You'll also get a PhotoPass card with all the photos taken during the transformation (though you will need to either purchase them or utilize Memory Maker to download them).

Lily absolutely loves the experience — it's one of her favorite activities at Disney World! She loved telling the characters she met later that day that she had been to the Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique in Cinderella Castle. We did not wash her hair that night, so she still had the princess look the following day. Froggy note: Bring a shower cap to help maintain the hairdo.

The Royal Treatment at the Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique at Disney WorldAfter returning home and telling others about her visit, she would mention having her hair done and makeup applied in Cinderella Castle. She also mentions it when she sees Cinderella Castle during the opening of Disney movies.

Meeting Princesses at Magic Kingdom

The Royal Treatment at the Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique at Disney World

After your royal makeover, you'll definitely want to go see your favorite princesses! A great benefit of the Magic Kingdom location is you're right by Princess Fairytale Hall, where you can meet Cinderella, Tiana and visiting princesses — usually, Elena and Rapunzel. Lily was beyond excited to meet Cinderella in her matching outfit!

Other princesses you can meet throughout the park include Ariel at Ariel's Grotto, Belle during Enchanted Tales with Belle, Jasmine in Adventureland (who also meets with Aladdin) and Snow White near Town Square Theater. Be sure to check the My Disney Experience app for set times. Hop over to our royal guide to princesses at Disney World for more information!

Most of these locations have a PhotoPass photographer available. However, you can also take photos on your phone to capture all the magical memories, too.

Why Choose the Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique at Disney's Grand Floridian Resort & Spa?

As you can probably guess, the most significant benefit of choosing Disney's Grand Floridian Resort & Spa is if you're staying there! No need to hop on the bus or monorail to get to your appointment (though this location has not reopened yet). However, it's also a cheaper alternative to paying for the experience in Magic Kingdom, since you don't have to pay for a park ticket.

Though the experiences offered are generally the same as those at Magic Kingdom, it is smaller due to being housed inside the actual resort. So you're trading the "castle" experience for one that's a bit more intimate. Makeovers here are usually around 30 minutes.

Why Choose the Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique at Disney Springs?

While the location in Cinderella’s Castle is the most popular, another option is the Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique location in Disney Springs (this location has also not reopened yet). All of the styling choices, prices and experiences are generally the same, and it has several advantages. This location typically has a little more availability when it comes to reservations.

There are pros and cons to both locations. What could be more magical than a princess makeover in a real-life castle?! However, as with all experiences, note that this does cut into your park time. If you're already planning a Disney Springs day, it's an easy stop. We've found that Lily's hair lasts at least two days, so if your princess has multiple dress-up days planned, she can put that sash back on and really extend the magic.

Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique at Disney World - Disney Springs Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique

Some other factors to consider are:

  • Since it is at Disney Springs, you do not need an admission ticket. If you have a planned day that does not include visiting the parks, a Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique makeover can be a good choice because you do not lose park touring time while the makeover takes place.
  • It is in a newer location in the Marketplace, allowing for more seats and space in the salon area. However, it is still not overly roomy for siblings who are not having a makeover.
  • Perhaps the biggest advantage is that, in our experience, it is MUCH easier to obtain a reservation. Years ago, we had Lily's appointment on the day after Thanksgiving, which is one of the busiest days of the year. We arrived about an hour early just to check in and were surprised that she could start her princess transformation immediately. In the salon, there were several open seats so someone could have easily obtained a walk-in appointment.
  • After your tadpole's makeover, you can visit the PhotoPass Service Studio located nearby in Disney Springs for a photo session. Memory Maker adds photos directly to your account. There are tons of fun backgrounds to choose from, and you can even make your own fairytale storybook!

The Royal Treatment at the Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique at Disney WorldBibbidi Bobbidi Boutique Tips

1. Try to Get a Morning Appointment

Early appointments let your child enjoy dressing up all day! This works out great if you have a meal at Cinderella's Royal Table or a meeting with Cinderella at Princess Fairytale Hall later. Plus, you can take pictures of your child with characters who may have limited visiting times. An earlier appointment really maximizes the royal look. However, with how popular the experience is, it's toadally OK if you can only grab an afternoon booking.

2. Save on Princess Dresses

You can save on an official Disney version of a princess dress by checking eBay for either used dresses or new dresses that are being sold for less than the retail price of about $70 plus tax. The used dresses can be of great value because they typically have only been worn once or twice and are in great shape. I purchased a new Cinderella dress with several accessories for $45 and a group of four used dresses for only $80. Another option to save on a dress is to watch the Disney Store website for sales. I started watching a year in advance before our last visit and purchased several dresses for at least 25 percent off. There are also great third-party options available online from various shops, so there are plenty of options for your young royal.

If your tadpole is near 12 years old or tall for their age, the dress selection is more limited. Many dresses are only available up to a size 14. However, some select styles are available up to a 16/18P.

3. Visit the Disney PhotoPass Studio

Once the transformation is complete, visit the Disney PhotoPass Studio afterward for a royal photoshoot. At Magic Kingdom, the studio is located at Sir Mickey's gift shop right across from BBB. Anyone can visit this photo studio! The studio has a set backdrop and some accessories, as well. At Disney Springs, the boutique location is very close to the Disney PhotoPass Studio, which has lots more options with virtual backdrops and more. You can purchase individual photos or use Memory Maker or an annual pass with a photo add-on to download.

4. Be Ready for Your Own Photo-Ops

While you'll receive a ton of beautiful photos of your knight or princess, don't froget to be ready to take your own pics during the process. And think about other places that may make for special impromptu photo-ops, as well! Some of our favorite spots are Cinderella Fountain and the Wishing Well, but Leap also caught a gorgeous shot of Lily on Dumbo with a bright smile and her princess sash waving in the wind.

5. Bring an Extra Pair of Shoes

Bringing princess shoes to match their outfit? Don't forget to bring a more comfortable backup pair. Lily would wear her fancy shoes when meeting a character and then change to her other shoes after the encounter.

6. Consider Splitting Up

There is limited seating in the boutique for people waiting and watching the royal makeovers. Typically, only two guests can accompany the child. If your child has siblings, it would be good if they could leave and do something else while the makeover is being done. Tad quickly became bored and did not want to sit in the boutique when he could be riding Space Mountain, so Leap took him while I waited and watched Lily's makeover.

7. There Are Options for All Genders

Not feeling the princess vibe? That's okay! Bibbidi Bobbidi offers an Adventure Package that includes hairstyling with gel, a sword and a shield.

8. Remember That Cancellations Require Advanced Notice

Guests need to cancel more than 24 hours in advance. If not, you will be charged a $10 cancellation fee. If you know your plans are changing in advance, add canceling your appointment to the top of your to-do list.

9. Children Must Be Free From Scalp and Skin Conditions

Because of the makeup and hairstyling gel used, children must not have any scalp or skin conditions. Be mindful of this ahead of time.

10. Bring a Poncho

If you're planning on riding Tiana's Bayou Adventure following your appointment, be sure to bring a poncho, so your knight or princess's hairstyle doesn't get wet.

Hi JJ!

Yes! There should be shoes for sale, though we tend to recommend that you bring your own because 1) it's more cost-effective, 2) your child can break in their shoes beforehand and 3) can't always guarantee that the right shoe size will be in stock when you visit.

The higher end packages state they include a Necklace or keepsake portrait session with finished prints, including a photo taken near Cinderella’s carriage, do you know if all packages have the option of adding the portrait session?

Hi Belinda!

As far as we are aware of, there aren't photo sessions directly included with any of the Bibbidi Bobbidi packages. There are PhotoPass photographers who take photos during the experience and you can stop by Sir Mickey's photo studio after the transformation, but you would need to have Memory Maker to download those photos. You could also opt to do a Capture Your Moment photo shoot session.

Hi! In your opinion, is it better to book this during early theme park entry, or should I try to book this afterwards? We are staying on property, and although getting an early morning appointment is the goal, I don't know if I should book something during early entry since we have that advantage to use on attractions.

Hi Amy!

We would double-check hours for your specific visit date but sometimes, Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique opens an hour before the park officially opens. If you're able to get one at the exact time that it opens (for instance, 8 a.m. when the park opens at 9 a.m.), then it may be worth sacrificing Early Entry (as the appointment could take up to an hour). But if they don't have a reservation until 8:30 a.m. when Early Entry starts, then we'd recommend taking advantage of going on rides with low wait times during Early Entry but scheduling a Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique reservation in the morning shortly after the park officially opens.

My 8-year-old "knight" has hair down to his waist. Do you happen to know what styling options they have for long-haired boys? The knight packages list "hairstyle with gel" but gel doesn't really make sense for long, straight hair.

Hi Liz!

The typical hairstyling for a Knight Package includes slicked-back hair with gel and "dragon scales" confetti. We're not toadally sure about options for longer hair or exactly what they'd be able to do, but we think the Fairy Godmother Apprentice could certainly modify or perhaps even accommodate any special requests.

Thank you so much for this post. I did have a question that I'm hoping you can give me some more clarity on. You stated there is an age limit up to 12 years old, but you stated that she was fine because you booked it when she was 12. Was she 12 when you visited? I'm only asking because i plan on booking our Disney trip and making all appointments when she is 12, but she will actually be 13 when we go. Will they still allow her to do it? I hate to think that she's going to miss out of something she's excited about. I did see the "Disney’s Character Couture Makeovers for Adults" you linked, but she really wants the full Cinderella experience and now i'm a little worried she will miss out.

Hi Ashley!

When you make a reservation for Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique through My Disney Experience, you’ll need to add a princess (or prince!) to the reservation, which includes their age; over the phone, you’ll be asked their age. We wouldn’t think the slight age difference would make a difference in her getting to receive the Cinderella experience, but wanted to open it up to others in the Frog Pond who may have experience with this. Be sure to let us know how it goes!

Hi Sandy!

The Magic Kingdom location and the Disney Springs location both have a room with a carriage in it for photo ops. However, the Disney Springs location also includes a visit to the PhotoPass studio, where princesses can have their photos taken against different digital backdrops and with a few different props. The PhotoPass studio is close by, and it took about fifteen minutes in total for us to get about 30-40 professional photos. We thought it was worth it!

Hi Leslie!

Unfortunately these are subject to availability, and not all princess dresses will be available in all sizes. One way to guarantee a dress is to purchase it yourself through the Disney Store and bring it along with you (we've done this a few times - your princess is able to change in a dressing room beforehand).

Yes, please completely rewrite this post to take out the word daughter when referring to your female child so that you don't offend that one kid that Pam knows, who definitely isn't even reading your blog. Seriously though, thank you for this post. It really gave me good tips for how to get the most for my money. This is really expensive but I also want my daughter to feel like she is getting the total package and I want to get my money's worth! I really appreciate in the comments that someone pointed out Disney Springs has better photo options.

Chantel - you said what we all thought...Thank you, you are amazing! Pam...Please do not take away from my daughter's experience because a little boy was offended. He is a boy and my daughter is a girl. I do not care what they like or dislike but the fact remains that my daughter is a she and a boy is a he. If he loves sparkles and butterflies, so be it, I would love him either way, but my daughter is a she and a boy is a he. Lets not belittle one to satisfy another, Thank you

My little one has a short bob, a little longer than chin length. I'm trying to decide if it would still be a worthwhile experience even though she has short hair. Do you have any experience with short hair going through the boutique?

Hi Ashley!

The Fairy Godmothers in Training have all kinds of accessories, including clips, bows, etc. that your tadpole would still be able to take advantage of (plus glitter ... lots of glitter!). Part of the experience is also makeup and nail polish (even for the basic package), so while she may not get an elaborate up-do, she'll still get plenty of pixie dust.

You mentioned purchasing a dress in advance and spoke briefly about sizing. The dress sizes available in the boutique only go up to 10 or 13, am I correct? My daughter is going to be 10 (celebrating her birthday in WDW in March 2020) and is already over 5' tall and usually needs a size 16 or 18. Will the boutiques not have sizes appropriate for her?

Hi Reagan,

At the boutique, the dress sizes range from 4T to Child 12/14. However, it's very common that many girls bring their own dresses from home or only get their hair and make-up done.

hi

I would like to book The Courtyard Package for my daughter when we come in Feb next year, can you explain a bit more about how it works.

do you have to buy the tutu and t-shirt on top of the price or is it included, do you get them in the shop beforehand or do they hand them out inside?

how many choices of princesses can you pick from with this package?

will the tutu and t-shirts be colour coordinated for the princess you choose?

I see you said about the one at Disney Springs has a special room to have pictures taken after, do they not have this in the castle one too?

and if we choose to go with the one is Disney Springs where do you get the outfit from and do they take the pictures while having it done as well as after?

FrogBlog Says...

Hi Jo!

These are great questions - how fun for your princess! If you book the Courtyard package, the tutu and t-shirt are included in the price. You'll get them from the Boutique itself at your appointment, and we believe the colors are all standard (not themed to the individual princess). If you were to get a package including a costume, those choices may include Anna, Elsa, Ariel, Snow White, Aurora, Belle, Jasmine, Cinderella, Tinker Bell, Tiana, Rapunzel or Merida. If you opt for the castle location, you can hop over to Castle Couture for photos; if at Disney Springs, you can hop over to the PhotoPass location there for a photo session. Both photo sessions are included if you have Memory Maker, or can be added on at an additional cost. For more information, the reservation line at (407) 939-7895 is extra hopful (and can also get your appointment on the books!).

Hi Sue!

Transportation via bus to Disney Springs begins about 45 minutes before it opens (it opens at 10 a.m., so bus transportation from a resort will start around 9:15 a.m.) Bus transportation to Disney Springs directly from the parks does start later in the day. Water taxis begin their service around 10:30 a.m. (though this can vary due to water and weather conditions).

This was a terrible disappointment for my daughter and myself. You pay for the experience of being treated special, but a hair dresser at Great clips talks to an adult better than the fairy godmother did to my daughter. She pulled my girl’s hair while while styling, and there was no smile, maybe she was having a bad day. While waiting inside the boutique, as I was taking pics of my daughter in her outfit, several godmothers just strolled by and photo bombed, with no excuse me’s, which I thought was rude in a normal place, and especially in a place like this. I must say some of the other fairy godmothers were treating the kids special, my daughter wasn’t lucky!!

Hi Theresa!

Here's an older example of the Knight package. The large majority of guests are princesses, but we've certainly seen some knights coming and going. If it's something your son will enjoy, we recommend it! There's also pirate makeovers available, and of course, a wide variety of costumes available in the shops.

Hi Amy!

You sure will! Guests are allowed onto Main Street U.S.A starting an hour before park opening (though there will be ropes draped across the entrances to all of the lands). Find a Cast Member near the castle that has a tablet or notepad, and they can confirm your reservation so you can head back.

Hi Katherine!

Our little princess wanted to wear her dress the WHOLE time, so she wore it to the appointment. This also gave us less to carry! We'd recommend one of the following packages if you already have your dress:

The Crown package ($64.95 + tax) includes hairstyling, makeup with a face gem, nail polish, princess sash and cinch bag.

The Courtyard package ($109.95 + tax) adds a Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique T-shirt and tutu.
