Our Disney Tickets Are 100% RFID and FastPass+ Enabled

by Leap on January 2, 2015 377

Editor’s Note: We frogs loving nothing more than helping you all have the very best theme park vacation, so we're very excited to introduce our brand-new, downloadable Guide to FastPass+. We've written extensively on this topic, and we've taken all of that advice and boiled it down into one easy-to-read, take-it-with-you-anywhere format. The Frog Family Guide to FastPass+ covers all of the basics, including instructions for making reservations, FastPass+ priorities by park, kiosk locations and our very best tips!

================> Get the guide now! <================

All of our Disney World tickets are FastPass+ enabled.

This means you can link your tickets via the My Disney Experience app and website, which allows you to pre-book reservations to attractions and entertainment. Whether you are a resort guest or a park guest, you are allowed to advance book three FastPass+ attraction or entertainment selections per day from any one park.

Guests staying at a Walt Disney World Resort hotel can make FastPass+ reservations up to 60 days in advance of check-in for their entire length of stay, while guests staying offsite can make reservations up to 30 days in advance of each day of their theme park visitWe recommend that you buy your Disney tickets far enough in advance that you can book your FastPass+ selections 60 or 30 days out. For those of you who are close to your FastPass+ booking window, once your order has been processed, you can contact our customer service to obtain your ticket number to link your tickets in My Disney Experience.

Disney World RFID tickets

RFID Tickets & Obtaining MagicBands

MagicBands offer the same touch-to-enter functionality as Disney World RFID-enabled tickets in the parks, but added convenience, since you wear the band vs. having to pull it out of a pocket, wallet or backpack. MagicBands are provided to guests staying at a Disney World resort free of charge, and serve as room key and check-in for Disney's Magical Express transportation service to and from the airport. They are either shipped directly ahead of your trip or provided to you at check-in (they are not shipped to all countries).

MagicBands are also available for purchase in the parks, at Downtown Disney and online. Guests have the option of purchasing MagicBands and linking them to a My Disney Experience profile later, which allows them to be purchased as gifts or for future trips. Disney World RFID-enabled tickets offer the same touch-to-enter functionality at MagicBands.

All Undercover Tourist tickets offer the same functionality as a ticket purchased directly from Disney.

You'll find more resources on FastPass+ and Disney World RFID tickets, including answers to common questions, on our Disney FastPass+ Planning page inside the Orlando Planning Timeline. As always, our shipping is free! So let's get that vacation started with Disney World FastPass+ enabled tickets!

We purchased our family tickets through undercover tourist. How do I link goes to fast pass and our magic bands?

Jun 12, 2019 at 2:24 p.m. FrogBlog Says...

Hi Bush!

Your MagicBand and tickets are all linked through the My Disney Experience App. Here's how to link your Undercover Tourist ticket:

On the My Disney Experience website: After your log in, select My Reservations and Tickets from the MDE dropdown menu. Select Link Tickets under Tickets and Passes and enter your reservation number listed on the E-ticket PDF found in your Undercover Tourist account or your E-Tickets are Ready email. A list of your E-tickets will be displayed, and you can then assign the ticket/tickets to yourself, someone in your friends & family list, or a new guest.

From the My Disney Experience app: You can scan the bar code on your E-ticket PDF found in your Undercover Tourist account or your E-Tickets are Ready email. From the app, select My Reservations and follow the instructions listed under Link a Ticket or Pass.

Your MagicBands will automatically be sent to you if you are saying at a Disney World Resort, and will come activated through My Disney Experience. If you are looking to purchase a MagicBand, you can manually link a MagicBand in the "My Magic Bands or Cards" section of My Disney Experience. The app will then walk you through the process.

If you run into any issues linking your tickets, feel free to give us a call at 1 (800) 846-1302, and we'll be hoppy to help!

Hi Karli!

When you order tickets from Undercover Tourist, you'll opt to receive either an RFID enabled, physical ticket via mail, or an e-ticket via email. If you're staying at a Disney Resort Hotel in Orlando, Disney will send you a MagicBand directly. If you aren't, and you'd like a MagicBand, you can purchase one directly from Disney.

Hello,

I just purchased DisneyWorld tickets to be mail out to me. Do I get paper tickets and is there anything else I need to do before entering the park? And, if I am able to link the tickets to My Disney Experience, does it mean I will have no problem getting into the park?

TIA

Hi Shirley!

You'll receive physical tickets that you can redeem directly at the turnstiles! It IS also possible to link the tickets to My Disney Experience. Here's how:

On the My Disney Experience website: After your log in, select My Reservations and Tickets from the MDE dropdown menu. Select Link Tickets under Tickets and Passes and enter the 12 digit code printed on the bottom lefthand corner of the RFID ticket. (You will need to scratch off the last 4 digits of the code before entering.) A list of your linked tickets will then display, and you can then assign the ticket/tickets to yourself, someone in your friends & family list, or a new guest.

From the My Disney Experience app: You can scan the QR code on the lefthand side of the RFID ticket. From the app, select My Reservations and follow the instructions listed under Link a Ticket or Pass.

Should you run into any issues, our Customer Service representatives will be happy to help! You can reach them at 1 (800) 846-1302.

A couple of years ago my family and i went to disney, stayed on site & used the magic bands. We're going again this year and though i plan on using the Magic Bands once again... not 100% confident i can find them all. I know i can purchase another band on site but also curious on how the RFID cards are obtained... i plan on purchasing our tickets through undercover tourist but from there, how in the heck do i get an RFID card if we choose to go that route?

Hi Joy!

Great question -- no need to go digging for old Magic Bands! If you are staying at a Disney World Resort, you will be shipped a new MagicBand free of charge. MagicBands are also available in the park and online for purchase if you are not staying at a Disney World Resort. When you purchase your park tickets through Undercover Tourist, you'll be shipped an RFID-enabled ticket that you can either use independently, or attach to a MagicBand using the My Disney Experience app.

We bought and received UT tickets. I haven't linked them yet. Our ticket start date is March 31st, however we do not check in to our Disney resort until the end of our stay on April 6th. I know we will be receiving bands from Disney for our stay, but I'm curious what will happen when I link the tickets in MDE. Will it screw up our bands and tickets? Will I still be able to book Fast Passes early and use the magic bands as park tickets before our check in? Any help is appreciated!

Thank You

Hi there!

Your ticket start date has no bearing on making FastPass+ reservations.

Your reservation window will open 60 days in advance of check-in to the your Disney hotel stay, and you will have to link your tickets in MDE to make your reservations. You will be able to use your MagicBands your entire visit!

Hi Stacie!

Unfortunately, there is a catch in Disney's system that doesn't allow more than 10 tickets to be linked in the app. You'll have to reach out to customer service ... we recommend using the chat feature on Disney's site. The representatives will be able to help you quickly and easily, all online!

Hi Stacey!

Oh no! Are you within your booking window for FastPass+ selections yet? 60 days in advance for on-site resort guests and 30 days otherwise ... the app may not register your tickets as "valid" until you hit that date!

If you're already within your booking window, it sounds like this might just be a little glitch in MyDisneyExperience. Try calling customer service at (407) 939-4357.

I purchased park e-tickets through UT and have hotel reservations booked through Disney directly. I added my park tickets to my My Disney Experience account, but I just want to confirm that there isn't an extra step in order to have the park tickets also linked to my MagicBands, which I'm getting from Disney for staying on resort property. If I've already linked the park tickets to my reservation, are they automatically added to my MagicBands or need I link them specifically to the bands as well? I cannot find a way to do that.

Thanks.

What are our options? If Undercover tourist emails or posts our tickets could we just use the paper tickets for our day in advance of our resort stay then get our Magicbands on checkin which we can use for the reminder of our park days? Is that the best option?

Or if you link the tickets to the magic band does the ticket no longer work?

First of all, it's not too late to have a great trip. You can purchase tickets (two days and up) without a set date. FastPass+ is included with all tickets. What I would suggest is that you purchase tickets now and make your FastPass+ selections for the days you think you are going. You can always modify.

If you can, arrive ahead of park opening and follow either our touring plans or general maps, which are more flexible and tell you the best time to visit each attraction.

My family & i are planning our FIRST trip to Disney, we are staying off site and would like to know the process of purchasing tickets through you. We are looking at the 3-Day Park Hopper + Water Park Fun & More - plus extra day. We plan to purchase the tickets the first week of June. Our trip is June 26th. Is that a good time frame of purchasing the tickets? Would you recommend having them mailed or e-ticket?

Hi there,

We would recommend you purchase these tickets now, so you can make FastPass+ reservations as soon as possible. If you are staying off-site, you can book ride reservations up to 30 days in advance. You could get them shipped or do E-Tickets, but if you have them shipped, I would suggest you do this today or tomorrow.

Hello

We are planning a trip for Sept 2016..we reserved our Disney hotel and bought 5 day tickets from you. My dilemma however is that we are planning on visiting DInsey 3 days before we check into the hotel (We live in Canada so we wont get our bands until we check in)

If I link my tickets to my account can I use my physical ticket for those 3 days and then it will automatically switch to the bands once we check in?

Thanks!

Hi Jordan,

Yes, you can. Tickets and MagicBands can always be used interchangeably, provided that they are active and linked.

Hi - I am NOT staying at a Disney park and I purchased Disney tickets though you and added them to the MDE app, I also purchased Magic bands through the Disney store and linked those too...does it automatically link them together or am I missing a step? I don't want to have any issues at the gate with my kids in tow....Thanks! Tracy

Tracy, did this in fact work for you? Last year we purchased tickets through here and "linked them to a Magic Band" we'd purchased from Disney Store online. Got to the park and the band would not work, cast members couldn't get it to work and we were essentially out of luck and had to use the card the whole trip. :(

Hi Tracy,

Yes, that is correct, it links them together.

My husband and I have purchased 4 day park hopper tickets for our trip in sept. The tickets are linked to our MDE and show up under tickets and passes. However when we go to look at fast passes it askes me to link my tickets.. When I put in my resort confimation number it says his tickets is already linked (bc as I said we have them linked to us already) are we unable to get past the prove you have tickets point in fast pass bc our 60 day window is not open yet??

Hi Megan,

This is a quirk in the My Disney Experience system. If your Disney hotel reservation is linked in MDE, you should be good to go at the 60-day mark. If your reservation is not showing up, please contact Disney directly.

Hi, I am planning to purchase an e-ticket from UT in the next few days for an upcoming trip and am unsure if I will be required to exchange it at Guest Services for an actual ticket. I am staying onsite therefore will be receive a Magic band but because I am Canadian I won't receive my band until I arrive at my resort. Can I link my ticket to my magic band prior to my arrival in MDE even though I won't actually receive my band until check in?

Hi Kelly,

You don't actually need to link your ticket to your MagicBand—that will happen automatically once you have linked a ticket and you get your band. As long as you are checking in before you head to the parks, you will be fine and won't need to exchange it.

Hi Sandra,

You need to link your hotel reservation number in My Disney Experience, and then you will be able to get MagicBands.

Hello! We purchased 5 day tickets from you, but we have an 8 day trip planned. We want to be able to make FP selections for our whole trip. I assume we will not be able to make 8 days worth of FP with 5 day tickets? If I link them to MDE, can I call Disney and pay for the upgrade over the phone?

Hi Beckie,

You are correct. You will only be able to make five days worth of FastPasses with your tickets. Please contact our customer service if you need help upgrading your ticket!

We have already purchased our tickets from you and linked them to our magic bands for our upcoming stay this January. However, someone in our family may not be able to come with us. How does this affect the ticket? Can it still be used at a later date?

Hi Therese,

The ticket could be used at a later date, but if it's already linked, either the same person would need to use it, or the ticket would need to be reassigned to someone else in My Disney Experience.

Hi, I purchased tickets from Undercover Tourist and made an on-site hotel reservation through the Disney website. After linking the tickets My Disney Experience still shows that I can only make FastPass+ reservations 30 days in advance. Is this correct? I thought I can make FastPass+ 60 days in advance if staying onsite? Thanks.

Hi Darren,

This is correct. Disney's site is not very good about explaining that you are all set and now ready for your countdown to your 60 days. Once your window opens, you shouldn't have any issues.

Just to confirm, you can link a MagicBand that you purchase at the Diseny store to any Disney ticket (regardless of where you bought it--meaning if you aren't buying your tickets from the Disney site can you still link the tickets and use the wristbands?) Thanks!

Sorry, if this posts twice. I may have already posted as a reply. But:

We have reservations, fast pass and several days left on older park hopping non expiring tickets. We are planning on only park hopping one day so we want to buy tickets here and use them to enter the park most days (5 out of 6). Can we not link the new tickets to our Disney account, enter the park using the tickets and then use our magic bands for the fast pass+.

Just trying to reserve our no expiring and park hopping tickets for the next few years.

Thanks!

Hi Tim,

You can use your MagicBands no matter what/for whatever tickets you have. As far as prioritizing one set of tickets over others, you need to do this at guest relations when you get to the parks. You can try calling, but we've had mixed luck on getting this done over the phone. It's not a problem.

Ah I think I can add my tickets already but just want to make sure.... lol.. Being sick has had me in a brain fog..... So I am not going again until Oct 2016 but wanted to buy tickets in case of a price hike.... I just received the card in the mail. I am okay to link them to my account now right? And not have to worry until the 60 days to pick my FP+ right? I understand then you cant refund and that is all fine. I just dont want to link them and it some how start counting off my days already ahah.

A question: I have older park hopping non-expiring tickets associated with my magic bands and my Disney account. These are flexible tickets that i would like to use selectively.

For an upcoming trip, I've got hotel reservations and fast pass selections. I'm thinking about buying tickets here, but don't want to link them to my magic bands. So, can I enter the park on the tickets and then still use my magic bands for fastpass+? Or do I have to enter the park on the ticket or magic band that has the fastpass reservation?

Thanks!

Hi Tim,

If you want to link both sets of tickets, you can have them prioritized at guest relations. My guess is you are trying to do this yourself by keeping them separate. So you could make FastPass+ reservations using your No Expire ticket and then actually enter the park with your new physical ticket, but once inside, I am not 100% certain you would be able to use your MagicBand with the FastPass+ reservations. Maybe someone reading has had the same experience and can share.

I have had a similar situation with No Expire tickets and then new sets of tickets, but haven't tried what you are proposing, because I've linked all my tickets and just had them prioritized at guest relations. Yes, it's another line you have to wait in, but a small price to pay so that you don't use the wrong ticket. Hopefully, Disney will at some point give us the ability to prioritize our own tickets.

Hi Lizzette,

Thanks for buying from us! All of our SeaWorld tickets are E-Tickets, but Universal tickets are physical, and we ship them to you for free. On Disney, you have the option of purchasing physical tickets (again, free shipping) or E-Tickets.

Hope this helps!

If we buy tickets and dont have time for mailing, will they be held for us at Will Call? Can we get the magic bands when we arrive too?

Nov 19, 2015 at 2:04 p.m. FrogBlog Says...

Hi Claudia,

If you choose E-Tickets they will be emailed to you. You would be able to link these tickets in My Disney Experience and use your MagicBands to enter the park. If you do not have MagicBands before you get to the park, you would need to exchange the E-ticket for physical tickets at will call outside the park or at Disney Springs.

You can purchase your MagicBands at many Disney World locations, including Disney Springs.
