Our Disney Tickets Are 100% RFID and FastPass+ Enabled

by Leap on January 2, 2015

Editor’s Note: We frogs loving nothing more than helping you all have the very best theme park vacation, so we're very excited to introduce our brand-new, downloadable Guide to FastPass+. We've written extensively on this topic, and we've taken all of that advice and boiled it down into one easy-to-read, take-it-with-you-anywhere format. The Frog Family Guide to FastPass+ covers all of the basics, including instructions for making reservations, FastPass+ priorities by park, kiosk locations and our very best tips!

================> Get the guide now! <================

All of our Disney World tickets are FastPass+ enabled.

This means you can link your tickets via the My Disney Experience app and website, which allows you to pre-book reservations to attractions and entertainment. Whether you are a resort guest or a park guest, you are allowed to advance book three FastPass+ attraction or entertainment selections per day from any one park.

Guests staying at a Walt Disney World Resort hotel can make FastPass+ reservations up to 60 days in advance of check-in for their entire length of stay, while guests staying offsite can make reservations up to 30 days in advance of each day of their theme park visitWe recommend that you buy your Disney tickets far enough in advance that you can book your FastPass+ selections 60 or 30 days out. For those of you who are close to your FastPass+ booking window, once your order has been processed, you can contact our customer service to obtain your ticket number to link your tickets in My Disney Experience.

Disney World RFID tickets

RFID Tickets & Obtaining MagicBands

MagicBands offer the same touch-to-enter functionality as Disney World RFID-enabled tickets in the parks, but added convenience, since you wear the band vs. having to pull it out of a pocket, wallet or backpack. MagicBands are provided to guests staying at a Disney World resort free of charge, and serve as room key and check-in for Disney's Magical Express transportation service to and from the airport. They are either shipped directly ahead of your trip or provided to you at check-in (they are not shipped to all countries).

MagicBands are also available for purchase in the parks, at Downtown Disney and online. Guests have the option of purchasing MagicBands and linking them to a My Disney Experience profile later, which allows them to be purchased as gifts or for future trips. Disney World RFID-enabled tickets offer the same touch-to-enter functionality at MagicBands.

All Undercover Tourist tickets offer the same functionality as a ticket purchased directly from Disney.

You'll find more resources on FastPass+, including answers to common questions in our Guide to MyMagic+ and FastPass+. As always, our shipping is free! So let's get that vacation started with Disney World FastPass+ enabled tickets!

Hoppy Planning!

We will be staying off site and not planning on getting the magic bands. If I have the tickets mailed from you, will they be ready to go to get into the park, or will I need to go to guest services or will call before? If they are ready to go, are they the plastic cards or paper tickets?

Thanks!

[3] 2-day universal orlando with one day free

Please advise if those are fine otherwise advise which tickets we should buy and how much advance in order to have our vacation memorable,

Please guide to have RFID, Fastpass+, Magic Band or any other App in order to reduce waiting.

Also plese let us know how we can have our tickets refund if we need during our stay period.

So, just trying to understand the FastPass benefit for off-property families. (I just learned these bands will cost our family about $50. I would rather spend that money elsewhere.) Ques 1. The UCT tickets we received in the mail, that appear like credit cards, are FP enabled, so conceivably, we don't need to buy these bands but can pull out the credit cards at the FP machines, correct? Ques 2, can we still pre-arrange the FP schedule online if we don't have the bands or do we have to wait until they are enabled first on day 1? Thanks so much!

Hi Nicole,

FastPass+ is free, you don't need a credit card, and yes, you can use the tickets you bought from us. They work exactly like MagicBands, which are optional. You can book your FastPass+ reservation up to 30 days in advance of your first day in the theme park. You just need to create an account in MyDisneyExperience and link your tickets. Please check out our brand-new Guide to FastPass+. I think you'll find all of the information you need.

Hi Raza,

The only thing I would need to know is when you plan to use your Disney water fun visits? With the ticket you have, you would get 3 days in the parks and then 3 additional fun visits to spend at the water parks or DisneyQuest. With this plan, you likely wouldn't be able to use all of your fun visits, but this ticket is likely still more economical if you plan to visit a water park than purchasing these tickets separately.

For FastPass+, we've put together a downloadable guide that you can check out. We have a terrific refund policy - you can check out the specifics here!

Hi, Three of my friends and I will be travelling to Orlando from South Africa for the first time. We want to visit 3 Disney theme parks and one Disney water park over four days. And thereafter visit Universal Parks. Is the Walt Disney World: Water Park Fun & More Tickets the tickets we need for Disney?

And I see you don't deliver to South Africa, if I opt to collect the tickets when we arrive, how will I be able to book the fastpass?

Kind regards

do I presume that all our fast pass selections are loaded on a card that we get from Will Call kiosk (using the confirmation letter that we have received since purchasing tickets online)?

Otherwise, how to we get our fast passes?

Will we be able to reserve fastpasses 60 days in advance for the whole 4 day ticket, or just be able to reserve for the one day part of the ticket when we're staying onsite? Thanks!

Even though I can't book any fastpasses yet (due to staying off-site), can I still link the cards to My Disney Experience now? And is it safe to do so - i.e. it won't "activate" the cards as such and start ticking down to expiry?

Thanks!

But, can I go ahead and get magic bands for all of us and link them all together? Or do we have to wait to link his at will call after he gets the actual RFID card?

Reply

Hi Carol,

You can go ahead and link MagicBands and accounts now. I would also go ahead and make FastPass+ reservations for everyone except your friend. Once he buys his ticket, then all you would need to do is link the ticket and then try to copy over your FastPass+ reservations to him. Use the app for this, as he can scan the ticket quickly. It's possible he won't get the exact same times, but MDE will attempt to get them close (usually with some overlap provided there is availability).

My question is-if my parents buy a 1 day magic kingdom ticket, could they then add my 4 park hopper passes to their magic bands? Can they choose which day they use the 1 day ticket and which days they use the park hoppers?

Hi Kelley,

Yes, you can add all of the tickets in My Disney Experience. In our experience, the first ticket added is the one that gets used first in the parks. But you can call Disney (or go to guest services at the parks) to determine the ticket order, and to reorder it if you would prefer.

Hi FrogBlog,

We live in Europe country that undercovertourist doesn't offer mail delivery. If for example i buy both WDW and Universal tickets much in advance (like more than half a year in advance) and we book a hotel in advance as well, can i arrange with undercovertourist the ticket delivery to the hotel, so we c, and woud get it on the receiption as soon as we arrive? OR Can both tickets be picked up at the parks' gates what about so much in advance purchase- will they keep them for more than half a year for us? Or may be international delivery still could be arranged with undercovertourist even for non indicated countries? We are going to use all of the transfers and not hire a car, so other local at parks' gate or hotel's receiption pick up point is going to be a problem for us....

Reply
FrogBlog Mar 5, 2015 at 12:01 p.m.

Hi MickeyMom,

You need to create a My Disney Experience account on the website or the app and then link your tickets to each member of your party. For older tickets, we have found it's easier to use the app, because you can actually scan the bar code rather than key it in. Once your tickets are added, you can walk through the process of making FastPass+ reservations. If you are staying on-site, your MagicBand will be mailed or provided to you upon check-in. If you staying off-site, you can purchase MagicBands online at the Disney Store or in park. Your tickets offer the same functionality as MagicBands, so it is up to you if you wish to purchase them.

We offer more resources on our Guide to FastPass+.

Hope this helps!

The Disney trip I have planned with my family is in 3 weeks, so this is somewhat urgent. I am aware that it is possible to purchase a regular Disney Theme Park ticket at a local Disney Store. My question is: can I purchase a Magic Band at my local Disney Store? Then let's say the day before we enter the theme park, I activate/link the ticket to my Magic Band via the Disney World Experience app. Or is the only way to purchase it online? P.s we're not staying at a Walt Disney Resort.

Hi Mike,

This is not a Disney World resort, although it's very close to Downtown Disney and does provide transportation to the parks. It may provide its own transportation from the airport, but you would need confirm directly with the hotel. Since it's not a Disney hotel, you would not receive MagicBands for free, but you could purchase them online before you leave from the Disney Store or in the parks.

Your ability to book FastPasses 60 days is directly tied to staying at a Disney resort. If your hotel is linked in MDE, there should not be a problem booking 60 days out. I would call Disney immediately so that you can book.

Hi there,

This question has probaby been answered, but just to confirm -- I just linked my pass to My Disney Experience and it lists the card as 'active.' I will not be going to WDW until march and I am assuming this just means I can load my card with fastpass+ options and such and not that it will expire after 14 days, right?

Sorry if this is confusing/has already been answered!

Thank you so much!

Hi Lauren,

You are correct. The ticket activation is tied to when you actually enter the park.

Are magic bands from last year reusable for this year if we are staying off site this time? If so how do they get set up?

Reply
FrogBlog Jan 27, 2015 at 7:41 a.m.

Hi Gene,

Your MagicBands are reusable and you should not have to do anything with them to set them up provided you have not made them inactive since your last trip. You can view this in My Disney Experience. If you are not staying onsite, they cannot be used for purchases, but you can use them for touch-to-enter access to the park and on the rides with FastPasses.

We bought the tickets for 7 days in undercovertourist, of course.

Can we associate these tickets to the magic bands give us when we make check in at the first hotel? or It's possible do it now in MDE?

Thks!

Hi Evelin,

You can go ahead and link your tickets now in MDE and make your FastPass+ reservations 60 days out for your length of stay. I would do that as soon as it becomes available to you. Your MagicBands will be mailed or ready for you at check-in and should already be active in MDE.

Hi,

No, it is not. Your fifth person would not get the benefits. Keep in mind that some of the Disney hotels do sleep five. You might consider staying at one of them.

I will divide my next stay in wdw:

3 days All star movies

3 days cruise with DCL

7 days Art of animation

I will buy 10 days tickets on your website

My question is:

Can I associate tickets to both reserves in MDE? or

Can I associate tickets to All star movies reservation and reserve FP+ for all 10 days or only could those 3 days?

Please help me with the correct way to link these tickets to my special situation two Hotel Room reservation.

Thanks so much!!!

So we are coming to disney in August from the UK. We have two 1996 hopper tickets that we think have two days left on them. We are waiting to here back from disney to let us know.

I am assuming that we will have to change these tickets when we get there? That's my first question. Now, we are only planning on doing the MK, TL

Reply
FrogBlog Jan 20, 2015 at 11:39 a.m.

Hi Claire,

Since you have been gone, Disney uses a new FastPass system, FastPass+, which allows you to book advance reservations to skip the lines to three attractions per day at any one park. All of our Disney tickets are FastPass+ enabled, which means you could purchase them from us and link them to your My Disney Experience account and make advance ride reservations.

I must be having an off day, because I am not sure what you mean by TL :), but, yes, you would need to exchange those tickets when you get to the park at Will Call. You could try scanning them with the My Disney Experience app and see if you can link them to your account and make advance FastPass+ reservations.

Reply

Hi George,

If you cancel your trip, your tickets could be saved until you are ready to use them. You actually wouldn't need to unlink them in My Disney Experience. You could just leave them until you are ready for your next trip.

Just to make sure I understand, if we book stay at a Disney resort we will automatically get Magic Bands right? And if we get WDW tickets through you, we will be able to add those to the magic bands and make FP+ reservations 60 days in advance for each day, just like if we bought it all together, right?

Thanks!

Hi Rachel,

Yes, you are correct. You get MagicBands if you are staying at the resort. No matter where you purchase your tickets, they can then be linked to your profile in My Disney Experience. The FastPass+ information will be available on your tickets and your bands. And yes, you can make reservations for your length of stay at 60 days in advance, which we highly recommend!

This is a bit confusing but here goes. I, my husband and two grand children will be visiting disney and we purchased tickets for all four of us. We will only be taking them for one day each and their parents four other adults will be taking them for the rest of the time. They purchased their own tickets. Is it possible for them to register the two child tickets under their my disney experience and when we take them for the day, can we set up a fast pass with our tickets and our grandchildren's tickets as well for the same time? The parents will not be with us the day we take the kids. Or do we have to register them on our disney experience? Then how will it work for the other days the parents take them?

Reply
FrogBlog Jan 13, 2015 at 6:44 a.m.

Hi Sue,

You should be able to add each other in My Disney Experience so that you and your husband can manage the children's plan and yours together, and their parents can do the same. The tickets need to be registered and linked only under one account, but then you should be able to share that access. Once you are all connected under Friends and Family in My Disney Experience, you could then make FastPasses for any of the party members.

You may need to link your reservation manually. On My Disney Experience, go to "My reservations and tickets" in the right drop down menu under My Disney Experience. Select "Link Resort Reservation" and follow the prompts. If you did not book your hotel directly through the Walt Disney World Resort and your MagicBands have not yet shipped, you also need to double check that the correct address is listed for you.

If you buy MagicBands, the cast members can help you set them up without problems, but if you are only attending the party, do know that FastPass+ will not be available for this event.

So 2 of us are going to WDW (staying at a resort). We will be linking our old park-hopper tickets (2008) to the wristbands using My Disney Experience. We're not sure who used which ticket in 2008. How does the wristbands determine this? Does it also contain a biometric scan?

Reply
FrogBlog Aug 12, 2014 at 7:20 p.m.

Hi Suzy,

When you link your old Park Hoppers, you will be able to make your FastPass+ reservations. I don't think it will matter whose ticket is whose at that point. Your MagicBands will come separately from that and will be attached to the profiles, so your MagicBand will be paired with your profile and whichever ticket you associated with it, and the other MagicBand will be paired with the other profile/ticket.

I am planning a trip to WDW in October after a cruise. It's just a one-day stop at the Magic Kingdom. I have two tickets that I have to pick up at will call and the other three I am considering buying from you. Do you know if I make FP+ reservations on the three tickets I'll have, can I add the other two the day of and still have the same reservation times? Or do I just have to wait and do all of them the day of?

Reply
FrogBlog Jul 24, 2014 at 1:39 p.m.

Hi Matt,

I would go ahead and book the FastPasses for the three tickets you have and then try to get the others for the same time. It's possible that you won't be able to get those same reservation times, but you might get lucky.

Let us know how it goes!

You do not need to put your resort information in My Disney Experience if you are not staying at a Disney resort. We do not currently have step-by-step information on how to use My Disney Experience, but we have found the process to be straightforward.

I bought Disney tickets from UT last year, and was told I should upgrade them to the new RFID tickets at guest services when we get there. We are staying off site and I was planning to do this at Downtown Disney on the day we arrive. However now I can get Magic Bands, can I link my current(non RFID) ticket to My Disney Experience and then link my MDE account to the Magic Bands? You early advice in this post says to take the RFID tickets as well as  Magic Bands. If I get my ticket changed to RFID ones can I get the RFID tickets linked to my MDE account and keep my FP+ reservations?

Reply

Hi Peter,

Yes, you can link your current ticket in MDE and make advance FastPass+ reservations. You will not lose your FP+ reservations if you upgrade your ticket at the gate and if you decide to purchase a MagicBand. Hope that helps!

Hi Deb,

Unless something has changed very recently, because you are staying at the Dolphin, you will not get a wristband. You can purchase one in the park, though, for $12.95 plus tax. That is strictly optional, however, and our tickets have the same functionality as the wristband.

I spoke to someone at Disney World this morning and they told me that I could buy tickets from you and link them to my experience. They also told me that I could book fastpass+ for rides and characters using your ticket 60 days in advance. Is this true. Because I was originally told that I had to be staying on park or buy their tickets. I was told that any ticket purchased to get into the parks could be done online. Other wise some of the fastpass+ may be sold out early

Hi Kim,

You can link your tickets to My Disney Experience after you purchase them, BUT at this time, you can book Fastpass+ up to 60 days in advance ONLY if you are staying at a Disney resort. This is true if you buy the tickets from us or Disney direct.

Sorry, I should have came back sooner and reported about my ticket. I had the non-expiring 10 day ticket with the Fun and More options on my ticket. When I transferred my numbers on the My Magic Website to my reservations, the Fun and More options did not transfer, nor show up on their computer. We went to Fantasia Golf course, it did not show up on my Magic Band. Luckily I had my old ticket along.

A CM that used to work in Customer Service at DtD now works at Fantasia and she knew what I was talking about. She told her supervisor how to change my ticket and get all my Fun and More options to show up on my Magic Band. She told me if I have any left after our trip, I will have to go to Customer Service and get them on again when we return to WDW.

I'm concerned about the environmental impact of the RFID bands. We stay at WDW resorts a few times a year. We received the bands on our last visit over New Year's. We were disappointed to learn the bands were not reusable on future trips and they are not recycled and reused by WDW.

Are there plans to change this, or are filling up the landfills with these bands after each trip?

Because MyMagic+ is still in testing, many of the features of the new system are still being rolled out to guests. Jen,

To receive MagicBands, you would need to create a My Disney Experience account and link your upcoming resort reservation and tickets. You then should receive instructions on customizing MagicBands. When you arrive at check-in, your MagicBands would then serve as your tickets, room key and charge card (similar to the old Keys to the World cards).

Okay, I am confused after reading the previous comments and the blog article. You replied above:

"Hi Dave,

Is that the rules right now and they will be changing??? I called today and inquired about this and was told that "Yes, if I was staying off site I could still link the tickets that I would purchase from UT to my disney experience acct to book FastPass+ reservations." But, that is not what you replied above. Just trying to clarify so I am not expecting one thing and then not able to do it. If it is a rule that is expected to change when do you think it will be changing?

Thank you so much for your help!!!

Reply
FrogBlog Jan 21, 2014 at 1:28 p.m.

Hi Cheryl,

It is true now that you can link your tickets from UCT to your My Disney Experience account.

The only difference currently (MyMagic+ is still in testing) is that you must be a resort guest to book FastPass+ reservations 60 days in advance. If you are not a resort guest, you are only able to make day-of reservations (expected to be available for all four parks by the end of this week, but currently available at Disney's Animal Kingdom, Magic Kingdom and Disney's Hollywood Studios).

It's possible that very soon once the testing is complete, park guests will be able to make reservations further in advance of their trips, but currently that is not how it works. We will let you know as soon as more information is available!
