Overview of Disney's All-Star Sports Resort

Disney's All-Star Sports Resort is part of the trio of All-Star Resorts: Music, Movies and Sports. It opened to the public in April 1994 and remains one of the most popular value resorts to this day!

The resort is divided into five sections. Upon exiting Stadium Hall (aka the lobby area where you'll check in), you'll find "Surf's Up!" Decorated with surfboards and large shark fins, these two sections circle the Surfboard Bay pool. To the left will be the football section, aptly called "Touchdown!" Here, you'll find those large footballs and football helmets, as well as a football field. Next to that is "Homerun Hotel," which surrounds the Grand Slam Pool. This pool is much smaller than the Surfboard Bay pool and usually less crowded.

Heading back over to the exit of Stadium Hall, walk past the "Surf's Up!" section to your left, and you'll be at "Center Court." Be sure to snag a photo in front of the large tennis ball tubes! To the right is "Hoops Hotel" (basketball-themed), and then as you circle back to the front of the resort, you'll come across the other half of "Surf's Up!"

Disney's All-Star Sports has a food court, gift shop, playground, arcade, pool bar and two pools. It's the first resort on the bus route before picking up/dropping off guests at Disney's All-Star Music and Disney's All-Star Movies.

Disney's All-Star Sports Resort Rooms

- All-Star Sports Resort — Standard room

Disney's All-Star Sports has 1,920 rooms, with standard rooms measuring 260 square feet.

There are only two room options at this resort: standard and preferred. The standard rooms sleep up to four adults and have one queen bed and one queen-size table bed. The views are of the pool, courtyard or parking lot. Preferred rooms, on the other hand, are located closer to Stadium Hall. They still have the same bed, sleep and viewing options.

Both standard and preferred rooms come with the same amenities, which include:

  • In-room safe
  • Free WiFi
  • Iron and ironing board
  • Hairdryer
  • Beverage cooler
  • Telephone with voicemail

Despite the larger-than-life sports theming outside, the decor inside the rooms is understated. There are pictures of Huey, Dewey and Louie behind the table bed and some Disney pop art over the queen bed. When the table bed is not in use, it doubles as a desk or dining area. There's one bathroom. However, the shower and toilet are separate, making it easier for families to get ready.

Transportation at All-Star Sports Resort

Disney's All-Star Sports - Bus Stop

The bus will be your main transportation option to and from the parks and Disney Springs. Like the other All-Star resorts, Sports shares a bus route with its sister hotels. It is the first pick-up and drop-off location, which is good news after a long day at Magic Kingdom!

The bus stop is located right outside Stadium Hall. Keep in mind that Disney's All-Star Sports is closest to Animal Kingdom. This means that transportation to and from Magic Kingdom will take about 20 minutes.

Amenities, Recreation and Shopping at Disney's All-Star Sports Resort

Disney's All-Star Sports - Surfboard Bay Pool

When it comes to having a lazy day at your resort, you're in luck because All-Star Sports has so much to offer! Cool down with the Surfboard Bay Pool — a 242,471-gallon swimming pool that offers a variety of poolside activities throughout the day, including relays and trivia! Or head over to the Grand Slam Pool for a much more relaxing swim. Did we mention that this pool has a pitcher's mound that blasts water? Gnarly! There's also a kiddie pool for young tadpoles to splash around in and enjoy near Stadium Hall! (Note: the Surfboard Bay Pool and the kiddie pool will be closed for maintenance from January 2026 to April 2026. The Grand Slam Pool will remain open, and guests are welcome to use the other pools at All-Star Music and All-Star Movies.)

Tadpoles can get their energy out at the playground near the "Touchdown!" section or score the winning point at Game Point Arcade (located inside Stadium Hall). Before heading to the parks, take advantage of the one-mile jogging track around the All-Star Resorts. At night, grab the fam and enjoy a Disney movie by the Surfboard Bay Pool. Movies Under the Stars usually takes place every Sunday, Monday, Wednesday and Friday. You can even roast marshmallows by fire by the Intermission Food Court (at Disney's All-Star Music) nightly. Recreational schedules are subject to change — visit the front desk for exact dates and times during your stay.

In addition to all this recreational fun, enjoy complimentary amenities such as "Hey Disney!", free overnight parking, online check-in, currency exchange, 24-hour ATM, mail services and housekeeping every other day. There's even an on-site, 24-hour self-service laundry room.

If you forgot anything such as sunscreen lotion or Minnie Ears, stop by Sport Goofy Gifts and Sundries. This is the resort's gift shop, and they sell snacks, souvenirs and necessities such as hand sanitizer, toothpaste and other sundries. This gift shop is also located inside Stadium Hall and will be immediately to your left upon entering the building.

Dining at Disney's All-Star Sports Resort

Guests of Disney's All-Star Sports Resort have one main dining option: the End Zone Food Court. Open from 6:30 a.m. to 11 p.m., the food court serves standard American fare, including cheeseburgers, chicken strips, sandwiches and pizza. For breakfast, grab some Mickey-shaped Waffles for $10.79 or an Avocado Breakfast Bowl for $10.49. At dinner, order a large cheese or pepperoni pizza for the whole family to enjoy!

Be sure to check the menu when you're there, as this resort occasionally offers limited menu items. The good news is that you can place a mobile order! Leap and I can attest that ordering ahead of time makes our mornings go much more smoothly! While Tad and Lily are splashing around in the pool, we'll grab a drink at the Grandstand Spirits bar near the main pool. They serve a variety of alcoholic drinks, including beer, mules and margaritas. Small plates and snacks, including salad, chips and Mickey pretzels, are available too.

What You Should Consider Before Staying at Disney's All-Star Sports Resort

So what should you consider before booking a room at Disney's All-Star Sports Resort? Here's what you need to know:

  • It's a value resort, meaning it's one of the most affordable hotels on Disney property. You can save even more green by booking through Undercover Tourist!
  • You can enjoy the amenities offered at Disney's All-Star Music and All-Star Movie Resorts, including the pools.
  • These resorts are the farthest away from Magic Kingdom, so you may have to start your day a bit earlier or plan accordingly.
  • On the other hand, they're closest to Animal Kingdom.
  • If you plan to visit a water park, you will have to go to Disney Springs and transfer to Typhoon Lagoon. However, there is direct bus service to Blizzard Beach.
  • This resort has the farthest bus stop of all four theme parks.
  • It is a popular choice for large groups. Competitive cheerleading, basketball, gymnastics and other high school teams often book rooms at the All-Star Resorts (usually in the spring). High schools also usually book their senior trips at these resorts.

Touching more on the last point, the influx of students staying here often means that rooms here can book up quickly. So, if you want to stay here, we recommend booking as early as possible. All in all, All-Star Sports is a great value resort with excellent theming and all the perks of staying on-site, including Early Theme Park Entry.

The rooms are spacious for a family of four, and the rates are incredibly affordable, especially compared to the other resorts on property. That being said, you will want to consider whether or not you want to be staying at a resort during the same time as larger groups because it can get quite loud.

Like the other All-Star Resorts, you can't go wrong with this one. It has great theming, convenient amenities and proximity to Animal Kingdom, which is great if you want to rope-drop Expedition Everest!
