Then test your pioneering spirit as you: Row your way downriver frontier-style without any motorized help, race around Tom Sawyer Island in real canoes, watch out for wildlife along the river's edge! Your canoe will explore the waters around Pirate's Lair on Tom Sawyer Island-- New Orleans Square, Chick-A-Pin Hill and Frontierland are all visible from here!
Davy Crockett's Explorer Canoes are located in Critter Country at Disneyland® Park. It takes around 10 minutes to row down the river. Guests must transfer from their wheelchair/ECV to a canoe by themselves or with the assistance of a party member. Guests must also navigate steps when boarding and disembarking the canoe. For wheelchair access, proceed to the attraction exit via the ramp next to the lower-level stairs of Hungry Bear Restaurant. Ask a Cast Member for instructions.
Beware - Davy Crockett's Explorer Canoes load more slower than Sailing Ship Columbia or Mark Twain Riverboat.
We usually opt for one of the latter two, but if the canoes are operating and you have time, try 'em out!
The 20-passenger vessels are real, free-floating canoes; there is no motor and no track. Modeled after the boats that early Native American and European explorers used to traverse the real rivers of America, these 35-foot-long canoes are powered entirely by paddles.
The canoes follow the same path as the Mark Twain Riverboat and the Sailing Ship Columbia.
