What Are the Dates for Halloween Horror Nights 2026?

Halloween Horror Nights runs select nights from August through November at Universal Orlando Resort. In 2026, Halloween Horror Nights at Universal Studios Florida will kick off Aug. 28 and run until Nov. 1 — making this the earliest it has ever started! Halloween Horror Nights Orlando 2026 Dates

What Is Premium Scream Night?

Premium Scream Night gets you into the fog before anyone else ... and this year, Halloween Horror Nights is doubling your dates with destiny. Not only will guests be able to enter Jack and Oddfellow's carnival before anyone else on Aug. 27, 2026, but you'll also be able to enjoy the same petrifying perks on Oct. 19, 2026.

Once again, the bravest of frogs can experience Halloween Horror Nights 35 with limited capacity, shorter wait times, all-you-care-to-enjoy food and nonalcoholic beverages, access to sinister scare zones, eerie live entertainment and some of Universal Studios' most hair-raising attractions, complimentary self-parking and more. Guests can even wear costumes, subject to Universal Orlando's Costume Policy! (No costume masks allowed.) Tickets start from $399 per person, plus tax, and are available only through Universal directly and have sold out in previous years.

Right now, you can Buy 3 Days and Get 2 Days FREE at Universal Orlando Resort (including Epic Universe!)! Valid for visits through Dec. 16, 2026, excluding blockout dates.

What Are the Best Dates to Attend Halloween Horror Nights at Universal Studios Florida?

Unlike many other fall theme park events that generally bring in families for one night, Halloween Horror Nights at Universal Studios Florida scares up a good portion of guests, especially locals, who attend multiple nights throughout the season to experience the fear over and over. The nature of the event and the number of locals have a significant impact on crowds. Saturdays are the busiest nights, with Friday nights not too far behind them. The very best nights to attend, as far as crowds go, are Wednesdays. It is nearly impossible to see everything in one night without upgrading your experience (which we'll get into later). Still, picking the best night to attend, as well as following our tips below, will help you see and do as much as you can.

What Time Does Halloween Horror Nights Start?

We recommend getting to the park at least 45 minutes ahead of the official opening at 6:30 p.m. to make the most of your time. Typically, Universal opens the gates earlier than the official starting time. (If you're staying at one of the Universal Orlando Resort properties — Loews Portofino Bay Hotel, Universal Hard Rock Hotel, Loews Royal Pacific Resort, Loews Sapphire Falls ResortUniversal Cabana Bay Beach Resort, Universal Aventura Hotel, Universal Endless Summer, Universal Stella Nova Resort, Universal Terra Luna Resort and Universal Helios Grand Hotel — take advantage of the priority entrance gate until 7:30 p.m. to get in more quickly.)

In our experience, the gates open for guests between 5:30 p.m. and 6:15 p.m. On opening night in 2025, the opening scaremony started at 6 p.m. on the dot with the gates opening immediately after.

When Does Halloween Horror Nights End?

Halloween Horror Nights ends each night at 2 a.m. That means you can get in line for a house as late as 1:59 a.m. This is a great strategy to utilize for houses with notoriously long wait times, since it means you won't waste any time during the actual event waiting in line for it! If you're planning to do this, we highly recommend sneaking in a (black) cat nap before arriving at the park so you don't lose steam early on in the night.

Do Day Tickets or Annual Passes Count for Halloween Horror Nights?

No, Halloween Horror Nights is a separately ticketed event, which means it's separate admission from general admission during the day.

Halloween Horror Nights Tickets

Five Nights at Freddy's Express sign at Halloween Horror Nights Orlando

Halloween Horror Nights 2026 tickets start at a final price of $92.01! You can save up to $62 versus the general admission gate price by purchasing through Undercover Tourist, so you can leave room in your budget for another helping of pizza fries or that all-important Express Pass, which allows you to enjoy one-time access for a shorter wait time at all 10 haunted houses, plus at participating attractions.

It's important to note that Halloween Horror Nights at Universal Studios Florida is a separately ticketed event. Halloween Horror Nights tickets will not get you into the theme parks during regular hours. No need to worry, though! We also offer discount tickets for Universal Studios Florida, Universal Islands of Adventure, Universal Epic Universe or Universal Volcano Bay if you want to visit during the day. Universal Studios Florida generally closes at 5 p.m. for those not staying for the event (though Universal Islands of Adventure will maintain its normal closing time if you have a park-to-park ticket and would like to hop).

If you want to take advantage of Halloween Horror Nights Stay & Scream (aka early entry), you'll also need regular park admission or a Scream Early ticket. The latter now grants you access to at least three haunted houses starting at 2 p.m. — a whole hour earlier than previous years! — plus time to enjoy the iconic attractions you love until the park officially closes.

Stay & Scream changed in 2025. Instead of waiting in holding areas, guests were able to pick up wristbands starting at 3 p.m. at select locations, and then could enter queues for select houses starting at 4 p.m. We'll be sure to get on-the-ground research about the newest 2 p.m. change. Until then, we've written a post on how Halloween Horror Nights Stay & Scream works (details subject to change with the new time). And don't froget, you can bundle your hotel stay for extra savings through Undercover Tourist, too!

If you can't get enough screams in one night, there are multi-night passes available directly through Universal Orlando. Frequent Fear passes that include Express sell out fast, so be sure to score yours ASAP when they go on sale in 2026 (usually the passes go on sale around July). In 2025, multi-night tickets granted you access to: 1) the first 18 event nights with the Rush of Fear Pass; 2) every Sunday through Thursday, PLUS the first weekend with the Frequent Fear Pass; 3) every Sunday through Friday, PLUS the first and last Saturday with the Frequent Fear Plus Pass; or 4) EVERY night AND get free regular parking after 5 p.m. on all event nights with the Ultimate Frequent Fear Pass. When purchasing a multi-night pass, you'll need to select a start date. Your first visit using the pass MUST be ON or AFTER the selected start date.

Halloween Horror Nights Orlando Houses + Park Plan

Sinners Key Art Halloween Horror Nights Orlando

Every year, Universal's Entertainment team pulls out all the stops to bring to life 10 terrifying haunted houses based on both beloved IPs and unique, original concepts. This year, you're invited into the hoppening Club Juke as the Academy Award-winning film, "Sinners," is brought to life. Something tells me you might want to stock up on stakes and garlic ... Hop over to our dedicated house blog for our full list of all the haunted houses, as well as our plan on how to best tackle them during your night in the fog.

Halloween Horror Nights Scare Zones

Second to the houses, but central to the terror, are the infamous scare zones, which take place in various open areas of the park with their own sets, sounds and, yes, even scents. Expect to be terrified and harassed by creatures of the night. These scare actors come out of nowhere and have no illusions about respecting your personal space (although they are not allowed to touch you, and you are not allowed to touch them)! Prepare for more scare actors and scenic design all around the park than you've ever seen before.

Here were the scare zones that awaited your arrival for Halloween Horror Nights 34 in 2025.

The Origins of Horror

Gargoyle from Origins of Horror at Halloween Horror Nights Orlando

Once you pass through the gates, your gothic nightmare begins. Enter a decaying conservatory — full of a murder of monstrous, larger-than-life crows, gargoyles with humongous wingspans that come to life and other ghastly creatures — where tortured artists use chainsaws to carve tributes to Halloween Horror Nights 34. There's no going back now ...

A chilling entrance as the fog rolls in, this scare zone brought the (after)life back to the Minion Land scare zone with beautiful scenic design and plenty of petrifying photo ops!

Masquerade: Dance with Death

Scareactor from Masquerade: Dance with Death at Halloween Horror Nights Orlando

It's a party that's simply to die for. Welcome to a macabre masquerade where parched bloodsuckers lurk behind ornate disguises. Fall prey to the music —or your dance partner. "Run and hide —  but a face will still pursue you."

Gorgeous ballgowns, stained glass and even a fallen chandelier(!!!), this scare zone brings elegance and grace back to Hollywood ... with a side of good ol' fashioned murder. Some of our favorite costume designs of the night were found in this garish gala. As much of a feast for the eyes as blood is for the vampires who roam here.

The Cat Lady of Crooked Lane

Trick-or-Treater from The Cat Lady of Crooked Lane at Halloween Horror Nights Orlando

It's Halloween night! As you wander the winding path to the next house — dressed up in your favorite costume, bag full of sweets — you notice feral feline eyes watching you from the shrubbery. Little do you know, once you knock on the door, you'll be joining the colonies of kitties. Don't be a scaredy-cat. It's not called "trick-or-treat" for nothing.

Laid out like a storybook with pages to boot, this callback from last year's Slaughter Sinema 2 is storytelling taken to the next level. As you enter Crooked Lane, you see unassuming kids enjoying their night trick-or-treating. As you pass further into the twisted tail, though, you begin to witness terrifying transformations inflicted upon the children ... before coming face-to-face with a whole litter of fully mutated moggies.

That's not all, though! This Central Park scare zone is bigger than EVER before as the classic Halloween horror extends toward the area in front of Animal Actors on Location. Step on up to the Cat Lady's house, where you'll meet the old crone herself, who periodically lures future felines into her humble abode. There's also a mini haunted house-esque area where creepy kitties are lurking around every corner.

Mutations: Toxic Twenties

Scareactors from Mutations: Toxic Twenties at Halloween Horror Nights Orlando

Why, this scare zone is the bee's knees! In the 1920s, a BzzzCon truck filled with radioactive cargo collided with a mobster getaway car. Get ready to make your way through the toxic pandemonium in this nasty neighborhood. Ya follow?

Rife with victims screaming and begging for help, New York has gone green. Mobsters, flappers and fuzz run amok as the doomed street begins experiencing the sickening effects of the malignant goo courtesy of everyone's favorite laboratory from Bugs: Eaten Alive. Be sure to get a real good look at the fateful car crash ... just don't get too close.

Halloween Horror Nights Street Experiences

Masked performer from Club Horror at Halloween Horror Nights Orlando

Brand-new last year, the masterful team behind Halloween Horror Nights teased suspenseful street experiences that took the horror to new heights. We rocked around the clock at Mel's Die-In Zombies, featuring zombie carhops (two of which are on roller skates), and danced the night away at Club Horror, featuring an undead DJ and dancers in full macabre makeup.

Chainsaw horde clown at Halloween Horror Nights Orlando

Roaming carnie chainsaw hordes also returned to the back of the park this year. We saw (and heard) them wreaking havoc in Springfield all season long.

That's not all! We watched our backs everywhere we turned throughout the night. The Miles County Clown himself caused chaos in every corner of the park. Variations of the killer clown from the "Terrifier" franchise appeared in queues, stores, restaurants and dangerously dark alleys. We loved raving with him in Club Horror and have most definitely had our spirits lifted seeing him race around on his tricycle. Halloween Horror Nights 34 truly was a work of Art.

Will you answer the call? Next to the San Francisco Pastry Company, we found a photo op for "Black Phone 2". The Grabber rose from the grave and might've just been on the other end of the line.

Halloween Horror Nights Entertainment

Every year, Universal produces electrifying entertainment so you can take a break from the terror. Here's a look at the 2025 ominous offerings.

Nightmare Fuel: Circus of Decay

Fuel Girls in Nightmare Fuel: Circus of Decay at Halloween Horror Nights Orlando

A fiery show has ignited Halloween Horror Nights the last few years, featuring nocturnal creatures, aerialists of the night and frightful fire performers. Set to pulse-pounding rock, metal and electronica music, this epic performance is loud enough to drown out the screams. In 2024, the nightmares continued in a dark circus that carried a sinister curse. In 2025, the circus is barely surviving, yet the nightmare is unrelenting.

The flames are hotter, the acrobatics are more astounding and the tricks are more terrifying in this new iteration of the beloved show. My jaw was truly on the ground at several points! (You won't be able to look away from the sickeningly masterful contortionist as he takes center stage.) The nightmares have truly come back with a vengeance ... and a killer playlist to boot (featuring hits such as "Seven Nation Army," "Toxic" and "Run Boy Run"). This is one show you do not want to miss!

2025 Showtimes: 8 p.m., 9:30 p.m., 11 p.m., 12:30 a.m.

Haunt-O-Phonic: A Ghoulish Journey

Haunt-o-Phonic: A Ghoulish Journey at Halloween Horror Nights Orlando

Rising from a watery grave, there's a new ghost in town who's haunting the Universal Studios lagoon. This show features towering water screens and eerie music, which was new in 2025.

2025 Showtimes: 9 p.m., 10 p.m., 11 p.m., 12 a.m.

Death Eaters Encounter

Death Eaters in Diagon Alley at Halloween Horror Nights Orlando

Once again, a group of Voldemort's most devoted followers roamed Diagon Alley on select dates, looking to find others willing to join the Dark Lord's cause. Wands at the ready, witches and wizards, because they just might challenge you to a duel. Their sets hoppen about every 20 minutes with opening and closing performances on the Carkitt Market stage. Be sure to roam around Diagon Alley during their set to see them casting spells and recruiting followers.

Halloween Horror Nights Rides

Halloween Horror Nights Food and Merchandise

Cupcake from Five Nights at Freddy's at Halloween Horror Nights Orlando

Universal's culinary artists always go all out for All Hallows' Eve. We loved devouring deviously delicious dishes and drinks themed to the 2025 houses, such as "Fallout"-inspired Yum Yum Deviled Eggs and Radaway, "Terrifier"-inspired Clown Cafe Bloody Popcorn and Starry Night Spritz, "Jason Universe"-inspired Elotes and Crystal Lake Coffee, "WWE Presents: The Horrors of The Wyatt Sicks"-inspired Huskus' Muscle Man Slop and Light the Way and a "Five Nights at Freddy's"-inspired Cupcake.

The original houses and scare zones also got some love in food form with the Artist's Palette for El Artista: A Spanish Haunting (sugar-coated churros with three dipping sauces), Lyla's Temper Tantrum Tendies for Dolls: Let's Play Dead (chicken tenders with a choice of sauce) and the Birria Beef Walking Taco for The Cat Lady of Crooked Lane (a grab-and-go walking taco).

We feel like it's important to note that while Classic Pizza Fries returned last year, Twisted Taters underwent a transformation. We indulged in Twisted Tater Chips, golden, crunchy chips which came with either spicy cheddar or ranch and vinegar.

Sergio Navarro at Halloween Horror Nights Orlando

Returning last year, we got to enter The HHN Bar, a wicked watering hole featuring themed libations and photo opportunities with original content characters!

Is your stomach growling already? Hop over to our Halloween Horror Nights foodie guide, where we share everything you need to know about all the Halloween food and drink offerings resort-wide, from right outside the haunted houses to safe inside the hotels.

Halloween Horror Nights Merchandise

Tribute Store interior at Halloween Horror Nights Orlando

Each year, the event’s merchandise typically features all of the haunted houses and scare zones, so you’ll be sure to find a nice memento (whether it’s a sweatshirt or a souvenir cup) for Halloween Horror Nights. Grab all your ghostly goodies at Universal Studios Tribute Store — which, last year, was bigger than ever before in a new location at the Palace Arcade and Sahara Traders.

You can usually find T-shirts, sippers, candles and other ghoulish delights here, as well as in Five & Dime and the Universal Studios Store in Universal Studios, the Universal Studios Store in CityWalk and the Islands of Adventure Trading Company and the All Hallows' Eve Boutique in Islands of Adventure.

Other Universal Studios Florida shopping venues open during the event were:

  • Supply Vault
  • The Film Vault
  • Sahara Traders
  • San Francisco Candy Factory
  • Diagon Alley Shops
  • Borgin & Burkes
  • MIB Gear
  • Simpsons Games
  • Kwik-E-Mart

Deathly Afraid Necklace

Deathly Afraid Necklace at Halloween Horror Nights Orlando

Want to relax a little while walking around Universal Studios Florida? Brand new last year, you could purchase a light-up Deathly Afraid Necklace for $20, which signaled to scare actors in scare zones that you don't want to be targeted. Note this necklace was not for use in haunted houses, where you would receive the same amount of scares as every other guest. You could find these at the Universal Studios Store in both Universal CityWalk and Universal Studios Florida, the Halloween Horror Nights Tribute Store, MIB Gear and merchandise carts near MEN IN BLACK: Alien Attack.

Feel the Fear Medallion Quest

Also brand-new last year, Halloween Horror Nights hosted a virtual scavenger hunt amidst the terror. We used the Universal Orlando Resort app to search for horror-themed digital medallions throughout the park. If you found all the medallions, you could take a piece of the horror home with you. Hoppy h(a)unting!

Tips for Attending Halloween Horror Nights 2026 at Universal Studios Florida

Before you read any further, be sure to hop over to our Halloween Horror Nights planning tips blog to get all the must-know info as you're preparing for your descent into the fog. Additionally, check out our terrifying tips to maximize your time. The night goes fast, and every sinister second counts!

1. Consider an Express Pass

We always get asked if the Express Passes are worth it. Our answer is that it really depends on when you're going and if you want to hit all 10 houses in one night. We'd definitely recommend it on Fridays and Saturdays in October, especially closer to Halloween. Wednesdays and Thursdays are less busy days, and if you take advantage of early entry (see our next tip!), you have a better chance of hitting all 10 houses without an Express Pass.

Universal may sell Express Passes at kiosks throughout the park. So if you change your mind while you're there, you have that last-minute opportunity. You can also buy an Express Pass that's half the original price, but it only works after 11 p.m. Just keep in mind that both of these Express Pass options are subject to availability.

2. Arrive Early

Hotel Guest Entrance sign at Halloween Horror Nights Orlando

We can't stress this enough: Arriving early is the single best way to ensure you make the most of your night. The event typically begins at 6:30 p.m., but Universal often lets guests in up to half an hour early. Universal Resort hotel guests also have a dedicated line from 6:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.. Even better is staying in the park after it closes for Stay and Scream early entry, so you can hit a few houses before it gets super busy later at night.

3. Dress Light and Stay Hydrated

Is it just us, or is September in Orlando hotter than ever before? Despite taking place mostly after dark, we were still sweating our 'lil frog legs off all weekend at Halloween Horror Nights 34. Wear cool, comfortable clothes.

On top of being deceptively hot and humid, Halloween Horror Nights at Universal Studios Florida is a pretty intense event. Bring a water bottle to make staying cool a breeze and save money (make sure it's empty before going through security or else they'll ask you to dump it; you can fill it up once inside the park) or purchase the HHN Freestyle cup for a fun souvenir. Aside from that, bottled water is available for purchase.

4. Eat Early

Sunflower Cookies as glasses at Halloween Horror Nights Orlando

You'll find snacks for sale, as well as alcohol, throughout the park. Look for carts set up along the streets. Lines for food and drinks can get long at times! Fuel up before you leave or early in the evening, and you can spend more time getting the daylights scared out of you. We noticed that food lines started to decrease after midnight.

5. Splurge on Snacks

If you have time to dedicate to fun food and drinks, check out the event-exclusive goodies. Eating (and Instagramming, TBH) these goodies is always enjoyable.

6. Watch Out for the Creatures of the Night!

If you want to avoid the street creatures, although we can't imagine why you'd want to, they largely stick to the streets and leave guests on the sidewalks alone.

7. Respect the Scare Actors

Zombie from Mel's Die-In at Halloween Horror Nights Orlando

Last but not least, please remember that the scare actors are people too! No matter how monstrous they may seem, the scare actors will not actually touch or hurt you ... so please treat them with the same respect! Keep your hands, food, drinks and any unkind words to yourself for the best experience for everyone involved. This event is all about having FUN! Avoid using flash to photograph any "creatures" in the scare zones, and just ask if you really feel the need. They'll usually be happy to pose for (or with!) you.

Hi Sondi!

Halloween is more understated during daytime hours. There are usually seasonal sweets and treats at TODAY Cafe, Croissant Moon and San Francisco Pastry Company. You can take spooky-themed photos in the scare zones during the day, and peruse the All Hallows Eve Boutique and Tribute Store. You could get your face painted at Islands of Adventure or Universal Studios Florida, or participate in the Monster Makeover experience (Dark Universe) at Epic Universe. If you want to resort hop, many of the hotel lobbies have fun photo-ops as well.

Hi Nathaniel!

With any ride-sharing app such as Uber or Lyft, it ultimately depends on how many active drivers there are in a given moment. That said, generally speaking, Orlando is a pretty active city, especially around a popular event such as Halloween Horror Nights, so there shouldn't be an issue of not getting one. Just be prepared in case the line may be long with others trying to leave at the same time.

This is our first time attending HHN. Does the express pass include the admission or do i need two tickets - an admission ticket and the express pass as an add-on?

Hi Jill!

Yes — at Universal Orlando, you will need separate tickets for HHN admission and Express Pass (as an add-on).

(Just noting that, over on the West Coast at Universal Studios Hollywood, the Express ticket includes general HHN admission, so you'd only need one ticket.)

I have a question

All the attractions and rides (non ha) are open like a regular day?

Hi Joqiin!

During the day, the park operates as normal, so all rides and shows are open. But unless you have a Halloween Horror Nights ticket for later that evening, the park closes early at 6 p.m. to the general public.

If you're asking specifically about what is open during Halloween Horror Nights, only select rides remain open. So if you wish to experience everything, we would recommend visiting during the day as well.

This is my 4th time attending HHN and I CAN NOT wait to hear about the houses! Usually I get the express pass since I go in October, do you think it’s necessary for early sept on a Sat night? Thanks!

FrogBlog Says...

Hi Holly!

Typically, the busiest nights that are earlier in the season would be the Opening Weekend dates. Since Opening Weekend takes place over the last weekend of August, we think Express wouldn't be as necessary for Saturdays in early September. But definitely take advantage of Early Entry if you're an annual passholder or consider purchasing an Early Access ticket. You could also look out for the Express After 11 p.m. option, which is more likely to be sold on less busy nights, just in case you find yourself behind on houses!

Hi Jodi!

The Scream Early ticket allows park admission starting at 3 p.m. We have a separate post about Early Entry, and we go into more detail and tips, as well as describe our own experience from Opening Night this year. Have fun in the fog!

Hi! thank you very much for the information. I still have a question. We will be in the park for the day. Do we have to exit from the park to queue for Halloween Horror Night? If yes, do we to get inside at 6:15 p.m. as someone with a HHN single ticket? Thank you very much for your help!!

FrogBlog Says...

Hi Mary!

No, if you're already inside for daytime admission, you do not have to exit the park! There are two main holding areas where you can enter at 5 p.m. (or before, if you want to hop in line for any of the early entry houses) once the park officially closes. We have a separate post about HHN Early Entry and how you can use it to your benefit!
