The Very Best Snacks at Universal Orlando Resort (and Where to Find Them!)

by Mommy Frog on September 20, 2023 Orlando

Best Snacks at Universal Orlando - PinterestSure, vacationing frogs hop to the theme parks mainly to go on rides and see their favorite characters. But the food is another significant part of the overall experience, right?

Many of the best snacks at the Universal Orlando Resort are based on movies or TV shows. Others are super photogenic, so be sure to whip out your phone's camera! (No shame, frogs! Everyone takes food pics these days.)

Using our expert taste buds, we hunted down the best snacks at Universal Orlando Resort. Here's a list of some of our favorites and where to find them!

The Best Snacks at Universal Orlando

Butterbeer (Universal Studios Florida and Universal Islands of Adventure)

Is it really a trip to Universal Orlando if you don’t have a Butterbeer? Kudos to Universal for creating an iconic drink that’s perfect for any occasion — celebrating a birthday, cooling down on a hot day or just pretending you’re a wizard. Best of all, you can try Butterbeer in six different versions. Chug it down while it’s cold or frozen or opt for the hot version now offered year-round. If you want it as a sweet treat, try the fudge, potted cream or ice cream!

Best Snacks at Universal Orlando - Butterbeer

We’ve tried all six, and every member of the Frog Fam has a different favorite. You can find all of the Butterbeer treats at different spots inside The Wizarding World of Harry Potter - Diagon Alley and Hogsmeade.

The Big Pink (Universal Studios)

Best Snacks at Universal Orlando - The Big Pink

If you’ve ever wanted a doughnut as large as your face, look no further than The Big Pink. The Big Pink is a massive doughnut with pink frosting and sprinkles that has appeared on The Simpsons. If you have a strong love for glazed rings of dough like Homer, you’ll definitely want to hop over to Lard Lad Donuts in Springfield, U.S.A: Home of The Simpsons. We wouldn’t blame you if you enlist some extra help with The Big Pink. Tad and Lily usually can’t finish one, so Leap and I end up with leftovers.

Specialty Milkshakes at Toothsome (Universal CityWalk)

Best Snacks at Universal Orlando - Toothsome Milkshake

Say “The Toothsome Chocolate Emporium & Savory Feast Kitchen” three times fast. With a name like this, you know it must be home to some of the best snacks at Universal Orlando. And indeed, it is — specifically the specialty milkshakes. Take your pick from over 10 different milkshake creations. Chocolate lover? You need the Chocolate X5 in your life. Want a coffee buzz too? Espresso Buzzzz is calling your name.

Cauldron Cakes (Universal Studios and Islands of Adventure)

Best Snacks at Universal Orlando - Cauldron Cake

You know that song our favorite Frog Choir sings: “Double, double, toil and trouble. Fire burn and cauldron bubble?" What if my cauldron is bubbling with chocolate cake? This delicious dessert is one of the treats that Harry Potter buys from the food trolley on his first trip aboard the Hogwarts Express.

The cauldron cakes at Universal actually underwent a magical transformation several years ago. The rich chocolate cake is topped with orange and yellow flame-shaped buttercream icing, served in a reusable silicone black cauldron. It comes in a bright Qizilbash Quality Confectionary box, which includes instructions on how to make your own at home! Find a cauldron cake at Sugarplum's Sweet Shop in Diagon Alley or at Honeydukes in Hogsmeade.

Large Warm Soft Pretzel (Universal CityWalk)

Stop by NBC Sports Grill and Brew for a soft pretzel as large as a car steering wheel! Yes, you read that right. This massive appetizer can easily feed an army of hungry frogs in need of a snack. It even comes served with jalapeño queso sauce and Bertman Original Ball Park mustard to dip it in. If you’re a sports fan, this is a great place to take a snack break and watch a game for a bit.

Guava Pastelito (Islands of Adventure)

Best Snacks at Universal Orlando - Guava Pastelito

On our most recent trip, I was feeling hungry a little earlier than the rest of the fam. The Guava Pastelito at Natural Selections in Jurassic Park was more than enough to hold me over while we waited in line for Skull Island: Reign of Kong. This powdered sugar-covered puff pastry is filled with sweet guava and cheese (a favorite combination of mine) and is a great option in the Florida heat as it won't melt! Grab some extra napkins, though, because this flaky find might leave your fingers a little white. (Theme parks are not the best place to risk licking your fingers.)

Waturi Fusion (Volcano Bay)

Over at the Koka Poroka ice cream stand in Universal Volcano Bay, indulge in a tropical treat called Waturi Fusion, which has four distinct swirls of banana, blue raspberry, orange and strawberry soft-serve ice cream. This colorful cone is a perfect prop for your Instagram-worthy vacation photos. Cool down on a sunny Florida day by the pool with this snack in hand.

Brookie (Islands of Adventure)

If you ever find yourself having a hard time choosing between a cookie or a brownie, that’s not a problem with Universal's brookie. It's a chocolate chip cookie baked inside of a chocolate brownie, so you get the best of both worlds! It's a great pick-me-up if you're craving something sweet. You can find it at most quick-service locations, including Blondie'sPizza Predattoria and The Burger Digs.

Potato Knish (Islands of Adventure)

Best Snacks at Universal Orlando - Potato Knish

One of my favorite things to buy at our local kosher market by the pond are potato knishes ... so you can imagine how excited I was when I found out they were coming to Marvel Super Hero Island! At the bright green snack stand across from The Amazing Adventures of Spider-Man, you can find this beloved Jewish delicacy. Essentially what it is is mashed potatoes wrapped in soft, flaky dough and baked to crispy, golden perfection. It gets even better when you dip it in the sour cream that it's served with! We love to take ours behind Captain America diner and enjoy our snack with a beautiful lagoon view!

Golden Gate Sunset (Universal Studios)

Best Snacks at Universal Orlando - Golden Gate Sunset

Ask Leap. I'm a certified boba tea addict! While you can find four different types of boba at Bend the Bao over in CityWalk and the uniquely magical Fishy Green Ale over in Diagon Alley, my absolute favorite has to be the Golden Gate Sunset at the brand new food and drink stand right across from Lombard's Seafood Grille in San Francisco. This delicious beverage is made with passion fruit tea and strawberry popping boba pearls — both fruity and refreshing!
