Visiting Disney World? Don't ~Froget~ to Check Out Our Park Plans!

by Leap on September 10, 2022 32 Orlando

Summary

Following a plan is one of the smartest ways to explore the theme parks, and this is especially true if it will be your first time visiting Walt Disney World. There is so much to see and do, and with so many people in the parks, knowing what to do when will save you time in line! Whether you're visiting Magic Kingdom, EPCOT, Disney's Animal Kingdom or Disney's Hollywood Studios, using a Disney park plan will ensure you ride more rides, see more shows and have a great time. Lucky for you, we frogs have created a number of free Disney park plans for everyone to use!

"Disney

Our park plans are optimized for families, and especially those making first-time visits. We've even updated these to include information on Genie+ and individual Lightning Lane selections, so that you can see the different ways to access your favorite rides — and how to access them with the lowest waits. You'll also see our food recommendations aligned with where you may be in the parks. No zig-zagging here!

We've prioritized the rides and shows in our free Disney World park plans so that you visit the most popular attractions with the shortest waits when crowds are low. Picking the right day to visit, arriving ahead of the official opening time and touring efficiently will give you that extra jump on other park guests during the very busiest months of the year (and even during the less-busy times).

What's Included in Our Disney World Itineraries and Where to Find Them

UCT Orlando app – screenshot

Each of our Disney World plans provides an overview of the park, with its notable attractions, special information about its layout and general information about official opening times and the best ways to tour. The park plans include not-to-miss rides, shows and entertainment.

Our plans are available on our website or in our free Orlando planning app for iPhone. You can view our Disney World itineraries from our main Park Plans page or also find them on our individual park pages under Things to Do, as well. For example, on our Magic Kingdom page, you will find our Magic Kingdom 1-Day Park Plan and our General Magic Kingdom Map. You can also download printable PDF versions of all of these plans! Fun fact: Our printable plans also include the general map and packing lists for the whole family!

Our Orlando planning app has the extra benefit of allowing you to customize our pre-set park plans for your own needs. Once you're in the parks, you can use the app map functionality to navigate and even check off items as you complete them! It also shows crowd levels, recommended parks, opening hours and wait times.

'My Family Likes to Sleep In on Vacation! I'm Already Overwhelmed by the Decisions! We Just Want More Flexibility'

We feel ya! For those of you who want the benefits of Disney World park plans without following a fixed plan, the general map is your new best friend. No matter what time you hop into the parks, you can use it to see at a glance the best times to visit each of the park's rides. Our Orlando planning app for iPhone also includes this information, which is super handy when you're in the parks!

Pro Tip: Take a screenshot of this map for easy reference (and to save that phone battery!).

Using Park Plans Alongside Disney Genie and Genie Plus

If you haven't heard already, Disney Genie has arrived in the My Disney Experience app. With the debut of this free planning tool, you may be wondering, "Do I even need to use park plans?" If you're a person who likes to plan ahead rather than figure things out on the fly, you can still find park plans incredibly useful! Park plans can give you an initial idea of what you want to prioritize and get you more familiar with the parks. Also, if you'd rather not be glued to your phone during your trip, park plans can come in handy as a convenient alternative to Disney Genie.

And if you'll be using Genie Plus during your visit, you'll find notes in our park plans about which rides to prioritize reserving with Genie+. Plus, you'll see which rides you may want to tackle via standby in specific timeframes for low waits (such as first thing in the morning or last thing in the evening) if you aren't able to snag a reservation.

Seasonal Park Plans

Mickey's Not-So-Scary Halloween Party – Family dressed up from "Encanto"

We've even created specialty park plans for seasonal parties at the theme parks. Popular events at Disney World like Mickey's Not-So-Scary Halloween Party, Mickey's Very Merry Christmas Party or Oogie Boogie Bash at Disneyland Resort offer a lot of awesome entertainment, characters, food, rides and more, so it's important to have a plan in place to maximize your limited time.

Did you know we offer park plans for Universal Orlando and SeaWorld Orlando, plus Disneyland and Universal Studios Hollywood in Los Angeles? Looking for more tips and resources for your vacation? Hop on over to our Orlando Planning Guide!

So for the one-day plan, and all the attractions, what is that based on...age, attraction popularity, experience, something else. I believe there are 30-40 attractions. How did you arrive at 18. Thanks!

Hi Dave!

Good question! We try to be realistic when putting our park plans together, and unfrogtunately, it's just impossible to ride all attractions in a single day. So, we try to include a good mix of popular rides (any "must-dos") and rides with typical lower waits to balance it all out. We also try to keep the specific order in mind, so you're hitting rides in close proximity to each other and not hopping back and forth across the parks. Of course, there are several factors that could impact the park plans, such as ages, Genie+ selections (if utilizing Genie+), virtual queues (if you've snagged a spot) and general interest. These are just starting points for you, and you can switch it up to your preferences!

Hi this will be the first time I take my kids to Walt Disney World ages 7 and 5 months when we go and I was wondering on the park plans, I will be following them to a T since I have no experience in the parks but what about character encounters in the parks? They seem very limited in the plans and some don’t even have slots for them is it not possible to incorporate both things together? Just wondering as I’d like my child to see some characters if it’s possible? Thanks!

Hi Cora!

Thanks so much for the feedback :) Character meet and greets are usually something we include in a more impromptu capacity during our trips. But it TOTALLY is possible to incorporate both things together! :) You can check most meet and greet wait times in the app to help you plan.

Hoppy planning!

Leap's Touring Plans were a TREMENDOUS HELP!!! Last month, my sister and I ventured out to Disney World with my almost 8 year old son and her 1 and 9 year old boys. This site really helped us devise a great strategy and with military precision we were able to execute our plan of attack. Between the two of us, we locked down our Fastpasses in advance to the most popular rides and made adjustments as necessary at the park. We stayed for a week so we had the luxury of spending 1 day at each park, while also maximizing on the extended park hours. Thank you so much for empowering us to take on a task that initially felt SOOOOO overwhelming. Your touring plans were a very helpful tool that allowed us to really get our money's worth on our very first trip to Disney World. We all had a great time and we will definitely recommend this website and app to family, friends and even strangers who plan to visit the parks in Orlando. THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU LEAP!!!! Next stop....the MOON!! LOL!! :-)

Hey,

My family and I are going to DW this November for the first time during MVMCP and also Epcot's Food and Wine Festival. Do you have any good ideas for incorporating these events in with an itinerary? Also we plan on spending 2 days at MK!

Reply
Jun 19, 2015 at 1:32 p.m. FrogBlog Says...

Hi Jeana,

The Magic Kingdom 1-day plan will work well with MVMCP as it ends in late afternoon. It hits many park priorities, minus meeting Anna and Elsa. You could use the two-day plan too, since the priority attractions are covered earlier in the day. With the party itself, I don't recommend any of the touring plans because it's really all about the special activities and shows vs. rides. The Epcot plan doesn't work as well for Food & Wine, but I would suggest you ride all of the priority attractions early in the day or FastPass, then you can head over to World Showcase for the fun later in the day. The earlier you go to World Showcase, the fewer the crowds. The later you go, the more a party atmosphere :) Keep in mind, too, that weekends are generally more crowded than weekdays for the festival as well, although weekend evenings can also be busy.

Hope this help. Let us know if you have any more questions!

Hi, we Will visit Orlando in june and visit Magic Kingdom for one Day. When I check out The crowdcalender it seems like we choosed The wrong Day. It's red. Is it for sure that The "green days" is less crowded? Or is it statistics?

Best regards

Hi there,

The daily park recommendation is based on several factors, including historical data that we've collected over many years, park hours, special events and EMH.

What happened to Peter Pan. I waited over 90 minutes. the line never moved. when I finally got to the front of the entrance, I watched people walk up with Fast Passes and the just continually kept walking on. it was never a wait. if the CM did not see a FP person, he finally turned around and let one or two groups in from the standby line. He would mark his clip board and turn around again and watch people approach from the FP line. There is something seriously wrong with the procedure at Peter Pan. I also witnessed empty cars going into ape ter Pan, since the CM did not have anyone to put in the car. So ridiculous.

We just went at the end of April, and two tips to share:

1) The Wishes FP+ isn't worth it, for 2 reasons. First, the area is basically like a General Admission zone, so you still can end up with a bit of a blocked view of the castle. But more importantly, you then can't get 'bonus' FPs since you don't use your 3rd FP until very late.

2) While not idea for really young ones, there were practically no lines anywhere after the fireworks. We did Buzz's twice with no lines, Pirates twice with no lines, and got on the Mine Trains with a 15 minute wait.

And the other bonus of staying late? We got some amazing pictures throughout the almost empty park as we wandered out slowly. Really magical feeling. :)

I think you've done an amazing job with your map. My only issue with the 1 Day touring plans is that they don't take into consideration the ages of the guests. I do think it's an overall good outline, though!

This is true and thanks for the feedback. We may find a way to work in height requirements going forward, but thanks to the child swap, we do think there are a lot of parents that like to ride even if there little ones can't ;)
