You’ve traveled all the way to Florida expecting sunny skies and it’s raining when you arrive. Don’t worry! Here are a few tips to make the most of a drizzly situation.
Business as Usual
As long as there’s no lightning and no one in the group is coming down with a cold, carry on with the fun! A poncho and a good attitude can make a rainy day at the parks as much fun as any other. If it starts to rain midday, don’t leave right away. Florida weather can change on a dime, so as soon as the rain stops you’ll be able to hop on the
attractions with almost no wait. (Lots of people give up quickly and hightail it back to their rooms.)
Take It Inside
In our opinion, Magic Kingdom and Epcot are the best parks if rain is in the forecast. They have the most indoor attractions and the most covered areas to get out of the rain. I’ve included a list of the Frog Family’s favorite rainy day attractions with helpful links below. *
Ride the Monorail
As simple as it sounds, the Monorail is a fun way to spend a rainy afternoon. Hop on at the Transportation and Ticket Center and take a ride to Epcot and back. 
You can also get on the Resort Monorail for a scenic view of the Magic Kingdom area resorts. Speaking of the Magic Kingdom resorts, instead of going through Disney's Contemporary Resort, take a tour of the lobby then get right back on the Monorail that will take you back to the Transportation and Ticket Center.
Get Your Game On @ DisneyQuest®
Tad and Lily (and yes, my husband, Leap) love DisneyQuest whatever the weather. This interactive playground is perfect for a stormy day. And since you’ll already be at Downtown Disney, we moms
can do a little shopping while the kids play. If you have a Water Park Fun & More ticket, DisneyQuest makes a perfect “fun visit.”
Let’s Go to the Movies!
The movie theaters at Downtown Disney and Universal CityWalk are great theatre choices since they’re located close to the parks. By the time the movie’s over, maybe the sun will be back out!
Hotel Fun
Don’t underestimate the “fun potential” of just hanging out at the hotel. Here are a few ideas:
• Make a list of the hometowns of all of the Cast Members you meet around the hotel on the stationery found in your room. This makes a great addition to your vacation scrapbook when you get back home! (CMs’ hometowns are found on their name tags.)
• Play Disney charades. Use Disney movies, characters or attractions as topics. (If you don’t suffer from stage fright, play in the hotel lobby…you never know who may want to join in the fun. Just ask Lily, the family “ham.”)
• Have a Disney movie marathon in your room.
• Most Disney hotelshave an arcade on site. This is great way to pass the time until the sun comes out.
A Day at the Museum.
I know, I know…you mention the word “museum” to your kids and they look at you like you’ve just offered them brussel sprouts, but the Orlando Science Center is not your typical museum. There are four floors of interactive exhibits and displays with names like KidsTown, Dr. Dare’s Lab, DinoDigs and All Aboard. (There’s also the Orlando Museum of Art for the more cultured among us.)
