Glide through the air over the Golden State of California on Soarin’ at Epcot! To begin your flight, you’ll travel through the queue to Concourses 1 & 2. While waiting in line, pass the time with the interactive videogame section. The videogames use motion-detection and heat sensors so that users can control the game by using certain body motions! There are five different games to choose from, including racing others in a bird race.
After a quick instructional video, you’ll be on your way to soaring! Soarin'™ Attraction begins as you’re strapped into your “hang-glider” and lifted 40 feet into the air with your feet dangling freely. The IMAX projection dome wraps 180 degrees around you, so you’re engulfed by the impressive scenery during your peaceful flight over California. To complete the experience, special effects like wind, sound and even smell are used throughout this smooth ride. Here’s a list of scenes you’ll fly over while experiencing Soarin'™ Attraction:
• San Francisco and the Golden Gate Bridge
• Kayaking and rafting down Redwood Creek
• Hot air balloon rides over Napa Valley
• Rocky shores of Monterey
• Snow skiing at Lake Tahoe
• Yosemite Falls at Yosemite National Park
• PGA west golf course in Palm Springs
• Wind farm in Camarillo
• Anza-Borrego Desert State Park
• San Diego’s Naval Air Station North Island
•Nighttime skyline of Los Angeles
• Disneyland, Anaheim
Even during the “slow” season of Epcot®, Soarin'™ Attraction draws a huge crowd with wait times averaging more than an hour, unless you go within 30-45 minutes of park opening. Try to get a FastPass+ as soon as you're eligible to do so because most reservations are taken by afternoon.
Guests are lifted 40 feet into the air, so flip-flops and sandals are not a good idea. If you do end up wearing flip-flops or open-toad sandals (get it?), put them in the under-seat bin when you board Soarin'™ Attraction. Guests who are prone to motion sickness may not enjoy Soarin'™ Attraction due to the simulation aspect of the ride. Otherwise, as long as you meet the 40-inch height requirement, it’s appropriate for all ages.
Soarin'™ Attraction is a Frog Family favorite! The images used are gorgeous and the special effects always amaze us. Mommy Frog is prone to motion sickness, but this ride doesn’t bother her.
Soarin'™ Attraction is a multi-sensory simulation ride in The Land Pavilion at Epcot. The duration of the attraction is 5 ½ minutes. Each seat has a pull-down shoulder restraint with a seatbelt clasp. Guests must transfer from their wheelchair, motorized scooter or ECV to board the ride vehicle.
