Inside This Post

'Sup! Tad here, the Frog Fam's resident "Star Wars" superfan. Disney World is one of my favorite places to step into the "Star Wars" universe — it's almost impossible NOT to feel the Force in Star Wars: Galaxy's Edge! May the 4th (i.e, May the Force ... are you with me?) is a special day in the parks (notably Disney's Hollywood Studios) that's full of treats and limited edition merch. Insert excited R2-D2 scream here!

Star Wars Month Disney World - Magic with Meg

Before we jump into all of the galactic goodness, I want to introduce you to our froggy friend, Meg! You can find her over at @MagicwithMeg on Instagram. Like me, she toadally loves Star Wars — and even cooler, she's sharing some of her Star Wars faves with us! My little sister, Lily, and my mom are always oohh-ing and aah-ing over her amazing outfits! However, Meg and I like to talk shop on all things lightsabers and food. OK, let's punch it — here are all of the deets on celebrating "Star Wars" at Disney World!

What Is Star Wars Day at Disney World?

Star Wars Day, better known as May the 4th, is a day dedicated to all things "Star Wars" (and "Star Wars" fans). While most celebrations occur in Star Wars: Galaxy's Edge, there are several offerings throughout Hollywood Studios and Disney Springs you won't want to miss!

Be sure to check out our ultimate guide to Galaxy's Edge for everything you need to know about the incredibly immersive land before you go.

This collection is expected to be in high demand. As such, Walt Disney World is opening a virtual queue for guests to shop 'til they drop. You can access this virtual queue from your My Disney Experience app. Valid theme park admission (and park reservation if you're a passholder visiting before 2 p.m.) is required. Like the virtual queues for former rides, it will open at 7 a.m. on May 4, 2025.

New merchandise aside, May the 4th is the perfect time to build your own lightsaber over at Savi's Workshop! For a limited time, there is a new lightsaber hilt theme available called "Reclaimed and Reforged." At Dok-Ondars Den of Antiquities, lightsabers and rare kyber crystals are available for purchase!

Don't have park admission? You can also check out select merchandise at the Star Wars Galactic Outpost and World of Disney in Disney Springs! Customize a headband with new "Star Wars" character plushes at Disney Ever After!

And while you're in Disney Springs, stop by the LEGO store. Between May 2-4, you can assemble your own mini Grogu figure in a hover pram. Did we mention that it's complimentary? Mini builds are available while supplies last. There's also "Star Wars" trivia!

PhotoPass Opportunities in Star Wars: Galaxy's Edge

Star Wars Month Disney World - PhotoPass stop with BB8

Be sure to capture all your Star Wars memories with various PhotoPass opportunities! Several PhotoPass photographers are stationed throughout Galaxy's Edge. We highly recommend getting both day and night photos — we love how the lightsabers glow!

Photographers can also add select MagicShots to photos. You never know what might be perched on your shoulder or flying overhead! MagicShots we've seen in the past include a BB-8 astromech with a thumbs-up, Holopuck bounties and a BD-1 droid.

For an out-of-this-world experience, book a private photography session with the local Batuu Image Specialists. PhotoPass photographers will capture the moment in a 20-minute photo session that comes with props. Locations include in front of the Millennium Falcon, the First Order Shuttle, the market at Black Spire Outpost and more. This is a paid service called Capture Your Moment.

How to Celebrate Star Wars May the 4th at Disney World

Here are some of our favorite ways to join in and celebrate May the 4th at Disney World!

Dress Up and DisneyBound

Star Wars Month - Disney Bounding group

Grab those Jedi robes, rebel attire or Sith cloaks, as May the 4th is the perfect excuse for DisneyBounding! Star Wars: Galaxy's Edge provides the perfect backdrop for dressing like you're living in the Star Wars universe. DisneyBounding, or "BatuuBounding" in this case, is using regular clothes to represent a character. You can even make up your own character and create a backstory! Many of the Black Spire locals (cast members) will strike up a conversation when they see someone dressed up.

And speaking of DisneyBounding, you'll want to check out all of the Bounds Meg created this year! Her go-to is Princess Leia (who is definitely my favorite princess — she's so heroic and cool!). That's Meg in the pic at the very top of this blog, getting in touch with her darker side for May Sixth.

Ride Your Favorite Star Wars Attractions

May the 4th at Disney World is the perfect excuse to hop on some out-of-this-world rides! While in Galaxy's Edge, live your dream of flying the "fastest hunk of junk in the galaxy" on Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run or fully immerse yourself in an epic space adventure on Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance. This popular attraction can have a long wait, so we recommend riding first thing in the morning, just before park close or purchasing a Lightning Lane Single Pass to bypass the standby queue. Don't froget to experience a different space journey each time on Star Tours – The Adventures Continue!

Disney World in March - Rise of the Resistance

Enjoy Interactive Experiences

As mentioned above, you can customize and build your own lightsaber and droid for an additional cost! These are the perfect keepsakes to take home with you! Savi's Workshop and Droid Depot take advance reservations, though limited walk-ups may be available.

For a free activity, use the Play Disney Parks app and your MagicBand+ to collect virtual bounties around Black Spire Outpost during Star Wars: Batuu Bounty Hunters!

Visit with Characters

Orlando Theme Parks by Age Group - Chewbacca Interaction

While on your adventures, you may hoppen upon some "Star Wars" characters! In Star Wars: Galaxy's Edge, you'll find Rey, Chewbacca, resistance fighter Vi Moradi, Kylo Ren and First Order Stormtroopers. Plus, watch for the Mandalorian and Grogu (hopefully "Baby Yoda" doesn't want to eat any frogs)! These characters do not have official set times and randomly appear in the land, so you never know who you might see.

On the other side of the park at Star Wars: Launch Bay, guests can meet Darth Vader, Chewbacca and BB-8.

Attend Disney After Hours

Star Wars Month at Disney World — Star Wars: Galaxy's Edge at Night

For an opportunity to enjoy lower ride wait times and experience a less crowded Galaxy's Edge at night, book tickets for Disney After Hours at Hollywood Studios!

This separately ticketed event occurs after regular park hours and features little-to-no lines for rides, character meet-and-greets and other experiences in the park. Plus, you'll get complimentary popcorn, ice cream and select bottled beverages throughout the night! This is a great opportunity to enjoy a much lower wait for Rise of the Resistance and other attractions. Plus, you'll get those empty nighttime Millennium Falcon and lightsaber photos. After Hours at Hollywood Studios takes place on select nights Jan. 22 to Sept. 3, 2025. In May, this includes May 14 and 28.

There you have it — all of the out-of-this-world ways to celebrate "Star Wars" at Disney World! Light side or dark side, Resistance or Republic, May the Force be with you!
