All the Stellar Ways to Celebrate Star Wars Month at Disney World

'Sup! Tad here, the Frog Fam's resident Star Wars superfan. Disney World is one of my favorite places to step into the Star Wars universe — it's almost impossible NOT to feel the Force in Star Wars: Galaxy's Edge! May fourth (i.e, May the Force ... are you with me?) and May fifth (Revenge of the Sixth) have historically been extra special ways to gather and celebrate all things Star Wars, but this year, Disney World as proclaimed it a month-long celebration — insert excited R2-D2 scream here!

Star Wars Month Disney World - Magic with Meg

Before we jump in to all of the galactic goodness, I want to introduce you to our froggy friend, Meg! You can find her over at @MagicwithMeg on Instagram. Like me, she toadally loves Star Wars — and even cooler, she's sharing some of her Star Wars month faves with us! My little sister, Lily, and my mom are always oohh-ing and aah-ing over her amazing outfits, but Meg and I like to talk shop on all things lightsabers and food. OK, let's punch it — here are all of the deets on Star Wars Month at Disney World!

What Is Star Wars Month at Disney World?

In honor of the Walt Disney Company's 100th anniversary, Disney is highlighting a different franchise each month.

With themes from princesses to Pixar, it's a great way to celebrate all that Disney has to offer. May, of course, is the perfect month for Star Wars! You'll find select new offerings throughout the month at Disney World, mostly at Star Wars: Galaxy's Edge in Disney's Hollywood Studios. Be sure to check out our ultimate guide to Galaxy's Edge for everything to know about the incredibly immersive land.

Specialty Food and Drink During Star Wars Month

You'll definitely want to try some treats during Star Wars Month at Disney World! On top of the delicious dining options in Galaxy's Edge such as Docking Bay 7, Ronto Roasters and Oga's Cantina, Disney has debuted more items in honor of May the Fourth.

While select items were only available on May 4 and 5, here are those available all month long. My personal fave is the Wookiee Cookie! Meg is most looking forward to the Lightsaber Churros and the Darth Vader Cupcake. We recommend mobile ordering whenever possible to save time. The items below are available May 4 through 31 unless otherwise noted, and while supplies last.

New Merchandise at Star Wars Month Disney World

Star Wars "Been There" Starbucks mugs

Star Wars Month Disney World - Mug and Shirt

What's a celebration without some awesome merchandise? Guests can find the new "Meet the '90s" collection as well as "Return of the Jedi" merchandise in honor of its 40th anniversary. Meg and my mom both love the "Been There" series mugs (Mom, you really haven't been to Coruscant. Just sayin'. I bet Meg has though!)

Over at Savi's Workshop, builders can find new pieces to construct their lightsabers with, allowing for even more unique creations. At Dok Ondors Den of Antiquities, new accessories and Legacy Lightsabers are available while supplies last.

Don't have park admission? You can also check out select merchandise at the Star Wars Outpost in Disney Springs!

PhotoPass Opportunities in Star Wars: Galaxy's Edge

Star Wars Month Disney World - PhotoPass stop with BB8

Star Wars Month Disney World - PhotoPass Lens

Be sure to capture all your Star Wars memories with various PhotoPass opportunities! There are several PhotoPass photographers stationed throughout Galaxy's Edge (we highly recommend getting both day and night photos — we love how the lightsabers glow!).

Photographers also have select MagicShots they can add to photos. You never know what might be perched on your shoulder or flying overhead! New MagicShots for Star Wars Month include BB-8 astromech with a thumbs-up, Holopuck bounties and BD-1 droid. At night across from Oga's Cantina, guests can now get photos with the infamous Darksaber!

We absolutely loved the new Armorer's Forge PhotoPass Lens! Found in the My Disney Experience app, the camera filter allows you to customize your own Mandalorian armor. You can be inspired by Bo-Katan, Boba Fett or even create your own unique colorful design. This lens is complimentary from May 4 to 11 for all guests (though remember it is location-based so you need to be at Disney World). Starting May 12, it is exclusively available to Annual Passholders or with the purchase of Genie+.

How to Celebrate Star Wars Month at Disney World

Here are some of our favorite ways to join in and celebrate Star Wars Month at Disney World!

Dress Up and DisneyBound

Star Wars Month - Disney Bounding group

Grab those Jedi robes, rebel attire or Sith cloaks, as Star Wars Month is the perfect excuse for DisneyBounding! Star Wars: Galaxy's Edge provides the perfect backdrop for dressing like you're living in the Star Wars universe. DisneyBounding, or "BatuuBounding" in this case, is using regular clothes to represent a character. You can even make up your own character and create a backstory! Many of the Black Spire locals (cast members) will strike up a conversation when they see someone dressed up.

And speaking of DisneyBounding, you'll want to check out all of the Bounds Meg created this year! Her go-to is Princess Leia (who is definitely my favorite princess — she's so heroic and cool!). That's Meg in the pic at the very top of this blog, though, getting in touch with her darker side for May Sixth.

Ride Your Favorite Star Wars Attractions

Star Wars Month at Disney World is the perfect excuse to hop on some out-of-this-world rides! While in Galaxy's Edge, live your dream of flying the "fastest hunk of junk in the galaxy" on Millennium Falcon: Smuggler's Run or fully immerse yourself in an epic space adventure on Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance. This popular attraction can have a long wait, so we recommend riding first thing in the morning, just before park close, or purchasing an individual Lightning Lane to bypass the standby queue. Don't froget to experience a different space journey each time on Star Tours – The Adventures Continue!

Enjoy Interactive Experiences

For an additional cost, you can customize and build your own lightsaber and droid, a perfect way to keepsake to take home with you! Savi's Workshop and Droid Depot take advance reservations, though limited walk-ups may be available.

For a free activity, use the Play Disney Parks app and your MagicBand+ to collect virtual bounties around Black Spire Outpost during Batuu Bounty Hunters!

Visit with Characters

While on your adventures, you may hoppen upon some Star Wars characters! In Star Wars: Galaxy's Edge, you'll find Rey, Chewbacca, resistance fighter Vi Moradi, Kylo Ren and First Order Stormtroopers. Plus, keep an eye out for the Mandalorian and Grogu (hopefully "Baby Yoda" doesn't want to eat any frogs)! These characters do not have official set times and randomly appear in the land, so you never know who you might see.

On the other side of the park at Star Wars: Launch Bay, guests can meet Darth Vader, Chewbacca and BB-8.

Attend Disney After Hours

Star Wars Month at Disney World — Star Wars: Galaxy's Edge at Night

For an opportunity to enjoy lower ride wait times and experience a less crowded Galaxy's Edge at night, book tickets for Disney After Hours at Hollywood Studios! This separately ticketed event occurs after regular park hours and features little-to-no lines for rides, character meet-and-greets and other experiences in the park. Plus, you'll get complimentary popcorn, ice cream and bottled beverages throughout the night! This is a great opportunity to enjoy a much lower wait for Rise of the Resistance and other attractions, plus get those empty nighttime Millennium Falcon and lightsaber photos.

Book the Galactic Starcruiser

For the ultimate "Star Wars" splurge, consider booking the Galactic Starcruiser! This one-of-a-kind experience puts you into your own unique Star Wars story. During the two-night stay aboard the starship, the Halcyon, guests can dress in full costume and take part in incredibly interactive story elements. It also includes an excursion to Galaxy's Edge.

There you have it — all of the out-of-this-world ways to celebrate Star Wars Month at Disney World! Light side or dark side, Resistance or Republic, May the Force be with you!
