Why Choose a Disney Cruise to The Bahamas?
Disney Cruise Line combines quality service, immersive theming and family-friendly adventure into one experience. The Bahamas is a great destination for short-to mid-length itineraries, making it ideal for both first-time cruisers and seasoned sailors looking for a tropical escape. Departures are frequent and easy to access from Port Canaveral or Port Everglades in Florida. Disney also offers guest access to their exclusive islands, Disney Castaway Cay and Disney Lookout Cay at Lighthouse Point. These destinations can't be experienced any other way.
Disney Ships that Sail to The Bahamas
Most of the ships in the Disney Cruise Line fleet offer itineraries to The Bahamas:
- Disney Magic: As the original ship in the fleet, the Magic has classic charm and a more intimate feel. For 2025, she sails three to six-night Bahamian itineraries from Port Canaveral and Fort Lauderdale. However, in 2026, the Disney Magic will not make any stops in The Bahamas. Rapunzel’s Royal Table restaurant and the AquaDunk slide are guest favorites on this ship.
- Disney Dream: Operating out of Fort Lauderdale, the Dream offers three to five-night sailings to The Bahamas. Known for its Art Deco design, this ship features Animator’s Palate, a guest favorite restaurant and the AquaDuck water coaster.
- Disney Fantasy: The Fantasy is a sister ship to the Dream. It sails three to five-night Bahamian cruises from Port Canaveral. Its onboard highlights include the AquaLab (a themed water playground) and adult areas such as the Europa Adult District.
- Disney Wish: Sailing three and four-night itineraries from Port Canaveral, the Wish is one of the newest ships in the fleet. Highlights include the AquaMouse water attraction and Rotational Dining rooms, Arendelle: A Frozen Dining Adventure and Worlds of Marvel.
- Disney Treasure: The newest ship in the DCL fleet, the Disney Treasure offers seven-night itineraries to the Eastern or Western Caribbean, which includes a stop at Disney Castaway Cay. The Disney Treasure does not visit Disney Lookout Cay at Lighthouse Point for 2025 and 2026 sailings.
- Disney Destiny: Launching in November 2025, the Disney Destiny will offer three to five-night cruises from Fort Lauderdale. Inspired by Disney heroes and villains, the ship will feature a "Lion King"-themed dining experience among other new surprises.
Currently, the Disney Wonder and the upcoming Disney Adventure do not make stops in The Bahamas.
Ports of Call for a Disney Cruise to The Bahamas
Nassau
Nassau is the capital of The Bahamas and a popular cruise destination. Attractions include the Queen’s Staircase, Fort Fincastle, the Straw Market and day passes to Atlantis Resort. Port Adventures (excursions) in Nassau include snorkeling, sightseeing tours and wildlife experiences. While many guests disembark, others stay onboard and enjoy the ship's amenities with smaller crowds.
Disney Castaway Cay
Disney Castaway Cay is a Bahamian island located near Great Abaco Island and is accessible only by Disney Cruise Line. Guests can enjoy white sand beaches, a dedicated adults-only area at Serenity Bay, family beach areas, water play zones like Pelican Plunge, snorkeling lagoons, bike trails and more. A complimentary BBQ lunch is included with each visit. Character meet-and-greets are scattered around the island throughout the day.
Disney Lookout Cay at Lighthouse Point
Disney’s newest destination, Lookout Cay at Lighthouse Point, is located on the southern tip of Eleuthera in The Bahamas. Here, guests can experience local Bahamian culture, including art, music and architecture. The island features both family and adult-exclusive beaches, splash zones for children and Port Adventures that include nature trails and cultural programs. It was designed in collaboration with Bahamian citizens and incorporates sustainable design elements to minimize environmental impact.
Cruise Itineraries for Disney Cruises to The Bahamas
Itineraries vary in length and destination combinations, such as:
- Three-night sailings usually visit Nassau and Castaway Cay.
- Four-night sailings may include Nassau, Castaway Cay and a sea day.
- Five-night sailings typically stop at Nassau, Castaway Cay and Lookout Cay.
Most of the Disney Bahamian itineraries also include a Pirate Night with themed menus, activities and fireworks at sea. Guests are encouraged to dress up and many families bring costumes.
Port Adventures for a Disney Cruise to The Bahamas
Booking Port Adventures (excursions) through Disney ensures you’ll return to the ship on time and the excursions meet Disney’s safety and quality standards. Options on Nassau include snorkeling tours, glass-bottom boat rides, stingray encounters, Jeep tours and beach activities.
Guests can also rent floats, bikes or private cabanas on Castaway Cay. At Lookout Cay, many excursions will highlight Bahamian nature and culture through hiking, boating and historic tours.
Port Adventures should be booked as early as possible once your booking window opens, especially for popular or limited-capacity activities. This can be done on the Disney Cruise Line website or the Disney Cruise Line Navigator app (once your balance is paid in full). Your booking window is based on your Castaway Club status.
Travel Tips and Considerations for a Disney Cruise to The Bahamas
Here are a few more tips and considerations you'll want to know before you go:
- Check your booking window to access adults-only dining reservations, Port Adventures and onboard activities. These open based on your Castaway Club status. First-time cruisers can begin booking 75 days before sailing, while returning guests get access earlier.
- Gratuities are not included in your base fare. Disney automatically charges gratuities to your onboard account (approximately $16 per guest, per night), which you can prepay or adjust at Guest Services. Additional tips can be added for exceptional service.
- Use the Disney Cruise Line Navigator app to view your daily schedule, see restaurant menus and communicate with your party via onboard messaging. Connect to the ship’s free Wi-Fi to access the app. You can purchase internet packages for an additional cost.
- Arriving at your departure port city a day early helps avoid any stress from travel delays. Port Canaveral and Fort Lauderdale both have nearby hotels with cruise shuttles.
