What is Epic Universe?
Epic Universe is a brand-new theme park at Universal Orlando Resort. It features five wondrous worlds: How to Train Your Dragon - Isle of Berk, The Wizarding World of Harry Potter - Ministry of Magic, Super Nintendo World, Dark Universe and, the world between worlds, Celestial Park. With amazing attractions for frogs of all ages, spectacular shows, jaw-dropping views, mouthwatering food and drinks and epic entertainment everywhere you turn, this park is truly something special. A phenomenal addition to Universal Orlando, Epic Universe has officially made the resort a weeklong vacation destination that you won't want to leave.
Is Epic Universe its own park?
Epic Universe is its own theme park. That means it's not attached to Universal Islands of Adventure, Universal Studios Florida or Universal Volcano Bay. You need separate park admission to enter. Starting on Jan. 1, 2026, Park-to-Park tickets for 3 days or longer also include Park-to-Park access to Epic Universe!
How big is Epic Universe?
Epic Universe — along with Universal Stella Nova Resort, Universal Terra Luna Resort and Universal Helios Grand Hotel — is built on 750 acres of land, just a few miles from Universal's existing theme parks ... almost doubling the size of the resort! The park's five worlds are home to 11 different rides, two interactive play areas, two stage shows and tons of dining and shopping locations.
Where is Epic Universe located?
The official address of Epic Universe is 1001 Epic Blvd, Orlando, FL 32819. It's located southeast of the existing Universal Orlando theme parks and Universal CityWalk, a short drive down the road.
How far is Epic Universe from Universal Studios?
Epic Universe is about 13 minutes from Universal Studios Florida and Islands of Adventure. To get from one to the other, you can either drive and park or catch a complimentary shuttle bus from Universal CityWalk. Beginning Jan. 1, 2026, Universal Orlando Resort is giving you the ability to apparate between all three parks when you purchase a Park-to-Park ticket for 3 days or longer — allowing you to visit all three sectors of The Wizarding World of Harry Potter in just one day! While the Hogwarts Express only shuttles between Islands of Adventure and Universal Studios Florida, getting to and from Epic Universe is still a breeze. More specifics on transportation later in this post.
When did Epic Universe open?
Universal Epic Universe opened May 22, 2025. Early Park Admission has been available as of May 23, 2025.
How much are Epic Universe tickets, and where can I purchase them?
Epic Universe tickets are on sale now! Beginning in 2026, when you purchase multi-day Park-to-Park tickets (which will allow you to jump between all three theme parks!), you can save up to $86 by purchasing through Undercover Tourist.
Epic Universe 1-Day tickets are also available directly through Universal. Check out our guide to Universal Orlando tickets for more information about the different ticket types.
How long did it take to build Epic Universe?
Construction on Epic Universe began in August 2019 — however, it did pause in July 2020. Construction resumed in March 2021 and Epic Universe welcomed its first guests (i.e. Universal team members) in March 2025 — just less than six years since its announcement — and officially opened on May 22, 2025!

Epic Universe Ride FAQs
How many rides does Epic Universe have?
Epic Universe has 11 attractions.
Does Epic Universe offer Express Pass?
Epic Universe offers Express Pass. You can purchase a 1-day Express Pass for Epic Universe only (available directly through Universal) or a 2-, 3-, 4-, or 5-day Express Pass that includes Epic Universe, Universal Studios and Islands of Adventure (available through Undercover Tourist). Currently, the Express Unlimited Pass is not available. Check out our helpful infographic to see which attractions offer Express and which don't.
Are Single Rider lines available?
Select rides have Single Rider lines. You should only use these queues if you are comfortable with splitting up on the ride.
Do any rides or experiences use a Virtual Line?
During most of the Epic Universe preview period, Harry Potter and the Battle at the Ministry used a Virtual Line. Over the final weekend of previews, it started using a standby line, and has continued do so post-opening. Since opening, no rides have utilized a Virtual Line. We'll let you if that changes at any point!
Which rides require complimentary lockers or storage?
Stardust Racers is the only ride with a "no loose item" policy, and requires you to store your belongings in a locker and pass through metal detection. Hiccup's Wing Gliders and Monsters Unchained: The Frankenstein Experiment also have complimentary lockers for loose items, but you can wear a secure three-pronged waist or cross-body bag. Bigger items such as backpacks and purses will need to go in lockers. Additionally, Dragon Racer's Rally has secure cubbies and Fyre Drill has chests onboard the ride boats. For more about lockers and bag policies, hop to our locker system post.
I get motion sickness. Can I handle the rides?
Ultimately, we get that motion sickness can affect everyone differently (or not at all), so it truly is on a case-by-case basis. Our best advice is to be prepared, whether that's taking an anti-nausea medication, using an anti-nausea wristband, riding on an empty stomach or just avoiding altogether. You know yourself best!
However, we think the rides that would most likely cause motion sickness are Harry Potter and the Battle at the Ministry (screens; motion simulation), Monsters Unchained (ride vehicle movement similar to Harry Potter and the Forbidden Journey, but screens are more at a distance), Curse of the Werewolf (spinning roller coaster) and Mario Kart: Bowser's Challenge (VR headset).
Do rides have test seats?
Yes! The majority of rides have test seats near the queue entrance (and sometimes even additional ones further in the queue). The only rides that do not have test seats are Fyre Drill and Constellation Carousel, which do not have height requirements either.
Family Info FAQs
Can I bring a stroller?
Yes! You can bring your own from home, or you can rent a stroller once you're inside the park. Stroller rentals are $40, and can be found immediately to your left after you've entered. The rental strollers are large, so keep in mind that tadpoles would need to sit upright. If you have an infant or a smaller child, we would suggest bringing your own.
Where do I park my stroller for rides?
There is stroller parking outside the attractions. Look for signage, and while we feel safe leaving ours behind, we always suggest bringing any valuables with you.
Do the rides have height requirements?
There are two rides that do not have height requirements — Fyre Drill and Constellation Carousel. However, handheld infants are not permitted. Hop over to our Epic Universe height requirements post for more info.
What is Child Swap?
If your tadpole doesn't meet a height requirement or is reluctant to ride, you may utilize Child Swap, which is available at all attractions. You can get in line together as a family, but let a team member know that you want to use Child Swap and they will direct you to a Family Room near or close to the loading station. An adult can wait with the non-riding tadpole(s), while the rest of the party can ride. Once they're done, the adult who didn't get to ride can hop on without having to go back to the start of the queue.
What is the Family Care Center, and where can I find it?
The Family Care Center is located at the back of the park near the portal to the Wizarding World of Harry Potter — Ministry of Magic. (A First Aid location is also next door.) Here, you can find one sensory/quiet room, two nursing rooms and two family restrooms, as well as a kitchenette with a microwave (with Braille) and bottle warmer. There's also a vending machine equipped with a wide variety of products, including medicine, diapers, feminine products, Band-Aids, deodorant, diapers and more!
Food FAQs
Do any restaurants require reservations?
Reservations are strongly recommended for Atlantic Restaurant and The Blue Dragon Pan-Asian Restaurant, which are the only two full-service restaurants inside Epic Universe. You can make a reservation within the Universal Orlando app. Walk-up availability may be limited or unavailable.
All other restaurants have walk-up availability or may use Mobile Order.
How can I use Mobile Order at restaurants?
Mobile Order is available within the Universal Orlando app at most restaurants. Many restaurants will prompt you to use Mobile Order once you sit down at a table. The table has a QR code that you can scan, which takes you directly to Mobile Order within the app for convenience.
Does Mobile Order accept annual passholder discounts or gift cards?
Yes! You can apply any passholder discounts or Universal gift cards when ordering.
Do I have to use Mobile Order?
While Mobile Order is encouraged, there are stations where you can order at a register.
What if I have a food allergy or adhere to a specific diet?
Menus do indicate options for plant-based meals and food sensitivities. Universal can accommodate food allergies or dietary restrictions. Please inform a manager or Chef's Assistant before ordering if someone in your party needs accommodations.
Accessibility FAQs
Does Epic Universe have attraction queue accommodations?
Epic Universe utilizes Universal's Attractions Assistance Pass (AAP) system in the same way as the other Universal parks. Those requesting queue accommodations should register and obtain the IBCCES Individual Accessibility Card (IAC) within 30 days (and at least 48 hours) before their visit.
How do ride accommodations work with mobility devices?
It will depend on the attraction. For most rides, you may need to transfer into the ride vehicle. But all rides have accommodations, whether it's a lateral transfer device or a separate accessible vehicle in which you can remain in a standard wheelchair.
You can remain in a standard wheelchair (would need to transfer from an ECV into a courtesy standard wheelchair) on the following attractions:
- Constellation Carousel
- Mario Kart: Bowser's Challenge
- Yoshi's Adventure
- Fyre Drill
I have a service animal — what can they ride and where can they relieve themselves?
Service animals are allowed on Yoshi's Adventure, Constellation Carousel and Fyre Drill. Other attractions have kennels where they stay while you ride. Service dog rest areas are located by the Front Gate, across from Atlantic and near Stardust Racers, The Blue Dragon Pan-Asian Restaurant and Curse of the Werewolf.

What is Photo Validation used for?
Photo Validation is now being used to verify tickets and passes at park entrances and Universal Express Passes in select queues. It is optional — you can opt out, but prepare to present your valid ID and tickets or passes. The new locker system (for both ride lockers and all-day lockers) also uses a facial recognition feature, so you don't have to keep your park ticket on you to lock and unlock a locker. However, park tickets are still an option if you don't want to use facial recognition.
